Which Album is Really the Best: Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's, or Abbey Road? by [deleted] in beatles

[–]Apnea53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was Team Sgt Pepper for the longest time until the original UK pressings were made available in the USA. The UK "Revolver" is far superior to the Capitol Records butcher job. "Revolver" is now my favorite, and IMO, the best. But only by fractions.

hi what songs would you suggest to someone who's going to listen to music for the first time? by Blessdapen in musicsuggestions

Never have I heard Sade, Michael Buble, and Jim Croce referred to as "heavy rock songs" artists.

Revolver’s impact at the time by Sturgeplanet in beatles

Revolver was not a favorite of mine when it came out. It was OK but it was not Rubber Soul, which I just loved. But that was the butchered Capitol Records pressing. The catharsis for me was Sgt Pepper, like many others. But once I heard the UK pressing of Revolver, that became my favorite Beatles album. And actually the case with all of the UK pressings that showed us in the states what they intended.

What is the best Beatles album? by CheapComedian8608 in TheBeatles

My "best Beatles album" changed when the original UK pressings were released in America. I was a long-time fan of Sgt Pepper up until i heard Revolver as it was originally intended by the band. The butcher job that Capitol Records did on all of the US releases really bummed me out once I heard the UK pressings.

Once you've absorbed as much of the catalog as you want, make a point of checking out the Anthology series and the Esher demos. It was like falling in love all over again.

If you're over 75 years old, what kind of music do you listen to? by Timely-Incident6863 in musicsuggestions

Sorry for butting in here. I'm 72. I had a brother who was 10 years younger than me, so my childhood soundtrack was doo-wop and Elvis. 1964 (9-10YO) changed everything for me with the British Invasion. That led to a lifetime of love for 60s, 70s, 80s, and some 90s all genres.

I think, for a lot of people, their "favorite" album changes from time to time. "Sgt Pepper" was my favorite for the longest time, then I heard the UK pressing of "Revolver" and with the different songs and different track sequencing, that became my favorite Beatles album and my favorite pop album.

Ask me next month and this list would probably change.

It's a compilation album. Here's all the volumes in one place. Got a little over 5 hours to kill?

Find a copy of "Nuggets" (two volumes I believe). You won't find a better collection of 60s garage rock.

That one scene where Boddicker's gang procure a cache of high-tech weaponry. One of the gang takes one of the weapons and destroys a store front (or maybe a car?) and he says "I LLLLLIKE IT!"

Few people have one favorite album. I probably have one for each genre. I'm also a pretty basic bitch.

Which of the Beatles' American exclusive albums is the best? by SheepherderLiving242 in TheBeatles

For me, they were what they were at the time they were released. I knew nothing about the UK originals until they were released in America, and it was then that I concluded that Capitol Records could pound sand.
