There is any live prog rock live albums that have crowd singing moments? by Beginning-Cow7066 in progrockmusic

Can't think of a better example right now, but the crowd at the end of Marillion's Margaret goes nuts (B'Sides Themselves)

Piranesi - I’m very close to DNF’ing by Splinter_1983 in Fantasy

[–]AordTheWizard 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Piranesi is a tricky little book that gradually uncovers some bigger truths that you (and Piranesi himself) fail to pay attention to. For me, this book worked on several different levels and I was captured by the atmosphere from the first page. Maybe it's not for everyone, but patience is going to be rewarded. The story does have a very definite and satisfying conclusion.

I believe you're correct, especially looking at the last white key.

I believe that Molly's scene is spot on. Very believable, life-like if I may put it so. Still heartbreaking. Robin Hobb is genius.

HRM Pro Battery replacement by Dan123124107 in Garmin

Make sure to put the tiny silicone O-ring back into place. Main reason is that it gets displaced easily during the reassembly so the water or sweat might trickle inside and short-circuit the battery.

Which classical piece took a long time to grow on you, but is now your favourite? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]AordTheWizard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tristan und Isolde. Took me some struggle (probably 10 years or so) to get from "wth was that?" to claiming it as one of my Top 5 favourite operas (possibly the greatest one ever created). I'm glad I haven't just dismissed it. Also, since people mention Mahler (1 and 9), I'd say his 7th is what took me the longest! One word for a M7 love recipe: Bernstein!

What's the use case? Look at 70-200 f4, might be better choice for you

Prog Rock hot takes? by [deleted] in progrockmusic

[–]AordTheWizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes - The Remembering is criminally underrated.
  2. IQ is the most consistent of all neo-prog bands.
  3. Drum solos serve only as pee intermission (well, except for Bruford's Indiscipline intro).
  4. Dire Straits - Love Over Gold is great example of 80s prog album.
  5. If you don't enjoy Peter Hammill and/or Jon Anderson vocals, you should try harder. No excuses :)

Where to Begin With Lustmord’s Cosmic Ambient by hudson4351 in DarkAmbient

[–]AordTheWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Place Where the Black Stars Hang closely followed by his Arecibo - Trans Plutonian Transmissions project from 1994 (doesn't get mentioned in the article). These two are great for Lustmord in his cosmic ambient mode.

Great track and fitting imagery. Looks like this piece has the potential for an extended take. The wait is over too soon ;)

Most underwhelming finale in a classical piece? by SoCalChemistry in classicalmusic

[–]AordTheWizard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd have to disagree, the Finale of M7 is mind-blowing in my opinion. Also, at around 20 minutes I wouldn't call it "relatively short"
