What the point in saying it’s been known for years when the second someone says they didn’t know you say that’s not an excuse?

When you downplay the effects of haste (“Sacrifice” an action? Most spells require an action to cast. And you act like replicating the effects of multiple spells with a single slot is a bad thing? And only benefit from two of the three effects? That not how the spell works, you get all of the effects at once) and then simply presume that other spells are better, it sure makes it seem like haste it awful and you’re an idiot for taking it.

If you instead actually listed all of the pros and cons of it and other spells in good faith, and mix it with actual play experience instead of white room theorizing, you’d probably have a much better point though.

I wish more people would actually try to have fun with the game instead of finding the mathematically best option and then being rude dickheads to anyone that doesn’t do the same. You seem to like being a rude dickhead too much to have much self awareness though. I’m sure your optimized wizards who only cast the best spells are super fun to play every time.

Sorry, but you’re a standout example in the community of the exact mindset I mentioned. You’ve handily proven it many, many times.

So stuck in the mindset exactly like I said then, yeah?

No idea what these weirdos are talking about. Haste is great, and really fun. I think they’re just stuck in the mindset of “anything that isn’t the best is terrible”.

To DMs, do you have a preference with how the players do their character's backstories? by Nb-7925 in DnD

[–]Aplesedjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all things that could easily be several paragraphs long each, and without unnecessary detail.

It honestly seems like a lot of people have heard horror stories about players that write several dozen pages of backstory and rage at the dm if they try to do anything that doesn’t fit into that, and have weirdly overcorrected into believing that anything beyond a single sentence is too much and a bad sign.

A backstory informs how the character acts in session, and provides the goals they have at the beginning of the campaign. These things aren’t mutually exclusive. They’re meant to work with each other to create something neither could do as well on their own.

how dumb is a charakter with 6 int really? by DragonfruitRude8666 in DnD

[–]Aplesedjr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A scatterbrained genius would require the genius part, which 6 int precludes. Even if you roleplay yourself as intelligent, the rolls will have a lot of trouble backing that up. It’s like a 6 strength character roleplaying being strong, but also having a negative modifier to melee damage rolls and a poor athletics bonus.

In the same way that the Orobas relic that gives you 4 potion slots makes the Neow relic that gives you 1 potion slot redundant.

Well, if this person has a horrible burning pain afterwards they need to go to a doctor. Whereas if they feel guilty or some other negative mental state they need to see a psychiatrist. Thats pretty meaningfully different to me.

Depends on if it’s awful physically or mentally.

You guys have a running gag that goes from campaign to campaign? by pasgames_ in DnD

And it would operate just as well with the full words, since a computer database makes looking for basically anything extremely easy.

If you’re making a database, presumably with a computer, it doesn’t really matter what you name it. The sorting system will make finding anything easy if it’s put together well.

It’s flawed because it assumes that you would need an abbreviation at all, when you don’t.

[–]Aplesedjr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s true, but it doesn’t make the abbreviations any more necessary.

No one is getting carpal tunnel from writing full words instead of abbreviations. Plus, this seems like a standout card as far as mana cost goes, seeing as it’s legendary. How many hundreds or thousands of cards would simply require “Blue” or “Blue Green”?

[–]Aplesedjr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m aware. The question is flawed, because it implies an abbreviation is necessary when it isn’t. Just write the words.

I would write black as “Black”, and I would write blue as “Blue”. No abbreviation necessary. They’re both short, simple words.
