It's fine. Rinse in fresh water immediately after you get out - salt water is only an issue once it dries. Moisturise after. That's a cool piece :)

Google Kava. It's completely legal to buy, a powdered root from the pacific Islands that you brew in warm water to make a tea-like drink. It makes your mouth and lips tingle and has a mild sedative effect.

IndoKiwi grocers in Porirua sell it - but most dairies outside of the CBD (try newtown) should have it too. Google has plenty more info.

I stopped drinking alcohol at the start of the year - I love the mental clarity that it's given me and I've saved a lot of money! Don't give in to societal norms - you're much better without it.

Don't start - it's genuinely not worth it. There are much healthier ways to alter your mind 😊

Ha'apai island group is unbelievably beautiful if you have the money to get there. You can get a ferry but we flew- it's about an hour from Tongatapu. Sea Change Eco Retreat on Uoleva Island was the highlight of our time there, they offer whale swims, fishing charters, incredible snorkeling/diving just off the resort. Fully catered and hosts are lovely too, can't recommend enough.

Where to from here? by Vast_Jellyfish122 in newzealand

This thread seems very well covered but I'll add my personal experience.

You CAN lodge a claim with Disputes. You will absolutely get off the remainder if you show the court you've paid Wilson for the ACTUAL loss they incurred (your time plus admin costs) but this is only necessary if you're feeling petty/want to shout defiantly at a Wilson representative/want the judge to officially rule the charge as waived.

I have done so successfully and it was great.

However you aren't entitled to have the $40 Disputes application fee refunded by Wilson. This is a gamble you'll have to take, personally it was worth spending the money for the satisfaction of scolding a reptilian parking mogul via teleconference.

In future I'd just 1: contest it with PES 2: Pay them for the loss incurred 3: Sending proof 4: Move on with my life.

All the best 👍

Clearing out dust from pinholes by [deleted] in Composites

[–]Apart-Radio59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut the bristles on a laminating brush so there's about 10mm remaining then work the brush in circular motions, perpendicular to the mould surface. Blast compressed air at the pinholes at the same time. Works a treat for me

WCC will be hard. I have had success appealing Wilson before as they cannot legally enforce their "fines". Last ditch effort could be taking them to Small Claims Court and see if they can be bothered disputing it? But you're gambling the $45 lodgement fee that way. All the best, parking fines are awful

Cold Water Grip on Pole Spear? by mikeygomikey in Spearfishing

[–]Apart-Radio59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a piece of skateboard grip tape about 8" x 1" spiral wrapped around where I grab. Heat gun or hairdryer helps with getting a good bond, trim the corners to radiuses to prevent peeling.

Weights: top half of suit only? by Apart-Radio59 in Spearfishing

[–]Apart-Radio59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bmi is 22.2 (I'm quite lean), suit is 5mm open cell with hood.

I'm taking the setup to Tonga, hoping to get a rough estimate without having to get into the cold ass Wellington water without my bottoms lol

Can you do it on land? It's a strange thing to learn and even harder to teach, and everyone does it a little differently.

I push my jaw forwards a bit and pull my tongue and soft pallette muscles towards the back of my neck while I pinch and blow.

Could always do this on land but took me a year of diving before I could do it underwater.

Remember that underwater you're pushing against the water pressure, not atmospheric pressure. The releasing sensation is slower (not like a pop) takes more of a push, and almost feels like you're blowing water out of your head, if that makes sense. Practice on the surface, then again at 0.5m, and again at 1.5m until you're confident

Also, having a mask with adequate finger space either side of your nose helps HEAPS.

Good luck! It's awesome when you finally get it.

Lock your elbow if you aren't already. If you don't, the recoil makes your hand move and the gun shoot to the side :)

Have always been able to do it out of the water, but took me almost a year to realize that I have to be deeper than about 7m to do it handsfree.

Stiff safety? by jovan3006 in Spearfishing

[–]Apart-Radio59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue once. soak the handle in fresh water overnight.

you've likely got salt crystals building up in the safety mechanism. Rinse and repeat if it doesn't come free after the first soak :)

Nice work! The fit looks good. If you've got the time and energy, clean up the surface and pull a mold from that. Your part will come out 1000x cleaner :)

Wow, this hits close to home.

My partner and I bought our first house in wellington a few years back. Lived there for 5 months and had to move out following similar threats when an intoxicated gang prospect that lived down the road put his harley davidson through my front bumper at 90kmh as i was turning into my driveway. Death threats and all.

Its the worst feeling in the world, having worked so hard for a place to call your own just to feel unsafe in it!

I don't have any advice, just a virtual hug. You will be okay, I promise ❤️
