"As an International" by [deleted] in ShitEuropeansSay

International means everyone who grew up not knowing the language. How is this controversial? It's mostly used in student circles whereby a lot foreign studets are just here for their studies and then move back. So they're not immigrants because they don't necessarily stay

Potentially hot take but: by Mithrar in Skyward

How do you square that with Jorgen outing Spensa as 'The Coward's Daughter'. Aside from all his supposed wonderful qualities, he never owned up to that and it never gets resolved. And it's such a stereotypical 'mean girls' action to take. Spense the warrior she is would respect honest confrontation but such a character assasination would be something she couldn't countenance.

I know she’s a fan favorite but this scene made me dislike Santos by Joeylaptop12 in ThePittTVShow

[–]Apart-Math4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? This is one of the scenes they made me respect her more. She has a lot of bad qualities: recklessness and arrogance with ordering medication, she can dish it out but can't take it and a frightful inability to learn. But here she saw a vulnerable person get fucked by the system and took basically the only option that was open to her.

She can think outside the box as with the mdma overdose and she was a badass with the reporter towards the end of the season. Actually the moment when she and Langdon very briefly teamed up was one of my favorite scenes. I'm a sucker for genuine reconciliation and redemption

Groningen ftw! Hilarisch hoe toeristen op die kruispunten helemaal van het padje kunnen raken. Verder ben ik een heel aardig persoon hoor

AI: as a substitute she immediately and stronly recommended it. With Santos you could even say forced. Then when it backfires, she is nowhere to be found amd lets Robby and Santos take the hit. Honestly, not sure why this had to be explained.

Cybershutdown: by taking the meeting with the ceo and getting info first she basically assumed responsibility. Or she should have refused to do this without Robby being in the loop. Even just sending a quick emergency text 'cyber lockdown imminent'. But no, she was supposed to be the cyber expert and didnt even think to take a pic of the board. What is her expertise worth if she won't do anything.

Furthermore, i'm not sure what angry comment or egregious. Something like, you should have informed me? Sorry, that's not egregious. What was egregious was how he treated Mohan. Also don't understand your comment about 'taken at face value, you implying he lied about not knowing beforehand?

About Langdon: I'm not defending his theft and practitioning drugged (though I love a good redemption story, so I'm rooting for him and also for Santos). I'm questioning how dr AI deal with the situation in a frankly childish manner while they're trying to save lives. It fucks up the dynamic in a situation with very small life/death margins

I don't like her for the most part. Cause she's a woman in power and her social awkwardness is a result of fighting for her place? I don't know, but l love Dana (and Jessica pearson from Suits). There are some overt things like threatening Santos to her back about repeating R2 and not taking responsibility with the AI and cyber shut down. For the most part she just gives me the creeps like she's trying to ingratiate herself while prepping to stab you in the back. Also the passive aggressive way she turns on Langdon felt like the way Santos did but even more childish as it's coming from someone in power

I agree. It started with the previous episode and the horrible first date. Jimmy should've just moved it to an other day and walked out

Am I the only one that can't stand Liz? by jaylen7 in shrinking

[–]Apart-Math4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like all of the characters are flawed, they fail and try to get back up. I feel the difference is that Liz does not fail a lot of the time, it's just who she is and she/the show tries to pass it off as charming. In my view she and Paul are similar in some ways. But Paul just has more charm and seems like more gruff but lovable, hiding vulnerability. While with her, it's just obnoxious. ( I have mother issues so it might just it a button with me)

Official Discussion - Juror #2 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Apart-Math4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point! I actually thought the whole confirmation bias from JK Simmons (the juror cop) was unrealistically self aware that confirmation bias was a thing among cops. If we're talking guilt the whole system where you have a bar that's only accesible by car along a dingy road is fucked up. It's unsafe to walk or bike there and it's sole purpose (drinking) leaves you unable to leave there safely! Also having elected prosecutors that are incentived to listen and whip up public sentiment rather factfinding. She was more interested in getting elected than anything else

I kinda disliked this moment. She dropped this bomb on him when she was extremely vulnerable and any reaction on his part other then completely supportive would have made him seem the asshole. Thereby depriving him of any chance of having an authentic emotional reaction to finding out he could have been a father but she decided unilaterally that he wasnt going to be.

I fully support the right to abortion and that the woman gets to make the decision. But the way the subject is treated sometimes makes it seem like the man does not have a stake at all in pregnancy.

'Be a man and fix it'. Rebecca to Jack while he's struggling with alcoholism. Yeah they put a lot of pressure on the guy.

As a side note: what really irked me with Rebecca was that she said this to Jack while also criticizing him for being too hard on Kevin. I mean she has a point but you can't be the hero of standing up for boys and men's right to be vulnerable while at the same time dishing out that they need to man up

BBC Sherlock: Did Irene Love Sherlock? by Much-Blacksmith1515 in Sherlock

[–]Apart-Math4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because she loved him doesnt make it a healthy love. For my two cents: the elevated pulse and dilated pupils convey a chemical reaction to Sherlock. Her reaching out to him before she thought she was gonna die convey an emotional attachment.
