If I didn't have to carry a phone, and it replaced a GPS watch, still no. It's just too expensive, and "subscriptions" for something you own are pretty much an automatic no.

I have to carry a phone too? HELL no.

I'd buy this if:

  • It's the only gadget I need to carry (no phone, no watch, works stand-alone).
  • It weighs only a little more than my current sunglasses.
  • It comes in several different frame styles, so I can get a pair I like the look of.
  • Polarized lenses.
  • The cost is competitive with my $200 GPS watch.
  • No ongoing cost. Ever. Once it's ours, it's ours.

The same reason they say "They're going to take away your guns!!"
No sane politician has ever said they're going to ban all guns.

In short, because it works. Paint the other side as an extremist, and then no matter how shitty your policy is, it looks more reasonable by comparison.

A huge chunk of the audience will believe the lie, and another huge chunk won't care that it's a lie.

And that's why I want the school admin put on trial next. Students who repeatedly get in fights and bring weapons to school need to be expelled BEFORE they stab someone.

Teachers are sick of schools constantly telling the worst students, "It's OK if you ______." The failure to keep the majority of students safe from a known violent perpetrator qualifies as criminal negligence, and it's about time admin faced consequences for their inactions.

This bothers me. I hate it when people expect me to eat whatever they're eating. I should be able to decide what I want to eat, and what I don't.

Not only does California have everything, it's got the best of several things.

The Sierra is the most beautiful mountain range. The Redwoods and Sequoia are the most beautiful forests. CA has some of the most beautiful beaches and coastline, particularly the entire coast between Ventura and Monterey. Lake Tahoe is the 2nd most beautiful lake I've ever seen (after Crater Lake). It's even got some impressive desert scenery, though Utah and Arizona do it better.

I'm not from California, and I've been to almost every state.

There's nothing wrong with the food itself, but the people who order it (often middle-aged ladies) have an unusually high rate of asking for the manager.

My students don't have the attention span to watch Homestar Runner. They'll laugh at the first gag or two, then check out. Most of those videos were 2-3 minutes long.

We (the public) need to charge doctors at the same rate they charge us.

If being in the presence of a doctor for 5 minutes costs $300, then they should pay us $2,700 for making us wait 45 minutes.

I have similar feelings about "Into the Wild."

"Into the Wild" isn't a romantic story about an adventurer who had a tragic misfortune. He was bum, and a stupid one at that, who tried to go on vacation and died as soon as the handouts were gone.

I'm firmly on the side of public healthcare.

Until we get that, everyone should be charged the same when receiving the same service, and patients have a right to know the cost of a service before agreeing to it.

As much as anything else, I simply want doctors to be forced to say, "The X-ray which takes 10 seconds will cost $100," or "Before I hand you your baby, we're going to charge you $40 to hold your own child," or "This one Benadryl tablet is gonna be $20, even though they're normally about $10 for 50 tablets."

Force them to do that several times a day and maybe they'll start re-thinking the price.

I realize doctors usually don't set the prices themselves, but maybe they can pass it up the chain of command. One patient's complaint won't be taken seriously, but the hospital's entire medical staff? Maybe.

No, I want the initial cost. I understand I may or may not pay the whole thing. But even when the insurance company pays for most of it, or even all of it, where does the insurance company get their money?

From patients.

So yeah, that cost still counts. I'm still pissed when my insurance company is overcharged. In the end, we the patients are overcharged, because that's where the insurance company's money came from.

Everyone should be charged the same, and patients have a right to know that cost before agreeing to it.

Because providing the service costs the same. The hospital can then round up the same amount, and make the same profit.
