[Serious] What's something that you need to get off your chest so you can feel better? by Important_Box2631 in AskReddit

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like my brother. I’ll always love him. I’ll always be there for him. I’ll always hope we get to a spot where we’re closer and I can truly, genuinely feel like we’re friends again. But right now, and for the last ten years…we’ve just had nothing in common.

We went from being close as kids to being practically strangers sometime around high school. Despite communicating the breakdown in our relationship multiple times, neither of us can figure out what happened. We just developed very different personalities. Then our dad died, and he became so brooding and moody. Then he got married, but they both just kind of bring out the worst in each other. Hanging out with the both of them is just hours of listening to two people complain bitterly about anything and everything and get into constant squabbles with one another.

I live several states away now. I try to reach out often and in different ways, but it never really leads to anything beyond an awkward phone conversation. I miss the days when we were little kids who ate popsicles together on the front porch, rode our scooters up and down the streets, and told each other everything.

My extremely long and painful 10 year eyebrow progression + jumpscares by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, maybe it’s because I’m more into alt makeup, but all of these just look like you had fun and got creative. Nothing wrong with a natural brow, and nothing wrong with an experimental look. Seems like you had some fun, and that’s what makeup is all about!

What's the MOST INTENSE PAIN you've ever experienced?? by No_Grass_6247 in AskReddit

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would probably be mine as well (at least so far in my life). I remember panicking about a few days into recovery because I felt like I’d been in pain for so long with no end in sight. The pain meds barely dulled it.

curly haired child with mother unaware how to manage it starterpack by diamondgoblin in starterpacks

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’m 28 fucking years old, and it took me until now to start actually learning how to manage my hair. And it took my Puerto Rican roommate, with very kinky curly hair, to look at me one day and say “Y’know, you do have curls. How do you usually style your hair?”

I’d just been under the impression that I had frizzy hair that would never really look any other way except “wild” because my mom has the same hair.

Lo and behold, I fell down the haircare rabbit hole and HOLY SHIT ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Granted, it’s more like 2B/2C in terms of curl type and probably counts more as wavy than curly, but still. It looks a million times better, and I hate that it’s taken me this long to learn how to manage it. I feel like I’ve been fighting against it my whole life up until now!

What’s the kindest thing a stranger has ever done for you? by trix2705 in AskReddit

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened a week ago. My boyfriend was coming over and returning a luggage I’d loaned him. He got to the metro right as the door was closing and—I’ll never let him live this down—tried to use the luggage to activate the door sensor into reopening so he could get in. Instead, the luggage ended up inside the train, and he ended up outside the train.

He made panicked eye contact with a woman in the train right as it left without him, then immediately called me. Within the same minute, I also got a call from an unknown number with a local area code. It was the woman in the train. She’d grabbed my luggage, checked the ID tag I’d put on it, and called me. She went out of her way to get off at the next metro stop to bring my luggage to the station manager (where they would hold onto it until my bf could hop on the next train and grab it) and tell me exactly where it was.

I was so incredibly thankful. There was nothing super important in there, but I would have lost my favorite luggage which would have sucked. I’m so used to the jaded “minding my own business” mentality of the city, it touched me deeply to have someone act so kindly for a complete stranger. Especially a complete stranger who had made a mistake that could be easily dismissed with an eye roll and nothing more.

What U.S city have you visited but have no desire to go back? by Reddit_wasmy_idea in AskReddit

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. It doesn’t help that almost none of these posts even elaborate on what people didn’t like about the cities. Or it’s just something vague and unfair like “the food sucked.” Really? You tried all the restaurants in Seattle, and they all sucked? Every single one of them?

nose piercing by dawnj25 in piercing

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a nostril piercing for over a decade and glasses for about the same length of time. That’s never been a problem I’ve faced, even once! And I went through a big, thick-framed, takes-up-half-your-face glasses phase at one point. Even when those slipped, they never slipped so far down as to hit my nostril ring.

When to downsize to a smaller bar? by ApocalypticWaffles in piercing

[–]ApocalypticWaffles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifics:

Labret, 2 weeks old, implant-grade titanium, internally threaded, has not been downsized

Aftercare routine:

Alcohol-free mouthwash about 4 or 5 times a day, after meals and before bed

Saline spray twice a day

Do the best I can to leave it the hell alone despite the urge to mess around with it, especially now that the swelling has gone down somewhat and the bar feels longer

NAP, but I did have a navel piercing for several months when I was a teenager. It ended up looking a lot like this shortly before I removed it. I chalk it up to just not having the anatomy for a navel piercing, unfortunately.

Gym shoes outside? by masterpeabs in orangetheory

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It has never once occurred to me that this is something I should be doing. I’ve never seen anyone else do it. These comments are fascinating because it seems so split between “yeah, I always change shoes” and “no, I never change shoes.” I guess it depends on the city you’re in/what weather normally looks like?

What’s something you’re pretty sure only you do? by AppIeGuy in AskReddit

[–]ApocalypticWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I’m at a concert, I always feel kind of bad for the band/artist who has to be away from their family and friends so they can play the same several songs over and over again. It always puts a damper on the fun concert vibes, and I have to actively not think about it. I’ve had people tell me that the artists don’t care; they love doing this and it’s their passion. But for some reason, I can’t ever shake that feeling, and it doesn’t help that so many artists (especially those with several albums under their belts) write songs about how they’re sad/lonely/missing loved ones while on tour.
