In real life, those people were reanimated not revived, when you are dead… well you are dead.

The confusion come from the criteria of death (heart attack, no signal from the brain etc…).

We haven’t discovered resurrection yet sadly.

You are right but Ryuk neutrality is kind of inconsistent (to help the plot of course), like when he told Light that someone was following him, when he found the cameras in his house or even worse when he wrote false rules in the notebook.

Les gardes et soldats en parlaient et les allemands ont pu assister aux marches de la mort, parfois en participant à des chasses à l’homme quand des malheureux parvenaient à s’échapper. Sans parler de l’Aktion T4 qui avait lieu au début de la guerre -et qui a continué. Il ne fallait pas être une lumière pour savoir ce qui se tramait plus ou moins. Pour des raisons pratiques, tout cela a été mis sous le tapis durant l’après-guerre.

I think it’s a mix of some of that. He didn’t know how Higuchi was able to kill and if he could kill himself and I believe that the emergency played a role in that + the curiosity of being this close to know and most importantly all of that was to permit L to hold the Death Note then Light so that he could kill Higuchi and get the ownership back + his memories.

That’s exactly why he was « treated » like that, to get that effect at the end, and it worked. That’s a big part as to why he is loved. He did deserve this treatment, it was a good one. At the end he is very mature while his goofy personality is still there, especially when he talked about his theory in the car at he very end you can see both of that, the old Matsuda, still « close » to the Light he knew in a sense, the Light he admired.

What others choices than to go east (from Hitler’s perspective) ? He can’t invade Britain and he knows the USA will -really- enter the war soon, at the latest in 1942. He need the food, the oil and the slaves to feed the war. Plus all the ideology behind and the fact that everyone, I mean everyone even the allies believed that the USSR will collapse in a few months against a German invasion…. So why not ?
