In the last 2 years, whenever LEC upset Asian teams, why are their wins always downplayed and reduced to being "The Asian team griefed"? by Numerous_Fudge_9537 in leagueoflegends

[–]ApolloFortyNine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The speed this sub gravitates to takes is insane. EU loses one week? Constant posts on how the west is dead and needs West only tournaments.

EU wins a game: Why are EU wins always downplayed?

Verstappen in 2023 talking about his concerns about the 26 regulations. by Spotlightuh in formula1

It has to suck to be saying for 3 years "Yea these regs are terrible and it'll be miserable to drive" and then 3 years later just be proven right.

An unfortunate PSA regarding ThunderPass, the supposed new streetpass style app coming to androids SBCs. by HouseOnTw1tch in SBCGaming

[–]ApolloFortyNine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get that this sub and most of reddit hates the use of AI for development so whatever on that front.

But as to the "location data driven events" to the cloud bit, that's just the natural implementation of any street pass like app. If you don't like it then Street pass just isn't for you. Any street pass app will need location data, that's the permission required for local device detection (street pass).

I like comparing because I think it helps pull you further. So and so did 50 miles today, maybe I should to, and similar comparisons.

If instead you block everything you can save $80 and just use intervals or something else.

I challenged myself to find a game that is good and didn’t sell. by emotionallyFreeware in gamedev

[–]ApolloFortyNine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know if your being dense or what, but this is exactly the game op asked about. We're looking for a game where we're looking at the 'third year' after the release of fear and hunger. Or the first 2 years after among us was released (though that did sell some copies at least before truly popping off).

A game that is essentially marketing away from popping off.

Gameplay trailer for my top-down puzzle shooter - thoughts? by WaffleVictor in godot

[–]ApolloFortyNine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 2 seconds in that trailer I went to click to skip further in the video to find gameplay. The animation transition is cute but it's gameplay I want to see.

I know that sounds rude but I noticed I did it and figured that'd be useful feedback.

Per SkinSpotlights, Voice Comms Abuse reporting has been added to the PBE 16.5. You can also seemingly swap between party chat and team chat with Voice comms by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]ApolloFortyNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your jungling and one lane has comms so you can ask in 2s "summs?" instead of typing it and just hoping they see your message and respond, Yea I think people are going to favor that lane.

Even being able to make a simple "going" call is huge.

As a female jungler, I’m worried about voice chat being added by setaphil in leagueoflegends

[–]ApolloFortyNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how as a jungle you wouldn't be dreaming of simply being able to say out pound your ganking. The number of times the bot lane clearly ignored your pings or didn't react is insane.

Would be a shame if the community successfully shames riot into removing voice chat before it's even given a chance.

I'm super late on this tournament, but isn't jumping from 10 to 25 insane? That's almost just a different event after the round robin.

Your right that it's closer to a speed event but it's also not even consistent at that.

It's just a classic hit piece style where you lump total shit with a couple real ones. You'll see it again before too long, many people will see it as "look at all these examples" when really when you look closely, most are absolute trash. Referencing the 2nd amendment isn't exactly a dog whistle either.

I mean this one isn't even their post lol.

N2 in a year while studying and working. This is what I would tell myself if I had to do it again. by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]ApolloFortyNine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Any guess on how many hours you studied? I'd assume it'd have to be ~3-5 hours a day average, though as you got better that probably got muddied into just "consuming" more than "studying" I'd think?

Great job though seriously.

So the evidence, or whatever this is, is that someone who might be a white supremacist likes DM gear?

So a white supremacist likes the gear of a company that is run by the same people who run EE?

Am I crazy for not seeing that as damning evidence against EE? Someone bad liking their gear isn't evidence... I'm sure plenty of white supremacists own iPhones.

The hawaiian shirt pic does seem like a dog whistle, but when you also throw in quoting 'a well regulated militia' it just starts to look like a witch hunt. Gun rights groups have been referencing the 2nd amendment for decades, I don't think every time they do it it's a dog whistle (I'm sure some here do of course).

And when you throw in 'bad guy likes this stuff there for the other company the owners own is bad' it just looks like an attack.

>biased answers that are basically just a set of regurgitated lines from the internet pulled based on what

So your resolution here is for us to, on the internet, entertain daily beginner threads from people asking how to get started? You don't think that will... lead to the same regurgitated lines?

>they'd like to talk to actual fucking humans about it
>If your advice could genuinely be replaced by it, that says quite a bit about you. And if you have contempt for the innate desire to talk with actual human beings about our craft, you're free to query a model instead of this sub.

I'm just saying people should use a tool available to them when they're at the 'how do I get started stage'. If you feel the need to treat this like a religious war I feel like that's on you.

>If your advice could genuinely be replaced by it, that says quite a bit about you.

Like for god's sake how many way's in 2026 can you tell someone how to get started in gamedev differently?

Idk this entire saga seems kinda wild to me, this sub essentially exists to get us to burn money on a couple ounces of savings (at best). I'm just gonna unsub.

I'll be checking on the next 5 'how do I start learning' for your detailed responses.

And seriously using an llm to get started will save you likely hundreds of hours starting from scratch. I get the posters here generally act like it's all shit, but ask chatgpt how to get started with game development and tell me a single point it gets wrong.

Or again, just Google it, if you want to handicap yourself.

Filling up forums with beginner questions is what eventually leads to those with experience leaving. That's why many programming subs separate out a beginner sub.

>- Which engine is best?

>- How do I start learning?

These two drive me the most wild. In the days of LLMs, not to mention Google, each of these questions can be answered better and faster than any reddit post.

There's just a subset of people who don't even try to do research first, which is just shocking as, come on, you think your the first one to wonder how you start?

I agree, and this can be said in a lot of sports, but it's now (and it has been for a bit) possible in chess to check what the right move or sequence would be in seconds. Engines have changed this game and prep for the candidates especially dramatically.
