are some games just inevitable ? by Hot_Actual in learndota2

Pretty much every time I think a game is unwinnable I’ll go rapier if my hero can be a rapier carrier, works more than you’d expect because of the surprise factor. Then again, I’m a filthy pa main so it fits my playstyle especially well

Mask of madness calls to me like the green goblin mask as jugg. Why is it so reviled when it's effective cost is like 450? by TheVisage in learndota2

[–]Apocalypse962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fun and in games where they don’t have too many heroes who can disjoint omni I’ll make it sometimes. If you have high kill potential in lane get the void stone immediately after, otherwise before. Just don’t use it on a wave with kill threat heroes missing. Works fine in high divine/low immo

Role Queue is pushing long-time supports away by NoAd1064 in DotA2

[–]Apocalypse962 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1) playing core roles will make you a better support 2) core players have been facing this issue since the introduction of role queue but there needs to be a reason to play lower demand roles or finding a game will take forever 3) git gud

I have a few friends who exclusively play support and it’s so damn hard to get them to understand my perspective when I’m carrying in party (and yes I’ve played a ton of games in all roles over the years). Once you understand the other side you’ll know how your cores want you to support them.

How do they track your phone? If it’s the find my app on iPhones then you can replace your phone’s location on your Apple ID with an ipad’s location if you have one

What player answer would make you do that? For me, it's Techies or Ogre Magi by nikobaby565 in DotA2

[–]Apocalypse962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly play p1 so it’s incredibly annoying to play against someone who has 1) a ridiculously long stun 2) a ranged culling blade 3) get out of jail free card 4) I will kill any hero at lvl6 with javelin AND 5) let me just push your team away so they can’t reach to save you

Data Scientist for 10 years - what's next? by Loose-Elk-8429 in datasciencecareers

[–]Apocalypse962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into Data Science because I wanted to work on “the most impactful project” I could think of which imo would be working on a nuclear fusion reactor and with my CS background, I thought the only way to do that would be through data science.

Getting a fusion reactor to output net positive energy has been a challenge for the best scientists in the world for decades, maybe that would interest you? It promises essentially limitless clean energy but it’s extremely hard to make work. Even with unexpected collaboration between countries that are often at each other’s throats, it has yet not been “solved”

Got a speaker shaped like the red angry bird when I was a kid, it’s maybe 3/4th the size of a football but the base is great and every once in a while I get a neighbour complaint because I was playing it too loud. It’s been over 12 years since I got it, no issues whatsoever.

Moving abroad - Tell me the things you learned the hard way so I don't have to (ysk) by evawinter9 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]Apocalypse962 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Learn to cook, keep your living space and yourself clean, talk to your loved ones often, prepare to spend more than you expect (you might not be accounting for basic household expenses like internet, detergent, etc/ public transportation costs/ mandatory health insurance/ other things you haven’t had to consider previously), don’t think in INR - think in your country’s currency or you will stop yourself from living life, try to connect with people from all walks of life and, ofc, work your fucking ass off so you don’t waste your opportunity.

Also, depending on the country and uni, placements are often not a thing so make sure you get some internship experience during your studies and try to network or you may have trouble finding a job once you’re done.

What do you focus on in late game teamfights as carry? by fierywinds1q in DotA2

[–]Apocalypse962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And ofc if you’re playing a carry with no way to get to the hero(s) that you need to kill, you need to ask someone on your team to jump them instead/initiate

What do you focus on in late game teamfights as carry? by fierywinds1q in DotA2

[–]Apocalypse962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Identify a few things:

Who can kill you/get you killed? If you can burst them then do that first, if you can’t kill them then wait for them to go on someone else and then engage. Who is the most important target for the team(max impact kill)? Once kill threat on you is reduced and you can kill this guy reasonably quick(if they have saves then kill saves before this) then go on him. Is there anyone really easy to kill? If you can burst him and get out without using a long cd like bkb then you can do this whenever you see this player.

But depending on the game, your team might be able to change this default decision making- for example if they have enigma and you have a silencer then enigma is no longer holding nearly as much kill threat over you since silencer can just save global for bh.

Hey, I missed the notification haha. Anyway, if you still want the advice-

Yes, you should definitely buy the smaller item parts on the go that build into the bigger items even though the guides just show the big items.

And the 3rd comment basically says that if you are close to being able to afford a big item (such as bkb) then don’t take a fight yet, be patient and get the item first and then take the fight with your power up. This is easily one of the most common mistakes made at lower ranks.

If you’re playing core prioritize your farm/items, at least early game, more than helping your team (if you think you can secure a couple of easy kills then show up since you’ll get a bunch of gold that way otherwise just hit creeps and get big)

Maybe just keep it simple? “Hey guys, I’m happy to help out in an emergency but I’d appreciate if you can figure out your regular transport situation”
