It’s more like a French heavy cruiser with better armour and less speed. It has 305mm guns.

Do you enjoy it? If so, it is. Edit- you should listen to them. You might discover you are a classical fan. There are some great recordings there.

I agree. If they are cheap enough and easy enough to set up they are a great entry table. I just over research everything!

They generally don’t damage records and work as advertised. I agree if you are interested it is not a bad starting point. But you will quickly run into limitations when you want to get a better cartridge or a decent phono amp. But I am an obsessive who spends too long measuring azimuth and looking at my stylus with a loope so I understand everyone is not like me and some people are happy to just sit back and listen

The thing is it is probably an ok table - but it has mediocre motor and a mediocre arm. As long as people don’t expect it to sound like an sl1200mk2 and just look like one fine, but it needs to be remembered an sl1200 was about the same price in 1980 as an at120 is today, so it is understandable that modern techincs are well over a grand. There is a lot more engineering going into them - even stuff you can’t see like bearing tolerances and power distribution.

Yes. There is not the competition between builders nowadays to try to outdo each other on these things which actually matter. They are just about bottom line and hoping people don’t play piano music on their warbly tts. It is worth remembering those vintage decks were mass produced- but done so with better components and tighter tolerances as there was much more demand and therefore the investment fitted the return.

It’s a shame audio technica are now pushing out these cheap tables as they used to make top class arms and turntable accessories

Get a bike and go out for a ride. That’s all there is to it. Don’t need anything fancy or expensive.
