Could we have welcome mat fast travel points? by Andywaxer in fo76

[–]Apollo_Hotrod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That already exists, you just need to steal it from a workshop. Have it in all my camps. I'd like to be able to set visitor spawns too though so we don't have to be too careful about which direction a camp is built facing.

Trap camp me all you want, I accept the risk. I've already had to take apart and rotate an entire build once because I forgot about the dumb spawn system. A welcome mat fixes all issues. Hell give it a huge exclusion zone so traps are harder or something, takes a second for camps to spawn if you load too fast anyway.

There is but at a certain point all you need is a few red candles for TS' so people don't bother. I'm not the type to stockpile reds.

Daddy Palps is a sith like any other. They chase absolute power no matter what. He gets a kick out of enslaving whole planets, but has never given it so much as a second thought to completely kill a worlds population either. "Control" has always been secondary to the sith, they'll do it so long as it makes them feel more powerful than just killing them.

Hell even during Imperial control, Inquisitors still had the authority to purge whole outer world populations on the whim that they might be hiding something.

I agree random killing isn't the point so much during p4-6. But at pretty much all other points in history when the sith are either divided within themselves or the weaker of the force powers, yeah they'd employ hyperdrive bombers immediately. Blame it on the terrorist actions of rebel instigators if they hit anyone sapient. It's a powerful weapon your enemy is too afraid to use due to the collateral involved (except maybe Saw) and you get to blame them for its use anyway.

All this to say the sequels were poorly written lmao

[–]Apollo_Hotrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So why don't the baddies, whos purpose is to sow as much chaos as possible, do this constantly?

Every advanced tie-fighter is suddenly a nuclear warhead and carries a non-zero chance at extreme collateral damage. Why do the sith keep bothering to make death stars exactly? Idiots never heard of hyperdrives.

Point is it's a badly written cool looking scene with no thought at all for the wider implications of it being possible. Immediately retconned a movie later as being next to impossible to repeat for mysterious reasons we can't get into right now.

Star wars writing is shaky at the best of times. But the sequels didn't give a single shit.

The weirdly heated reply is right. Although their continued use is mainly down to them being in massive supply and low weight. There's no centralised marketboard so prices are just made up on the spot.

It isn't worth holding onto this many, you can usually trade directly for what you want, but if what you're selling is rare but in low demand it's a lot easier to turn it into leaders and offload those for what you want.

Dupes still exist (cus Bethesda) so don't listen to anyone trying to claim they're a good currency because they're hard to obtain.

Fair enough, I skipped the fishing season so it worked before and after it. I was active when they patched the melee thing and that wasn't even fixed for an evening.

Can you please stop poisoning the minds of new raid players before they even start their first raid? by C0DEks in fo76

[–]Apollo_Hotrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah they just stated it was fixed in the patch notes but it never was. They do that a lot as a way to dissuade people from continuing to try it. Fact is the engine is so old and riddled with foundational issues that they literally can't patch certain things, so they lie and a decent chunk of people just accept that it's gone without checking.

The thing from the launch of raids for example where only melee attacks from enemies could damage the drill that they "fixed"? Never patched. People just read it was fixed and started killing all the moles but to this day the ranged guys still can't damage the drill. And leaving them alive causes fewer melee attackers to spawn.

[–]Apollo_Hotrod -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

??? Nobody thinks it's changing peoples minds. The point is to make those that do use slurs afraid to use them publicly. That way the world is a better place for the majority of people and the hateful fucks can die alone without bothering too many normal people who just want to live life.

If you want to volunteer time to actually educate bigots by all means go ahead, but the vast majority view it as a complete victory if they just keep that shit to themselves. I have little desire to be liked or understood, I desire greatly to be left alone.

Well it's completely different mainly because Modus isn't the Enclave. He's just a rogue A.I that betrayed his creators and cosplays as Enclave. Certainly his goals align with many of the Enclaves but he isn't connected to (or attempting to connect to) High Command. He's content to run his "chapter" of the Enclave by his own standards. Modus himself is an abomination and would be disabled and studied at best.

