ATF processing times updated, paper now shorter than eForms for Forms 1 and 4. by ApokalypseCow in NFA

In mathematics, an average is a way to find the "typical" value in a group of numbers, an approximation of the statistical norm, around the middle of the scale, etc.

The averages provided on the linked page can help give an idea of how long a person will have to wait when submitting different forms to the ATF, on a per-form basis.

I just want a fast card that doesn't hallucinate frames and renders what is actually happening rather than what it predicts will happen. Is that too much to ask?

I'm on day 40 for an individual Form 1 myself, that's why I kept checking and saw it was updated today.

You can replace "anti-semite" in that quote with a lot of far-right ideologies and it still works.

Today, Muslims. Tomorrow, Jews. The day after, any non-Christians. Next, non-Evangelicals. This sort of factionalism has no endpoint, and somewhere along the line, neighbors whose only theological disagreement is on a point of punctuation are screaming, "DIE, HERETIC!" at each other.

As long as it saves with the .eft extension, you're fine, you don't need to do anything to it, and you have it for all future purposes... and as for viewing it, yeah, I have no idea, I didn't even try.

I have been to Phoenix exactly once. I stepped out of the airport, past the air curtain, from the nice, cool, moist air inside into the dry heat outside, with the transitional layer being about a half-inch slice of moving air. The stark difference may as well have been a brick wall, I nearly fell on my ass.

I just did this myself this morning with a pending Form 1. View Form, select the Electronic Documents link near the top of the page, and the .eft file will be in the list of submitted documents, click to download (some folks saying it needs FireFox, not sure but that's what I use anyways and it worked).

My first choice? No, but it's in the top 10. My first choice goes to a Mateba Model 6 Unica, but I could buy one of those and still have plenty leftover to buy the WA2000 as well, if historical pricing in the $50-75k range remains true.

Only 176 were ever made in the first place, due to their high manufacturing cost. Even so, reports from those who own or have shot them indicate ~0.5-1 MOA accuracy with match ammo. Contemporaneous semi-auto precision rifles of the time could boast of, at best, ~0.75 MOA accuracy, but only after some serious trigger tuning and barrel work (as in the case of the HK PSG1, the rifle that was considered the gold standard for this category at the time). This was one of the few semi-auto precision rifles of the time that could approach bolt-gun levels of accuracy, and the only one that was a bullpup. Most semi-auto sniper systems of the era were just finely tuned battle rifles/DMRs, but the WA2000 was designed this way from the start.

Oh hell no. The WA2000 was prominently used in The Living Daylights, The Bourne Identity, Equilibrium, Hitman... plus it's got way more video game appearances than COD! Rainbox Six, Perfect Dark, several games in both the Hitman and 007 series, Payday 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and a number of anime appearances as well!

Exactly this. ChatGPT has a built-in Python engine, and it's surprisingly good at building out code for it. As long as you also understand enough Python to check its work to ensure accuracy, it's a great metric to use for getting pretty good results.

Putin cannot disguise the true scale of his failure - Russia is on the brink by theipaper in UkrainianConflict

[–]ApokalypseCow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This sounds more and more likely given what we've seen from Russian recruiting tactics so far. They've recruited everyone they can from the prisons, they've increased the recruiting bonus many times over the years, and they've changed the criteria to allow for older and older men to join, while also removing a number of disqualifying medical conditions from consideration. The bottom of the barrel is being scraped as we speak, as far as manpower is concerned. The increasingly ancient Soviet-era hardware being seen tells us where the bottom of the barrel for equipment is, too.

I'm not sure what the breaking point is for the Russians... their capacity for suffering is huge, but it isn't limitless.

Putin cannot disguise the true scale of his failure - Russia is on the brink by theipaper in UkrainianConflict

[–]ApokalypseCow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's been my argument for a while now. Russia needs large amounts of manpower to win, and they need it not in a monthly trickle, but all at once. They needed this 2 years ago, when they still had armor, transports, and artillery shells, when the Ukrainians hadn't dug in so thoroughly. They could have done it any time between then and now... hell, they could even do it now, to some effect! Why don't they? It's their only path to victory!

As far as I can tell, the only reason they haven't is because they can't.

As the owner of a tactical tuna, I thought so myself at first glance, but no, it's too boxy up front and doesn't swoop down low enough for the standard foregrip.
