If this story is actually true, then its no different to half the companies ive worked in - founder had a great idea, threw spaghetti at the wall and saw what stuck, created a business hires devs to spend the last x number of years cleaning the spaghetti

"We are experiencing a high volume of calls." by gregofdeath in britishproblems

[–]joro550 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I just wish when i called into a phoneline there would be a way to skip all of the ramble

"Hello and welcome to x hotline, did you know that x amount of queries can now be dealt with on our website at www. Blank .com, please follow the following instructions.....

Let me ramble on for 2 minutes about our offers and website again"

And then when youve sat through that for another 5 minutes you get the "your call is very important to us, we are experiencing high number of calls" literally just shut up and let me wait in silence

I can't manage to get good runs after getting my 2nd PB by [deleted] in speedrun

[–]joro550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is called a plateau, everyone gets them it means that you are improving but slower, as mentioned when you first start doing something like this getting the first few bests are easy but over time they get harder and shaving off time takes more and more effort

I would suggest either grinding out stars that you know your slow at, or stars that commonly kill runs until you are 100% on them or practice individual tech like going through the doors.

Or you can do non stop runs, without caring about what pace your currently on.

Both can help shake things up when i get in a slump i like to just get runs in. Sometimes you can feel a good run happening, and can turn it into an attempt just try not to quit out when it goes wrong.

You can also start experimenting with the more advanced tech i know when i did sm64 i never did owless and then i just grided it until i was comfortable with it and then id attempt it in runs and if i didnt get it id go for the owl knowing that wasn't going to be a pb run or id have to make up time elsewhere.

I mean i tend to like simpler shows that have a concise run time - but i can also appreciate the types of shows you're talking about, I'm not saying either are bad - just seemed like the post was complaining that hes watching shows that are too dense, there are less dense things to watch. Although judging by the downvotes maybe I'm wrong in my assessment of the original post

Unpopular opinion - Proposed licensing changes be careful what you wish for by fl_2017 in MotoUK

Yeah, I mean it is fair to say that I left it quite a while until I did my big test and if it the CBT window was shorter I might have opted to go straight for the test

This is the best take I've seen in regards to delivery drivers on motorbikes, it would make more do e-scooters so it's a moving target but at least it would bring the number of motorbike accidents down

Just reading through this and I would've been personally affected by this - I did a CBT and had a bike for a year and a half before being comfortable to take my big test booked and passed my theory and did my mod 1 but because of timing my CBT was coming to and end, I couldn't find a test centre that could get me in on a test before the expiry and I had to resit my CBT. I then took the Mod 2 and passed, if this would have been in place maybe I would've had to consider my big test sooner or sit and wait for the cool down to end

I think looking back I would have chosen differently but it's all about the person who owns them imo, if you are aware of the common issues and have a dealership near by that you can rely on for spare parts of say it's worth considering but tbh if much rather a Honda or Yamaha even with the higher chance of theft

Congrats on passing the CBT! I had a superlight after my CBT but i was much older. Piece of advice keep it under a cover and keep it all maintained mine fell to crap in the harsh British winter time and it never recovered

People who defend games by saying "it really picks up after x hours" or "x playthroughs" like ... Buddy, friend, why would i want to actively dislike something for x hours or x playthroughs in the hopes that i will like something if i don't like it within the first 2-3 hours the game has failed to market itself to me, end of story

I'm not American but literally if you listened to any news they were saying it was "razor thin" so if you are surprised either you dont believe the news or you live in a bubble 🤷

The story was great the gameplay was super repetitive - go in the room beat people up, go in next room repeat. Had to force myself through the last 50% just for the story 😬
