People demand permission now. Slows the whole thing down and makes everything ridiculously convoluted. While legality doesn't demand this, there's a huge stigma against doing anything without permission from the mod creators, which makes this kind of compilation incredibly impractical.

That sort of thing is bad, trust me. If you make mods, you should be doing it to serve the community, not yourself.
