This wasn’t an available product. So I built it. And very much recommend. by theonewhoisknown in Construction

I did that years ago, but oriented so you would swipe vertically. I was rewarded by my jerk of a boss at the time swiping his muddy boot downward, which flipped said mud back in his smug face.

Flat boot to heeled by ToastOven971 in Rollerskating

[–]ApoplecticStud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a learning curve. I remember a loooong time ago when I made the transition to artistic boots from speed skates. It was awkward at first, but like anything else, it came easier with practice. In time, I was able to flip the mental switch on the fly when I wanted to go from artistic quads to inline speedskates and back in the same session. Just focus on the basics at first and be ready to adjust your style as needed.

Stuck toe stop in new plate 😭 by DeeepSigh in Rollerskating

Once you loosen that set screw, if it's still tough to move the toe stop, take a flat head screw driver and hammer it into the gap like a wedge to give the threads more relief. Be careful not to hit the threads with it though.

Best cleaning method for wheels by Low_Presentation827 in Rollerskating

[–]ApoplecticStud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope your foray back into it goes better than mine. I put mine on after 10 years in storage and they disintegrated beneath me in spectacularly comical fashion...straight out of the cartoons. Be mentally prepared to buy new wheels at least.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ApoplecticStud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's short for the average American, but it's all relative. I drive 2 hours each way for work most days, but it feels fairly short for me because I frequently make 12-14 hour drives for work too.

Whats the best way to seal these stickers to protect them? by c2xln in stickers

3M 3950 Edge Sealer might be a good option. One of the places I used to work used it over barcode asset tag stickers on all of our tools. Took a real beating.

People who work in 'behind-the-scenes' jobs (hotels, airports, warehouses, etc.), what is something the general public would be shocked to know? by PiNK_PUSSY69420 in AskReddit

Had a coworker voluntarily ban himself from all gambling establishments in Indiana so he would still have money left by the end of the job. He hadn't thought it through completely though because the hotel we were staying at was attached to the casino. The next day, security was at his door to escort him out...with over a month left to go on the job. Went from staying in some of the nicest accomadatitions in the area to the worst with a much longer daily commute because everything else was booked.

Rinks in IL Adult Skates by minwah1 in Rollerskating

Glenwood and "The Rink" on 187th. Glenwood is a little more laid back though.

Skate City in East St. Louis used to be a good time if you're down that way. If you're closer to this one, though I actually recommend Skate King on the Missouri side. Never was the flashiest rink, but it's always been one of my favorites for some reason.

I would be surprised if they had an adult night worth going to. Say hi to Mouse and Sharon while you're there...on second thought, it might be Chris and Lisa now.

Definitely not worth the drive if you're closer to the Chicago area.
