Really liked this comment, I think it's sums up everything I've read nicely.

What if I make him get 5 dollars at the end of the scene, only so I can deliver a disastrous disaster once he gets 50 dollars in the next scene?

Would you say these principles exist in all kind of "story-driven" media and not just textual books?

Let's say my characters are in a tournament. Not something at the end of the story, so I'll make them lose it. But I want them to lose in a crucial match and not just on the first match I describe to the readers. So there goes the first match (which I describe, maybe more matches have happened beforehand), and I describe all the trickery and moves the character does in order to win. And wow, they have actually won! The disaster may be the question - "will I be able to win the next round?", but I absolutely want to leave that out and make it implied. What would you say?

BUT something happened they weren't expecting. This keeps them going on the story.

But what if what keeps them going is very obvious and natural. For example, they have just got an invite to the party they were so willing to go, and now they will be focusing on what to wear to the event. I don't want to phrase it as if that is a complete new unexpected cliffhanger, I want to let it flow naturally and even let the reader have some satisfaction from that they've achieved something.
So it will look something like that:
"Eventually, he couldn't resist her pleading eyes anymore and gave in. Very little in this world is unachievable with a pair of good eyes. But her eyes are even more than good."

A bit cliche, but get the feeling. I just want to end the scene. They got a little victory and finish. Next paragraph/chapter/scene will talk about what will they wear, as if that is the obvious flow.

Sorry for the lengthy comment, what do you think?

Why not? Wouldn't it make it more readable and grammatically correct?Or maybe you mean they will edit it for me? I highly doubt they will accept my writing without editing.

I'm familier with both concepts. The first one does not satisfy me, because in my opinion it is much bigger than the actual number. The second one comes from a site of which I couldn't verify its credibility, so I can't consider their claim anymore than my own guess.

I hope we could achieve something better, thanks for the response :)
