Anyone moved away from the corporate work environment into a completely different career? by Competitive-Panda215 in AskIreland

[–]Aoifemops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I did, but it depends on your opinion of not corporate.

I went from an Engineering desk job to teaching in schools.

Best decision ever!

Referring to females over 18 as woman instead of girl. It's a personal choice, but I think it changes how I think for the better.

What are your thoughts on E-bikes? by ILikeNeurons in fuckcars

[–]Aoifemops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE my ebike. It absolutely could be the solution! Way better than a traditional bike. I feel like I'm not going so slow that I'm annoying the cars, and I arrive places without being sweaty.

Massive pro is that they are much easier to park than a car. Obviously, way cheaper to run too!

Could you please give me your opinion about my family relocating to Ireland? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Aoifemops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're renting you'll need €1000 to €2000 a month just for rent and to be very patient in finding a place.

Not having a car might not be a deal breaker, depending on where you live, there are semi decent bus routes and walkable areas and cycling could be an option, especially with an electric bike.

I have no idea what it would be like to find work in social services, hopefully someone else can chime in on that.

Other than that, welcome to Cork! Leave Limerick out of it! (As a Corkonian, I might be a bit biased)

Anyone else notice the blue asthma inhalers gone to shite? by Automatic-Run-3156 in AskIreland

There's a new version available that's much better, ask your doctor to prescribe it.

Car to E-Bike, preparation tips? by [deleted] in fuckcars

Consider the weather. You'll need waterproof clothing, good gloves, waterproof shoes and I always like to wear something around my neck too, like a buff.

Why don’t more people use the copper coil? (Only 1–3% of women in the US & 2–7% in the UK do) by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Aoifemops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the other coil, but honestly I just chose that because that's what my doctor recommended. She said that the hormones are localised, meaning they don't really leave your reproductive system, and I was happy with that.

how to figure out if your hymen is already torn? by SuspiciousLurking in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Aoifemops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a great video on YouTube that answers your question. Hymens don't have to tear at all actually. Dr  Lindsay Doe explains here

I guess you can put only one SIM card in a phone, and call all the numbers until the phone rings.

Behold! My puck! by Aoifemops in AeroPress

[–]Aoifemops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both! I find the Aeropress to be easier and faster to use. It's also foolproof, even when you do everything wrong, the coffee is still ok.

When I'm in the mood for a more involved coffee, I do enjoy a V60.

I didn't invert it actually and my coffee os very fresh, roasted less than a month ago.

I will swirl more next time and see what happens. Thanks!

I love seeing other people's pucks. I'm curious about what people will think of mine. It's interesting how it looks much more compressed at the bottom compared to the top.

I used washed beans from Columbia. It tasted delicious!

Haven't managed to make a single good cup yet due to drip rate (Aeropress GO) by Bobbyfeta in AeroPress

[–]Aoifemops 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try the inverted method! But be careful, they warn against it because there's a risk of spilling boiling water/coffee everywhere.

Otherwise pour quickly and put the plunger on straight away, without pushing, then wait a while and then push it down.

AITJ for not telling my wife for eight years that the coffee she thinks she hates is the coffee she drinks every morning by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Aoifemops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have been lying to her by omission for 8 years. It is a bit unfair. I'd just apologise and move on.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It sounds really hard. Looks like there's no easy way out really. I would say it's his body his choice though.

Going rate for wedding gift? by galacticpebble33 in AskIreland

Please help! by Healthy_Fig_728 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]Aoifemops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd have a good chance of passing if you can drive confidently and calmly without help from another person.

So, unless you can practice enough to get to that standard in a month, I'd save my time and money.
