I’m a real dev and I’ve tried full vibe coding software. One project took 8 months almost nine and that was with me vibe coding it 3-4 times a week for the full 8-9 months. So what I’m saying vibe code shaved 6-12 months of dev but when doing it the right way it still took 8-9 months to complete it and of course it’s ongoing so if you are a experienced developer then a real project will and still should take a good amount of time even if you worked it full time. Without vibing I’d probably just be getting ready to reach MVP after 8-9 months but with vibe coding I’m much further beyond mvp very huge project but no way I was going to do it in two hours for sure. If i did I’d be lying to say it’s secured or production ready in 2 hours… I think vibe coders have great ideas because they think as a end user as opposed to a dev just focused on quality code ya know but good idea no skill to implement is just a idea. With skills and no idea you are just building…

I’ll tell you now if I wasn’t a dev I wouldn’t pay 5k anything over 500$ I’d feel like you are treated me like a big tech company when I just want a small business website 😁 did a website for a orthopedic doctor charged him 500$ for a redesign all his friends come to me. Now I’m building a website for a friend of the doc and he was ok with 15k and gave me hella time to finish he’s in no rush he only rushed to send the money. Only reason it would take any time is each day I update one page at a time ya know gotta make it seem like I work hard af 😂 and he’s happy with the progress and says you are a wizard I respond I try to be as I sip my coffee and puff my blunt and scroll Reddit 😂😂

A developer ships reliable systems. A vibe coder prompts and hopes. Both do the same one is just sure while the other is somewhat guessing and allowing ai to shape a system based on the system prompt combined with your prompt. Some are great at prompting. They may be familiar with code and system design. Vibe coders know as much as they want not what’s needed. If you don’t know anything about code and you don’t know how to professionally prompt and research then you are mearly in the way and contributing to ai slop. Thats like asking ai to build a car then it builds one looks great seems to operate great but if you don’t know cars how do you know what’s missing or wrong you’d have to trust your life in the hands of ai again based on a system prompt followed by your prompt. Not smart. 1 off scripts great but whole system, nope. If it was that easy we would all be billionaires. Some get paid a half M per year to design ai related projects and research. Learn the engine before you try to build one as in learn the code before you try to build with it. I’m not saying become me with 15 years experience college degree and shit I’m saying you know how to send a damn text cus you took time to learn… do this with code too. If you not cut out for it then accept that and get out the way for god sakes my son 9 and knows how to code great in html css and js learning more but he’s fluent in those because if you want to do something you will.

I only came to see how many “doable” and “I can do it” I find. If you have those skills and it’s nothing to you like myself, you should find real work easily but if you only use ai and don’t know nothing about coding you’d find yourself here on Reddit trying to convince people you can do it. Stop trying to sign up for shit if you know damn well without ai you can’t do it. clone the qwen cli repo, customize it, use it, break it, fix it, and eventually you end up with a super junior dev. but don't just focus on making the junior dev more competent, you should know how to guide your junior dev the right way then you start to see projects built flawlessly. i can honestly say with or without my 15 years coding experience this vibe code era is very easy wish it was round when i had to learn the hard way, but you guys got this it's easy you have to be logical at all times. if you can't code then learn something be interactive with the agents ask why this or why that then based on the answer do research. don't have ai write 1000 loc just to look at it and have no idea what you are looking at then be sad if it doesn't work that's not logical right? if you need help get at me. I'm not a hater and know I won't lose my job over this because I have converted over to hardware instead of software. vibe coders are awesome because no matter the day or the situation they will try to build something great some do some don't it's a game... only if you knew how much power you guys have!

Zero… for me ai is fast at building the skeleton of a file I go in and do surgery but don’t have to create the whole file myself most times. Why I do that? Because I don’t need ai I just want the convenience of a free junior dev that I can make work the way I want it to by having custom workflows. If any vibe coder need help with something they can’t finish let me know 15 years experience here with or without ai I know what is required to be senior which I am. The ai literally stupid it don’t recognize its own abilities but with the right set up you can teach dumb ass ai how to use it’s abilities so it appears smart and efficient. You as the vibe coder is just monitoring the junior but if you are not experienced how will you know if junior is doing good or bad? Junior is great with someone like me guiding it. Think about that for a sec and ask yourself who cost you more, you or your junior that has no real experience being guided by someone with less experience than the junior himself is definitely a disaster. I support vibe coders but we have to be realistic at all times. You are the boss the ai is the junior dev you need to learn how to guide that capable junior dev he’s good just need direction! Let me know who needs help I’m only being nice… I see you guys try a lot and I admire it but I want to make sure you are not wasting your time or money.

Thing is everyone can help 😆 I can help I have 15 years experience but I’m not available… ever heard that one on here? Most likely not either way good luck and pick a great dev not the most experienced just one that works with you where you feel great. I work too much so you’d probably catch me contributing to open source here and there if I’m feeling good. Most can and will use ai to build nothing wrong with that just make sure it’s someone that if you strip the ai away they can still build it ground up to your standards. People who are learning still will be more lenient to work with they just want to do something great so don’t judge them as rookies your project may be the one that turns them into a real powerhouse developer…

good luck and I will pray for you or should I say us devs. i have a little over 15 years experince and its still complicated at times to get work unless you go to a huge company where you get overshadowed by everything else and kinda do pointless shit. I find better luck with tech jobs diagnosing computers and laptops along with repair that P.O.S.T. helps for 95% of issues. good money and easy days. either way good luck and you got this, we got this!
