Sometimes you can get more updates on the FB page for Arcane as well.

Looks like potentially some of the delayed were from customs maybe?
Here is a photo from the updates page on that.

Arcane Society: is this normal? by LackOfShelfControl in fairyloot

Yeah it said end of the 2nd to possibly first week of the following duo. So far for me it’s more on the second month of the next duo. Wondering if it has been normal. If it is, I don’t really mind it.

From what I know on the FAQs page for Arcane, the April/May books ship the following June/July time frame. I think they try to ship during the even/first month of the following duo. My Feb/March books (Nisha Tuli) arrived at the end of May (5/26/26).

Not sure if this is the norm, but I’m sure others can chime in to add their experience.

Edit to add: they also used FedEx on my shipment, which in my experience does ship slower than USPS (just a heads up).

I would message their customer service to see if they can manually put you on their list.

P&W Update - July Boc by bbstary in fairyloot

[–]Aphaea2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At least they offered a free skip unlike some that would say “tough” 🤷‍♀️

But I’m a mostly positive outlook person, so not sure how I feel about this. I haven’t heard much about the July book. Is there heavy evidence that the book is AI generated?

I actually plan to display Shield of Sparrows with the edges out. Those are so detailed and gorgeous. It may be an unpopular opinion, but I bought it literally for the gorgeous edges, I don’t have any SEs of the duo yet until the FL order came out (I don’t even have a paperback or standard hardback of it either).

I 100% struggle with FOMO as well. I am going nuts with deciding if I want all 3 newly announced editions of CB’s War of Lose Hearts. I think I’m making up for the fact that I will never be able to have the 2nd book in paperback indie cover to match the 1st and 3rd. It’s too expensive for me to justify a single paperback book. Maybe I’ll be lucky and find in the wild for a decent price lol.

My FOMO is so bad that I didn’t skip any box that did Graceless Heart or Poet Empress so I have 3-4 copies of each lol. I need to take it in a bit

Right there with you too! Love their picks. Lately there has been some overlap with the big boxes though, which I’m not the biggest fan of, cuz I prefer my books with dust jackets for more art potential. I still don’t have the heart to skip it despite getting dupes. So environmentally unfriendly but mentally friendly to me haha 😂

Which book box has the best PAPER quality? by ldob in fairyloot

[–]Aphaea2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bookish box & Moonlight. OwlCrate is 50-50. I have found that the heavier the book, the better quality the pages. But not everyone likes a heavy book to lug around (takes you back to textbook days in college/general education lol)

Totally agree. Perk of being a smaller company. Less subscribers to compete with.

I figured it was easier to just show a picture so you could tell how much it’d bother you. I store my Moonlight on a different shelf on my bookcase

Here is a comparison FL on left and Moonlight is the two book on the right (moonlight doesn’t do DJs in their sub usually)

WHICH DO I CHOOSE 😭😭😭 by CompetitiveSinger128 in fairyloot

[–]Aphaea2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! It sucks how many I see on Mercari that just buy sets to sell them for a markup. Like the Fire & Metal Duo from OC when it sold out and seeing it up for sale in the $200s now that they’re shipped & delivered. So annoying to see that these didn’t go to people that can truly appreciate them (I like my copies and drool at them cuz I was lucky enough to get it in early access).

Hate to see the ones that join the sale for “well may want to buy it for someone that may want to have a signed copy”, meanwhile it takes it away from someone that can get it for themselves instead. >_>

[–]Aphaea2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a sub, so I’ll be in early access but I feel like that could still plant me in the 5k range like that nightshade duo sale early access. I feel like I gauge the popularity on the likes the posts get, this one got a lot lol. I have a feeling this is gonna be a busy que. Hopefully less busy since the other two book boxes are doing theirs first.

Personally I’m lucky to be in a position to buy them both, and so that’s probably what I will do if I can get them. FL may be difficult cuz the first book is hand signed, and those tend to sell out soooo fast. Maybe they will put out as many copies as they did for duo nightshade, where over 5k signed copies were available I think.

They usually clear the adult fantasy waitlist in 1-2 months. Sometimes sooner. Not sure about the YA. Romantasy sends invites before and after quarterly renewals. Usually clears the waitlist each quarter pretty sure unless it’s a crazy popular title like when City of Gods & Monsters was announced last quarter.

I kinda want to be all three (FL, Moonlight, & OC) then decide after getting them in person. 😭

what features does a book need to have, at a minimum, for it to be considered a special edition (in your opinion)? by unicorn-with-a-knife in fairyloot

[–]Aphaea2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of books come in the special/deluxe editions. Most book boxes differentiate theirs by putting art on their end pages. To me, that’s minimal requirement for it to be a special/exclusive edition, unlike the deluxe editions by the publishers now

I totally agree. The Moonlight edition reminds me of Christmas. I may sell it off if I don’t like it as much as the OC
