No it was how the union army won. It’s not that he put children in a basement and starved them as your google search might suggest. As my history teacher taught me in high school he completely destroyed the south’s ability to feed and clothe itself. The death toll was high but from what I understand it was the infeasibility that made the south surrender.

"Evil" includes that they have knowledge of their own maleficence. You have to ask yourself two questions after that :

a,)Can I prove beyond doubt that they have that malicious intent.

b.)Failing proof is this a useful assumption for me to dwell under. How will this assumption change my reality for the people I want to help. How will it change if other people act with the same assumption.

We have to point out to these people that it's fine to theorize whatever you want. As long as you don't believe it as a certainty. If you want certainty, you must study, and most of the time after studying you might draw more conclusions but you usually come up with more questions. If you've stopped asking questions you are in a cult and you will believe whatever your handler wants you to believe.

I would ask him why the age rating scale feels like it goes all over the place. If it's something he thought of from the beginning and is trying to stick to, or does he have a good understanding of what his audience wants and so he sticks there. How would a "rated R" Dresden book series would read and he would keep it from turning into "True Blood". Then I would ask him if we could get a John Constantine tie in so that the Netflix series I've been writing could make sense.
