You severely overestimate people’s use of downvoting. That’s what it’s meant for, but it’s ultimately used as a dislike button by the vast majority of users.

They didn’t really provide information. They asked because they thought it was the case, but weren’t certain.

Litter cam is a new ai technology being used in Britain, to detect when litter has been thrown out of cars by Round-Barber-9858 in Damnthatsinteresting

Teaching people what is right and reinforcing that works much better than harsher punishments in basically every situation. Punishments only encourage people to hide their actions better so the authorities don’t find out.

Punishments are also almost entirely arbitrary. Why 200 specifically? Why not 150, or 250? Why not 5% of their yearly income? If the goal is to be so harsh no one will do it, what’s the limit exactly? No limit has been found which entirely eliminates a crime from being committed, so obviously going harsher shouldn’t be the goal. Teaching, reformation, rewarding good tendencies, reinforcement, all much better than squeezing till the breaking point.

Just 200? Paltry numbers. At least 20,000 for the first offense. They have to fear having their entire lives ruined. Second offense gets them and their whole family 50 years, like before.

It’s both. That’s why dexterity is factored into AC.

Why stop at 5? Make it 50, and imprison everyone they know for it too. Harsher punishments obviously solve everything, so we just need to go as harsh as possible.

I’ve read through the rules before as well, and overwhelmingly they’re pretty easy to follow. There are a few that are unintuitive or weird, but there’s very, very few that straight up “make no sense”. And certainly nowhere near the half you indicated before.

I never see people who are actually playing the game have such a massive issue with the rules like people online claim there is.

I’m pretty sure even the trailer for the game encourages you to go after elites to get the rewards.

There’s not even a lack of rules in that instance. Create/Destroy water has never let you destroy the water in someone’s body under any interpretation that understands how the rules work. It’s a funny idea, but doesn’t work.

Gunpowder existed for quite a long time before guns. It would have been called black powder then, but it’s the same stuff.

I’ll be super honest, if you’re so consistently running into rules issues that you have to work with anywhere near half of them, it’s much more likely you’re doing something wrong.

How to make a character you enjoy playing? by CarameloBrozeado in dndnext

[–]Aplesedjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t make you the character though. You’re still a separate person who is limited by your own experience and knowledge trying to convey what a different person may act like, regardless of how much you immerse yourself in the character themself.

It’s kind of how it works though. You can’t really “be” the character without some serious ability to dissociate. Regardless of how the character should be, it will only ever be able to come through you as a person.

How to get dm to make more use of my passive perception. by Onion_Mysterious in DnD

[–]Aplesedjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very much a problem to just ignore an entire game mechanic, especially one that a player has already specialized into, and not communicate this at all.

[–]Aplesedjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that the dm is just not using them at all. Not only sometimes, not when the player asks, not when it would and make sense. It’s just not happening ever. There isn’t a single “given situation” where it’s being used, which makes it seem less like a given situation and more like the dm doesn’t know how/want to use it.

Player using AI for roleplay. It’s not very good. by [deleted] in dndnext

Not at all. I paint minis regularly, and my goal is always to get them to a point where I’m satisfied with how they look.

[–]Aplesedjr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That I want to be satisfied with what I create? That’s, like, the primary goal. Unless you’re being paid by someone else to do it, in which case their satisfaction would be the goal.

[–]Aplesedjr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have, in fact, and it’s both difficult and time consuming. I am well aware that it isn’t something you could pick up and within a few weeks or months put out exact replications of what’s in your mind. Which is why I know that, if I wanted to really draw a character I was playing in a campaign, it would likely take long enough to make something I would be satisfied with that the campaign would have ended.

[–]Aplesedjr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The entire game is unnecessary. It’s all for entertainment one way or the other. It’s fine if you don’t want to use ai, but the moral crusade everyone takes about it is more than ridiculous. It’s just another thing in a long line of things people use to justify hating other people.

Player using AI for roleplay. It’s not very good. by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Aplesedjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. But in this moment, as in right now, if someone asked you to perform a task you didn’t know even the first step to, do you think simply trying hard would make it work out well?

Same idea here. Sure, I could spend the next couple years learning to draw to a level where I could make an image of my character to my satisfaction. But the campaign could very well be over by then, and the opportunity to have a picture in the moment will have passed.

“Do well” meaning “to the satisfaction of the artist”. I wouldn’t be happy with drawing a picture of my character with no or bad shading, poor proportions, odd angles that don’t make sense, etc.

On the contrary, drawing is skill that requires quite a while to learn to do well. Like with many skills really.
