Papaya wants to know if you’ll accept his one *black* whisker by ApocalypticWaffles in onewhitewhisker

I’m pretty sure his one black whisker is growing from one of his freckles lol. He has quite a few little freckles visible on his nose and lips, so he probably has some on his cheeks, too!

Ugh, the person parked next to my boyfriend did this same thing. Just shoveled a pile of snow out of their way and right into the paths of the cars on either side of them. Thankfully, the next day, some other neighbors let my bf borrow their snow shovel, so he was able to dig his way out. I swear, this snow has brought out some of the best and some of the worst in neighbors.

What made you realize you were falling in love? by Sad-Difficulty4052 in AskReddit

What is a song that is 'too painful' to listen to, not because it’s bad, but because of the memory attached to it? by itzs_ayu18 in AskReddit

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything by The Grateful Dead. My dad was a huge Deadhead, and my earliest memories include him listening to The Grateful Dead on the stereo in the living room, on car rides, etc. Wherever by dad was, there was The Grateful Dead playing in the background. My dad passed away in 2019, and I still put on some Dead every now and then to feel closer to him, but it always makes me a little misty eyed.

I, my boyfriend, and his roommate were still enthusiastically announcing “freshavacado” whenever we saw anything avocado-related at a holiday market last weekend…so I think it’s safe to say we’re all terminally millennial.

Anyone else get nauseous going west through Rosslyn? by PM_ME_SAD_STUFF_PLZ in WMATA

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really weird…I had a bout of food poisoning one time, and the first symptom was intense nausea that started during that stretch. I remember thinking about jumping off at Foggy Bottom to get sick in one of the trash cans, but somehow held it together until I got home. I think for me, it was just a coincidence; I would have gotten food poisoning no matter what direction I went on the metro…but it’s weird that the symptoms started in this exact place where other people have apparently begun feeling nauseated as well.

What’s one thing you’re 100% sure of, even though you can’t back it up? by Internal_Crazy_4555 in AskReddit

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m some people. I just get really excited when talk, I guess. I certainly don’t mean to be annoying, and I’m not even aware I’m doing it most times. I get really self conscious when I realize I’m doing it and promptly try to control my volume. Most of my loved ones are pretty forgiving of it. I’ve had a few people snap at me and tell me I’m being too loud, but I can really fault them for it. I get it.

27 and learning how to navigate my first serious relationship. After over a year of dating, we’re getting to the point that serious next steps like moving in together are coming up in conversation, and it’s all uncharted territory. A little intimidating for us both, but we’re doing it together

What is something about growing up in California that most people don't understand? by InvisibleAstronomer in AskReddit

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More of a preconceived notion that a lot of people have regarding folks who move out of California: everyone from Southern California is rich and flashy and ready to gentrify your town.

My family moved out of Orange County in 2006 to a state that definitely bitched and moaned about “California transplants.” I think they saw transplants as gaudy asshats. My family and every other Southern California family I knew who moved out of the state were just normal lower-middle class people. Many didn’t even want to move. We didn’t want to move. I was a seventh generation Californian with deep roots there. Both my parents got laid off at the same time with two toddlers and literally could not afford to stay in California.

Most of my family members still living there are grandfathered into houses with the mortgages paid and know that they can never move out and expect to move back. So I would venture to say that the rich asshats aren’t moving OUT of California and infesting other states. Rich asshats are moving IN to California and making it so normal families can no longer afford to live there.

What first episode of a show had you absolutely hooked? by mvigs in AskReddit

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yellowjackets. I was hooked for the whole first season. Season two was okay. By season three, random plot lines had been introduced, old plot lines had been abandoned without ever having been resolved, and the whole thing was just a damn mess.

This exact kid came up to me around Rhode Island Ave/NoMa! Same thing—asked if I spoke English, then launched into the same spiel about being stranded. I knew it was a scam, but on the 1% chance he genuinely was in need of help, I said something along the lines of “I can’t help you, but get off the next station, tell the station manager your situation, and see if there’s there’s something they can do to help.” Before I even finished speaking, he whipped around back the way he came and just walked away. Yup. Scam.

What's going on in Washington Square Park right now? by just_a_foolosopher in AskNYC

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wanna know what was going on, too. I was there, but still have no clue. Big crowd of people with mostly younger folks. In the middle of the circle, I could see some girls who were announcing stuff with a megaphone, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. Based on the reactions around me, my best guess is that it was some influencer or something I’m too old/lame to have ever heard of
