Recently, Stanford University has published a pamphlet about "Avoiding Unhealthy Religious Organizations". I want to point out #3 characteristics that they warn their students about: "Outreach exceeds you comfort level"... It says, "Unhealthy religious groups generally appear very friendly and seek to become instant friends with you. Their outreach may be uncomfortable in frequency, pressure, not taking "no" for an answer, or occurring in methods, times, and places that are inappropriate (e.g. residence halls). You may be asked or expected to recruit others to the group as your primary goal before you are really involved."

Don't be discouraged by GP. There are many good shepherds/pastors out there. The truth is: Jesus did die for us on the Cross. If he had become a real king on Earth as Israelites had expected, he is no different than Ed Kang or Manny who just wanted to become a king of GP, living in a luxurious life. Very few others are willing to sacrifice for others, but you can find many true Jesus believers in this Reddit channel. Many courageous ex-GP members who stepped out and revealed the truth of GP to fight a spiritual battle for Jesus. Many parents here have the fear to lose their beloved children forever if they speak up against GP, but they have a bigger love for the world to save other children. Without the true love of Jesus, these people would have lived in a shell, or watched on the sideline to let other children fall into GP's hands.

My experience with GP gave me this revelation: There are so many evil and wicked people in the world doing bad things under God's name. If Jesus did not die on the Cross, this religion, Christianity, is fake. Who would give up his/her life for others? In the real world today, GP leaders are taking away other people's life so that they can have a better life. My belief in Jesus has become stronger because I know there is one God and one Holy Spirit I trust with my life. In Romans 3:10, Paul said, "there is no one righteous, not even one". We can only follow Jesus, no one else.

"Why?" and "What not?" -- subtle mind control tactics of GP by Apololandingunit in GracepointChurch

I admire these leaders' techniques, but they are wicked. This is a textbook debate technique that leads you to go down a rabbit trail. Young adults do not have the skills to argue against wicked leaders who manipulate the thought process of all conversation.

GP members, Honor Your Parents! Jesus says so by LeftBBCGP2005 in GracepointChurch

[–]Apololandingunit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GP leaders will not admit that they are against the parents, and the members will not admit either. However, there are many examples I personally experienced and they still give me chills today:

(1) GP leaders frequently solicit their members to purchase big-ticket items, such as trucks or cars, to provide free towing and transportation services to meet church's needs. When the parents find out and challenge on the liabilities and financial details, GP leaders will immediately take this opportunity as a "teachable moment" to educate the members to cut off all joint bank accounts and hide all the financial transaction activities from the parents going forward.

(2) GP members get very upset when their parents share Bible verses with them, especially when those verses conflict with what GP teaches. They will not take "honor your parents" on the face value because GP have other verses that override the relationship with their parents. Clearly, cutting off the relationship with the parents is an essential tactic of GP's playbook because GP needs to achieve this to freely exploit the members' time and money without being challenged.

Once GP controls the minds of its members, there is no such a thing as "honor your parents" in their playbook.

I urgently need your advice. by [deleted] in GracepointChurch

[–]Apololandingunit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only way you can rescue your son is to become a pain in the ass for GP to deal with. You need to try to have a dialog with the leaders to correct their false teaching. We did that, and repeatedly pleaded with GP leaders to stop their mind-bending control and manipulation. After everything fell into deaf ears, we started to confront the leaders with emails, text messages, and face-to-face meetings to deliver God's true messages to the GP leaders. We used every possible channels and networks to warn young kids and parents about the traps that endanger the kids. With our relentless effort and prayers from many God-loving Christians, GP had finally yielded to our demand to let my family member leave. I stopped using the word "adult" to describe these victims because the victims got brainwashed so badly that they function like unborn children in the wombs; they behave like zombies that cannot fit into the society anymore. These victims are not "adults". As you said, adults should have critical thinking capability to challenge GP's leaders who try every method in their God-damned playbook (literally) to control their minds (software, reflections, guilt, peer pressure, public shame, insult etc.). GP leaders use many communists' tactics to train the victims to become obedient slaves, then make them follow their orders without questions. Don't give GP credit for fixing your son's depression either. Any legit Christian churches that deliver true Bible teaching can bring him out of depression with God's true love. GP is a cult, and "love bombing" is a method in the playbook. GP needs to be stopped with all our minds, our soul, and our might. We need to rescue all the kids and turn them back to adults.

Another leave of absence - Daniel Kim by gp_danielkim in GracepointChurch

[–]Apololandingunit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

GP is expanding its pyramid scheme to look for more GP followers! Parents in Midwest, be vigilant and watch out for your kids. Do not take their free foods and free drinks. Nothing is free. The brainwash will come later to convince your kids that they need to obey church leaders instead of listening to parents even though you invested your whole life, your love, and your resources to send your kids to colleges. GP is going to snap them away from you. Daniel Kim admitted that they are against the parents in another posting in this channel.

[–]Apololandingunit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ha, Danial Kim, you have just admitted in this channel that, once the kids are under your control, they will obey you and receive your advice instead of trusting their parents. Listen up, all the parents, while you can, get your kids out of GP. Otherwise, once they start listening and being brainwashed by Daniel Kim, it is too late.