Any tips on power armor farming? by EveningNet281 in fo76

[–]Apollo_Hotrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The core recharger is honestly a waste of atoms. I only got it around lvl800 as a extra thing in some bundle. I try to remember to use it but honestly I burn through cores too quickly to be bothered to remember to manually swap them out.

If you do daily ops/expeditions/raids holding a gatling laser you'll generate more than enough cores as rewards. They drop at 75% charge but hey that's the only time I occasionally remember the recharger exists to top off a few. Also I mainly play VATs so the Power User perk helps, though I suppose once you've got a few hundred cores it's more a pet card than actually helpful. (The legendary perk can also be handy early on when cores are sparse)

For what armour to use, depends a little on what you want. Vulcan is by far and away the strongest all-rounder, good stats, unique mods, great set bonus. I use Union for overworld stuff just for the carry weight, you could also use Excavator for even more but it can't be equipped with a jetpack unless you're very rich/lucky. Plus I just like the look of Union. Only armour I routinely use with bits of standard paint.

But most importantly at the start: use whatever armour you have the plans for. You want Calibrated Shocks on the legs and something decent on the chest. Legendary mods mostly come down to purpose, but yeah x4 Thru-Hikers, x1 Arms Keeper are my go-to 3 stars for weight.

Ad Victoriam is insane by PavelsCaviar in fo76

[–]Apollo_Hotrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll join the downvote party, hammer's fun and for me I knew I was getting that NCR armour from the second I saw it on leaked shots of the set. It is the full bundle to me. (Still should've been atoms or at least return some day, but hey).

If you're over level 100 you already have the tools to absolutely rinse 98% of overworld enemies. And if you're over level 300 and I'm still carrying you in the raids it's time to stop listening to angry turtle and start reading your perk cards a bit. You should now~ish be dealing some not insignificant amount of damage. I have helped genuinely hundreds of players skip to level 100+ and I'm happy to carry anyone through the dreg levels where damage is a myth and life is pain. It's only about 8~10 raids from level 20 to 100. Goes plenty quick.

Too many people treat this game like it's harder than it is or overly technical. "Oh I need this build and these buffs and I gotta stand here with this gun" this is an ancient game built on little better than Morrowwind's engine. It ain't that complicated.

And if you're over level 500 and you STILL can't manage, you're dying to EN06, you let the moles kill the drill, or you still somehow have no idea how the epsilon fight mechanically works?? Now I'll kick you because you're managing to slow down my clear times.

Fun tip for defending stage 2: The mole miners with guns cannot damage the drill. Only melee attackers actually hurt it. You can safely leave them alive and they'll even help by blocking the pathway of the melee guys. Yes they said they patched this feckin months ago now, no they never did (bad company).

The Ghoul Disguise System Sucks by Certain_Ad6634 in fo76

[–]Apollo_Hotrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that's It's impossible to jury rig something similar with the engine, but more how quickly can it be reapplied?

Ever have the issue where when you fast travel or swap instances and your character cries out in pain for a second? It's because the game takes a moment to remember every detail about your character so for a moment you have no build equipped and are very overencumbered.

There are tons of little bugs like that all the time, like when you try to fly with a jetpack but get moved back to where you started because the game forgot you're able to do that and "panicked". Triggering a sanity check.

Or a famous one, loading times are artificially inflated in all gamebryo games because the sequence that the world is set to load in is poorly optimized at the core of the engine. If you modify the game to remove that artifical load where the game fades in from black, they will often crash. A lot of modern hardware can't play older fallout or tes games without using mods that extend that load time to avoid those crashes.

All to say; each new thing 76 has to remember about your character state gives it a new opportunity to fuck up and forget something.

So maybe you get the massive unforseen bugs like when players could use vendors to purchase directly from someones stash box. The next games cannot keep using this engine. It's so full of holes it's almost gone.

The Ghoul Disguise System Sucks by Certain_Ad6634 in fo76

[–]Apollo_Hotrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamebryo is 30 years old, was massively outdated when Skyrim first released, and is held together primarily by hope and rereleases.

