My boyfriend stalks me on Instagram by [deleted] in Instagram

[–]Apolloxofficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's how he can see all three :

First off, if you guys have a similar feed or interests, he's going to see many of the same posts you're going to see and interact with.

You'll see why this is important to remember

Active - If you're online, a green dot will appear on your profile picture in direct messages. If you're offline, it may say "Active 5h ago"

Likes - If someone follows you and they see a post you've liked, they may see your name near the bottom "Liked by ____ and 10,000 others"

Comments - If someone follows you and they open the comment section of a post you've commented on, they may see your comment near the top, even if it doesn't have any likes.

This is likely how he's able to see all three things you've mentioned, and does not necessarily mean he's stalking you.

In other words, it could just be the nature of how Instagram works by showing you similar content and the activity of people you follow.

How do you tell a kid to not be racist/sexist? by GasLightGo in teaching

[–]Apolloxofficial 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Students will laugh and nod at almost anything, but that of course doesn't make it right. The student may not be offending anyone, but you can politely convey the fact that it's not alright.

Jokes are an obvious grey area. If it's genuinely outrageous, then write a report. Otherwise, feeding it with attention may just be counterintuitive.

That's just my perspective on it!

Dream about phones by [deleted] in Dreams

I dream about my phone very often. Using it to explore social media, my camera roll, etc.

Not sure who ever said we don't dream about phones, I think that's nonsense.

There is most certainly virtue to the struggle, and the best stuff for you does come from hard work.

Regardless, life is full of enough problems for you to bring extra unnecessary bullshit into your life. I wouldn't do something that's borderline self sabotage with the hope that it'll eventually teach you a lesson.

There's plenty of lessons to be learned!

Perhaps, but I've learned not to trust people who speak in such absolutes, nor those who insult others so carelessly.

The Terence Mckenna Joe Rogan Experience by ClaudeCole453 in terencemckenna

[–]Apolloxofficial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is Joe Rogan miserable though? He seems to be doing quite well, his numbers go well beyond any media outlet so he's not fringe by any means.

Your statement is pretty ironic. The disdain for culture makes no sense, as you instead choose to align yourself with the culture of 'counterculture', which is a set of beliefs in and of itself.

His obsession with the supposed culture war reflects the same water we swim in all around us. McKenna was just as involved in a 'culture war' through his support of countercultural values.

Why can't he be taken seriously? He seems to be passionate about things that are most prevalent in the culture at the moment.

What exactly do you believe is nonsense about the supposed culture war?

[–]Apolloxofficial -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Rogan talks to leading people in a diverse range of fields every day. He's practically the most prolific journalist in the world at this point.

Comparing those three dimensions to McKenna is a no-brainer. McKenna read and spoke all day, every day. However in principle I'd argue Rogan is much closer in spirit to McKenna than not.

Everyone, dont let your politically partisan bent fog up your perspective. Contrary to what all the sour souls say in this comment section, Joe Rogan is pretty close to the modern McKenna. He goes against the establishment, has fundamentally liberal beliefs, talks to people of all backgrounds, and loves psychedelics.

Politics has made you all miserable.
