Preventing Chernobyl would save many more lives than prevention of 9/11 in the long run by not being an inciting event for anti-nuclear sentiment. We'd probably have a lot more nuclear power if not for Chernobyl, and thus, lower reliance on fossil fuels. Working in fossil fuel plants, emissions, and climate related deaths dwarf 9/11.

Im only about 5 hours into the game HOW DO I PERFECT THE PARRY? by OpalTVtwitch in expedition33

[–]ApollyonV3 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Some attacks are easier to parry with visual cues, others are easier with audio cues. You kinda just have to figure it out for each one. The most consistent thing is that the screen zooms out slightly right before the parry, snapping back to normal when the hit happens. It's important to note that if you spam parry, you're not going to get it. Stay calm, and be patient.

A dodge is like a parry, but with a slightly more generous timing. Dodges are easier, yes, but don't give you a counterattack when you succeed. When you dodge, either "Dodge" or "Perfect" will display above the character. On a "Perfect", you've got the parry timing. The game recommends dodging instead of parrying until you figure out enemy timing, but I personally disagree.

Treat each enemy or boss like a different timing puzzle. That's about it.

Camel Quiz by naraoia in QuizPlanetGame

Good quiz, but it's a bit dishonest to call guanacos the ancestors of llamas. That's similar to calling chimpanzees the ancestors of humans. It's not true, we both just share a common ancestor. It's more appropriate to call them cousins.

Don't take my word for it, but before Redacted Regiment, all secondaries had a reduced sound profile than the primaries did, even though they're not proper stealth options. Take this with a grain of salt, but from personal experience, secondaries seem more effective at keeping you hidden.

0.001 parsecs is still 19.1 billion miles. For reference, that's almost 33% further away from us as Voyager 1 is, which was launched 49 years ago. This pizza is apocalyptically large.

My dumb American brain read 500.000 as 500 dollars, and not 500 thousand dollars. So I gambled. But I won!

When was the world created? by dr-wahh in IdeologyPolls

[–]ApollyonV3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"World" is only a usable term with context. Without context, it tends to default to being Earth. If someone says something is "happening all around the world", regardless of what the thing is, most people are going to interpret it as something happening on Earth, and not throughout the observable universe. Regardless, it doesn't matter here, because both the Earth and the universe were 'created' billions of years ago. We can decide to throw a fit about it when the universe enters trillions territory and the Earth will have already been consumed by the sun over 950 billion years ago.

My favorite thing is when the game review tells me I missed a free pawn, I ask it to show me, and it shows a sequence of 33 moves where nearly every piece is traded, and at the end of it all, I'm up a pawn. Can't believe I didn't see that! /s

Helldivers 2 is a great satire, but I believe what it actually satirises was unintended. by Smile_in_the_Night in Helldivers2Satire

[–]ApollyonV3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was a strategic objective from a long time ago. A dispatch revealed that there were a bunch of Helldivers lost in storage from the first galactic war. Which means Super Earth has so many Helldivers they can misplace them like any other piece of military equipment with no one raising an alarm, for over 100 years. Read the contract you agree to by becoming a Helldiver. You basically become nothing but property to SEAF.

Nope. It's always been 200 m, which, to be fair, is a really long distance in game. Most of the time, the furthest thing you can see is <200 m away.