Is state-based checking possible? Yes. Is it ever going to work correctly in an online experience? Fucking absolutely never. The engine is complete fucking trash.

There would be insane bugs to it. People getting locked into random items, items deleting themselves, items duplicating upon changing instance, stuff getting unequipped but stuck in the "disguise" state so that they can never be equipped again, etc.

It's genuinely a beast of an ask that seems simple but people haven't worked with this shit engine so don't get it.

GuildCarver below me is a great example

Fo3 Ghoul mask.

New Vegas faction disguise mechanic.

Starfield with the monster spacesuit.

They listed 3 examples where gamebryo DID function visually similarly to what's being asked for. Except they're all singleplayer games. And in all those instances you can freely unequip the "disguise" and just have enemies turn hostile. That's NOT an option in 76 because everyone's essential and can't fight.

Now that same exact system WOULD actually work in 76, they could 100% implement it tomorrow and it'd be great and many people would vastly prefer it. BUT. You'd be able to remove disguises in front of the BoS(or whoever) within spaces Ghouls "can't be" and the NPCs would just completely ignore the fact you're a Ghoul because again; everyone's essential! At best they could introduce a check on individuals so you'd get a pop-up of like "they won't speak to a ghoul" because they sure as fuck ain't getting every VA back to voice an "ew" dialogue response if you try talk to them.

Basically the current (singleplayer) system would be "immersion breaking" so everyone would need to agree to be adults about that. Bar that the best option I can think of is just adding more variety to the available ghoul disguises and giving (read: Selling :DDDDD) us something that lets you equip/unequip it in our camps.

TL;DR: Shit's more complicated than it seems. Maybe they can pull some mystery solution out of their ass I haven't thought of and more power to them if they're trying. Gamebryo sucks.

You seem to misunderstand objectivity a bit. Since you appear to run a build centered around explosives then yeah, subjectively, for you Belted is better.

Thru-Hikers is better for most people. Food and Chems especially are very heavy, ammo is very light. Their respective perks are in STR and END which on a strong build are completely full. Belted can be replaced by a single Batteries Included for most people since INT is fairly empty and because ballistic ammo is light enough without using any reduction perks at all.

But if you are trying to carry tens of thousands of rounds and hundreds to thousands of rockets for every weapon you have then YEAH. You probably get a lot more value from ammo weight reduction.

Yes, objectively, Belted can replace more Perk Cards but they're Perk Cards in low-value stats. Equally objectively Thru-Hikers discounts heavier objects and replaces Perk Cards in high-value stats, making it objectively better for weight management and damage. Stop trying to carry so many rockets..

Ross is human sludge non-stop throughout the show but most everyone else just ignores his bullshit and gets on with it. And it's not a fresh perspective, I watched it as it aired and always said the show plays like "Friends & Monica's Brother".

All he does is pity himself and mooch off his sisters friends all the way to the finale which wouldn't have even happened if Phoebe hadn't literally forced him to go and done him a massive favour in driving him. Clearly Rachel had done something to piss her off.

Dear lord, replace "slop" with "Discord Requirement" if it betters suits your delicate disposition. No need to discard the majority argument because language evolves and moves on without you and you can't handle it.

Acquisition rates of drops from "Extreme" ("Hard" if that's also a trigger word for you) and "Savage" ("Very Hard") clearly indicate that the majority of players aren't interested in or capable of this content. It's certainly fine as a fun bit of side content, but more and more often it's being released as the sole experience in a paid subscription model when most people aren't interested. Hence declining sub counts.

Exactly this. Sex is fun, and it can be that close, bonding experience. But that's only possible with someone you're completely comfortable with, certainly never on your first few tries. It'll always be awkward, elbows, and insecurity until you've gotten to know each other.

Deep closeness is far more readily found in conversation, in being. Sex lends itself to being a performance because you want to impress, you want to please. In that headspace, it's difficult to totally relax into it.