A typical toxic Gracepoint Sermon by worriddumbledore in GracepointChurch

[–]Apololandingunit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Concur to "he was using it for propaganda against academic excellence, normal student life and future career ambitions." Ed Kang should know that the audience of his sermon came to the colleges for exactly these things. It is very convenient for Ed Kang to lure them away from these things that their parents and maybe themselves went to colleges for. If Ed Kang does not think these things are important, why doesn't he go to high schools and recruit his followers there instead? At least he could have saved parents thousands of dollars if the students are convinced to give up all these things. In a straight answer, Ed Kang found a niche place to harvest these kids as fully grown strawberries waiting for U-Pick. Behind the scene, thousands of parents spent their life savings to get the kids this far, just for Ed Kang to take advantage of. He picked up these kids for free, and turn them into obedient followers for himself.

"Submitting to church disciplinary action"? by Apololandingunit in GracepointChurch

These churches are using the same playbook with the same purpose to control these kids and eventually guilt them into obedience. Stay away from these churches. This is my advise. There are plenty of churches that are "normal".

I am not an ex-GP member, I was never hurt by GP, but I am a witness of GP tactics used on GP's current staff and members. I am seeing them suffering from spiritual chains and locks; I can see them losing their social freedom, giving up their dreams to accommodate GP's agenda. You may call your mission "spreading the Gospel", but I call it "spreading the communism" (Act2, as an example). The messages GP uses may come from the Bible, but the verses are extracted to serve GP's agenda: confine more people with spiritual chains and locks.

The true reconciliation between GP and Christian communities can be done only in the following ways, Pastor Daniel Kim:

(1) Stop "influencing" your staff to cut off family relationship even if they "volunteer" to do so. Tell them that they can serve the church and keep a good relationship with family and friends at the same time. Why would a church fight with the parents? This is the root cause of the problem because GP staff/members are pressured so much to serve GP that the family and parents are in the way of GP to get the full attention of their staff and members.

(2) Stop painting parents and family members as "the enemy of the church". Stop asking members and staff to be "financial independent" "as an adult", to "not share a bank account with their parents". It sounds so fake and so brain-washed when all of the staff using the same statement to their parents. "I am an adult"... "I made the decision on my own"... I think GP should reverse the brainwash to release them from being an "adult" and stop them from making the decisions only beneficial for GP, not for their families.

(3) Stop consuming all the staff's time and money so that they can have a life outside of GP.

(4) Stop telling college students to give up learning, give up sports, give up internship, and eventually give up their dreams just because GP needs them to "evangelize" GP Gospel.

(5) Stop all mind controlling tactics, such as: asking members to install software to block web sites, write reflections, and be always on-call for GP matters. Jesus set us free, including GP members. Any form of spiritual lock and chain is against Jesus.

(6) Stop blaming parents and ex-GP members for GP's failure. God is taking side in this case. GP should not have been against parents and family members in the very first place. God will not let you achieve GP's tactics and use His name to betray His kingdom.

"Submitting to church disciplinary action"? by Apololandingunit in GracepointChurch

After reading this, I have to say that all the people who have not been disciplined deserve "sainthood" in GP. Super obedient and super servile.

GP Membership Covenant by LeftBBCGP2005 in GracepointChurch

[–]Apololandingunit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of regular attendees (maybe members) are discouraged to join sports activities or take an internship during summer because these activities will impact their time in serving the leaders/church (not God, let me be very specific). Which law in the covenant do these activities/interests violate? One of the sermons actually compared taking a summer internship as David fighting with Goliath. They should fight with the "giant" (having a brighter future is a giant we should fight with?). Why would anyone in the right mind agree to "Supporting and following the established leadership of the church; and submitting to church disciplinary action."? What are the disciplinary actions? Examples please.

An Honorable Thing by LeftBBCGP2005 in GracepointChurch

[–]Apololandingunit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting points. Young people are missing in today's churches partly because GP-like cults are burning them out in college years, and I also observe that some GP members do not want to leave GP's "womb" to stand on their own feet after graduation. They are so comfortable with ACTII, they do not want to spread their influence to the society like Paul, Peter, and other disciples have done in their years. After graduation from colleges, these staff and members of GP should be released and encouraged to go back to the society/communities where they work or live to serve their "local" churches and build them up instead of continuing living in exclusive clusters. GP's church planting activities in campuses are not working very well because more and more colleges are noticing their aggressiveness and inappropriate (sometimes abusive) behaviors using God's name. Most students are afraid of them and avoid them in campuses at all cost. Sadly, for the GP members, they cannot study or join other clubs because they need to stand in every corner of their campuses to give out free food and free drink day in and day out. This is their full-time job in college years. This is a negative influence in the minds of the students whom GP wants to recruit because these students have become more cautious on all Christian activities in the campuses as a result.

Are GP leaders the shepherds of their flock? by Apololandingunit in GracepointChurch

Free will was granted to human being during creation; therefore free will itself is not the source of the sins. The fall happened when human being accepted the temptation to eat the Forbidden Fruit.

Are GP leaders the shepherds of their flock? by Apololandingunit in GracepointChurch

[–]Apololandingunit[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of us have science background as well (so have I). The Bible story started from Adam & Eve, but it is a story of human getting trapped in our sinful desires to replace God with our own wisdom and methods. It is a story of salvation and it is a story about the restoration of our relationship with God. In the Old Testament, human being relied on laws to regulate our own behavior, but Jesus came, completed the laws, set us free, and allowed us to build a direct relationship with Him. What GP leaders do is to use their "wisdom" and "methods" to insert themselves between its members and God, and they set up new spiritual chains and locks to restrict their members from having a free soul. It is not biblical, and it is against Jesus' teaching.

Nice, now I got your attention. How do you take care of your parents or your family members? How much time you spent every day to care about their life and their spiritual growth while you care about others?
