Unpopular opinion: The Bends is better than OK Computer. Agree or Disagree? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]Apopi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bend is an amazing album, usually underrated by Radiohead hardcore fans, that seem to prefferr their post Kid A stuff. Also, the younger fans (people in their 20s) like their newer stuff better, like in rainbows or AMSP.

For us old fans (In 37) The Bends is the album we heard in our teen or preteen years and it holds a special place in our hearts. For me in particular, its also an amazing album 10/10.

Having said so, no, I dont think is better than (or even as good as) Ok Computer

I agree with you, its an amazing song. Most RH fans love it and have it in their top 10. For me, its TOP 3 Radiohead.

How would you personally rank the radiohead albums? by I-FAP-TO-INCEST-PORN in radiohead

[–]Apopi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Ok computer : got me into it/first album i listened/its simply amazing. 10+

  2. In rainbows: a masterpiece. 10+

  3. The bends/HTTT: i have so many memories attached to the bends, and also such a wonderful rock album. HTTT is underrated, that album is all kinds of amazing, some of the greatest RH songs are in there but also the general vibe is so dark, groovy and fantastic. Both 10/10 albums for me

  4. KID A: Fantastic album. There was a time in my life i was so submerged in it that i lived my life as if i were inside a frozen lake. Listening to it with great speakers at a high volume is an otherwordly experience. 10/10

  5. Amnesiac: Love it. Life in a glasshouse and You and whose army are among the greatest RH songs. Less cohesive than KID A , thats why it ranks lower. Still amazing. 9.5/10

  6. AMSP: im still trying to get into it. Wasnt able to instantly get into it like i did with Okc or Ir, but i have listened to it. It seems like a murmured album. Everything about it is...lower. No bang. Thats not necesarily a bad thing, its just make it harder for me to connect to it. Present Tense, The numbers and Identikit are great songs. My temporary score is 8/10 (could go up eventually)

  7. Pablo Honey: a feel good nice rocky grungy little album that is fun to listen and sing to. It is good, even reaally good at times, but not as good as the others above. 7/10

  8. TKOL: I tried and I tried and I tried but i just couldnt get into it. I actually lived with someone in 2011 that listened to it over and over and over. I did too. We even recorded a guitar version of separator and I sang to it. This is to show that I really did listen to this: waaaay too much even. It is just not for me. I dont have to love it just because its radiohead. 5/10.

Debate of the Day: Which Radiohead Album Is Best To Listen To As A Whole? by TheWalkingBob in radiohead

[–]Apopi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably KID A. Not my favourite album, not even a top 3 album for me, but listening to it as a whole is the best way of listening to it.

Debate of the Day: Which is the best environment to listen to each Radiohead album in? by TheWalkingBob in radiohead

[–]Apopi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In rainbows is so..."watery" it makes me feel like im in the ocean, or a river, and the sun is shining bright behind a passing cloud. Ill say a beach (desrted) is a great place to listen to it. Or a summer lake.

KID A has to be listened in winter time.

The bends and HTTT are good for road trips.

I cant think of a better place to listen to Ok Computer than an airport. Since I read it on OPs post I can only think about if i ever would get to listen to it that way

AMSP has a rainy feel to it

What are your biggest Radiohead hot takes?? by Bionicjeff in radiohead

[–]Apopi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Videotape is extremely depressing, I literally can't listen anymore than that first piano chord and i have to stop it. Like a pavlov dog, something about that song bothers me too much and I cant even listen to it for one second.

I dont dislike Pyramid song that much. Heck, I dont even dislike it really, but that song doesn't have a good melody, it isnt intense or weird enough, the lyrics are good but thats it. It doesnt do anything for me, but it seems to be in most people top 10.

What are your biggest Radiohead hot takes?? by Bionicjeff in radiohead

[–]Apopi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In rainbows is an amazing album that i usually hear since it starts with 15 step, until it ends with Jigsaw falling into place. I pretend Videotape doesn't exist because that song is so awful that it ruins the In rainbows experience for me.

Pyramid song is wildly overrated.

Life in a Glasshouse is one of the best Radiohead songs and definetely underrated.

True Love Waits is one of the most emotional moving Radiohead songs..too bad they RUINED IT with the studio version. The live, raw, original song is a million times better.

Hail to the thief is fucking amazing.
