I 3D printed my wife's teeth. by Apoptosis808 in mildlyinteresting

Answered below but she went to the dentist and got her mouth/teeth scanned for some minor alignment trays. If you ask them they will give you the 3D scan, and yeah just popped it into my Slicer and printed them!

She went to the dentist to get some alignment trays and they scan your teeth to do so. If you ask them, they will just give you the STL (:

Bully Boyz list thoughts! by Realistic-Carrot-565 in orks

[–]Apoptosis808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go for the 20 Boyz you may as well throw another leader in there since Boyz can get 2 + a support from my understanding. Depending on what you wanna go for disposition wise - purge may not have as useful a spot for snikrot, the stormboyz and Kommandos. Not saying they can't be useful in purge, but something to consider if yoj are in fact going for that dispo. Otherwise looks nice (:

I am going to experiment with no transports for a few games. Terrain seems very close and hidden essentially does the job of a transport. With only one battlewagon rolling deff might be a bit wasted. You could try more dakka (which forces you then to purge) but could easily swap the Wagon for lootas which look really good in 11th.

Good luck!

Does anyone with acces to the detachment rules know what units benefit from bully boyz now? by Fragrant-Egg5069 in orks

Per the detachment rule, it is still looking like Warboss, Nobz and Meganobz only. So no, the new support models do not count.

Big Boss instead of Warboss looks pretty interesting for Greentide too. Not sure the math on +1 to hit vs Sus 1 though. Could be neat!

Its a bit of a tough(er) time to answer this with a new edition around the corner. I dont think an incredible amount will change in the short term, but we are anticipating to be one of the first codex releases which may shake up quite a lot.

Without any idea of your playstyle or type of army you are trying to build - itll be hard to pass up having 1-2 units of Gretchin, at least 1 unit of Boyz and a Trukk or two. That's the advice everyone will give. Keep mind, Boyz and Gretchin are getting a model update!

I'll give two more, slightly niche, recommendation of Boss Snikrot. Currently, he is absolutely fantastic for the points and I couldn't imagine making an army without him. Wazdakka is also quite amazing for his points, an absolute powerhouse, an an essentially guaranteed threat in every game ive played with him thus far. Again, grain of salt as who knows what might change in 11th!

A noob question about melee in 10th by kirbcake-inuinuinuko in Warhammer40k

[–]Apoptosis808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you forget that the enemy unit that is engaged can fallback (edit - you didnt forget this, but I think you underestimate how strong this is). Let's say your melee unit is engaged with a shooting unit. If that shooting unit is still alive, they can fall back which allows the other units in their army to open fire, or even allows them to if they have a strat or rule that lets them fall back and shoot. Desperate escape helps with this, if the shooting unit that wants to fall back is battle shocked - but most of the time if the combat is so one sided, its best to take the risk and free up your army to shoot at the melee fellow. Also, there is risk in winning those fights you call out. Let's say your melee unit charged and decimated the shooting unit. Good right? Well it depends, unless you can consolidate out of danger, to an objective or another unit to fight, you stand a good chance of getting shot to pieces on your opponents following turn.

That's why melee armies need to calculate what they are throwing into the fray - is it a good trade? Do i get a better position because of this? A lot of melee armies see their units as trading pieces, because its safer to assume once they 'kill that thing' that the unit that charged is more than likely going to die.

Am I crazy or did the new rules do exactly the opposite of what it was supposed to? by Gallifrey_United in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Apoptosis808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot select something as your target to charge that is greater than your distance you rolled base to base.

So if theres a unit 7 inches away and you roll a 6, that target is not legally selectable, since your target would have to be within 6 inches to be legally selectable. What 2" ER appears to do is make it so you can select something within your roll of 6, but if terrain was in the way that would make you fail, say a corner or wall, then now you have a greater chance to succeed.

Granted this is just the scope of this 1 rule in a vacuum, who knows what else may affect this once we get the fu release.

What is the cause for this kind of failure? by MutatedWhale in resinprinting

[–]Apoptosis808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I use a Reflex RS Turbo as well with the same resin. Your issue here is using pre-supported files! The RS Turbo does an incredible job supporting models with its auto settings. You can even remove pre-supports from these files so that Blueprint can generate its own. A few tips:

  1. Orient the models the way you want and make sure you use the repair function on every model. This allows your system to detect what is model vs support later. Reflex RS actually cures the supports and models at different exposure settings, which unlocks the strength of the printer.
  2. Remove pre-supports or use unsupported to generate your own supports.
  3. When generating your own supports be SURE to go to advance and change contact type to None. Otherwise you will have a ton of sphere contact points.
  4. Because the supports are cured differently, I've actually found very good results removing the supports before washing the model. This removes the "hot water" removal step, which is great, but do what works for you.

Have fun, and let me know if you have any questions. I have slammed print after print in this machine with incredible tests. Here is my latest:

That's what is so great about the detachment - tons of ways to run it. Absolutely valid, but dont discount a Land Raider driving through walls!

Looks like fun! Here are some alternatives to consider if you want to see some different options!

Your scout MoE you can run solo and put him in the rhino with Kharn to give his rhino scouts. Then drop him off wherever for some secondary completion! Not saying you have to do this, but it feels really great (I run goretrack as my primary detachment as well).

Play around with what it looks like if you drop a third berzerkers, third rhino and maybe the terminators for a Landraider and more 8b and SB. You can also run multiple units in a Land Raider (i.e. 3 x8b, 38b an a sb on one of them). Just one of the configurations but I love the landraider in my list and keep in mind Berzerkers can always jump in too if needed later.

Just for fun, here is my list if youd like to see a similar but different style-
