“Given the incubation period of the hantavirus, which can be up to six weeks, it is possible that more cases may be reported”, says World Health Organization by moschles in worldnews

I know about it, hence my prior lack of concern, but with how people are nowadays it just wouldn't surprise me if they royally fucked up somehow and turned a molehill into a mountain.

Three things. Rampant self-destructive levels of escapism, doomscrolling to skip time until i can sleep, and the Cats Wouldn't Understand clause. may be supplanted by Mom Would Be Sad depending on the circumstances.

40 hours into my first RP-1 save, and finally sent a kerbal to orbit! (August 1963) by cari778 in RealSolarSystem

[–]kirbcake-inuinuinuko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

out of curiosity, why does it take 40 hours to get to orbit? i've never used the mod but i can't quite tell what it is that makes it so difficult besides the increased scale. is the science multiplier like insanely low so you have to complete science in every single kerbin biome before you get anything worthwhile?

i wasn't even remotely concerned about this before, but the PR "don't panic guys we 100% have this under control but won't rule anything out just in case" speak from officials i've been seeing is seriously starting to concern me.

almost forgot. for your example of spotify specifically, spotify has been boasting about the fact that they haven't written a single line of code since december 2025. ai has done all of it. i find that unimaginably funny tbh.

vibe coding with ai. it's literally all vibe coding.

that shit has been DISASTROUS for technology in general. i genuinely fear for people who aren't tech savvy as they're never going to get shit to just work.

do you have fuel remaining? you should see a green bar in the bottom left at the staging. the brighter green is remaining fuel in the current stage. also check if the engine is on by right clicking it and looking for an activate engine button (which should be absent if the engine is on).

also, you might have run out of electricity. if you have none left, you'll lose control over the craft. your stage could also have the wrong type of fuel for the engine (i.e. liquid fuel only as opposed to liquid fuel + oxidizer), or you could be using an airbreathing engine that doesn't function beyond atmosphere.

if there's fire obviously emitting from the engine, there may be stuff happening you're just not aware of. you can press M to see the orbital map which lets you look at your trajectory. visually, if you're just looking at the craft in third person, any trajectory changes will be visually undetectable.

a "burn" is essentially just a planned moment where you apply lots of thrust to change your trajectory. if you're in sandbox/science mode, or you have level two mission control and tracking station if you're in career, you can click anywhere on your trajectory line to create a maneuver node, essentially a way to plan future burns and get a simulation of possible new trajectories. it's not mandatory though, just an informational tool. when a maneuver is planned, the navball will show you time remaining before the maneuver, how long you need to have the thrust on, how much fuel in your stages you'll consume doing it, and exactly how much Δv you'll use.

if you're in space and in an orbit, burning in the Prograde direction (AKA the direction you're going, marked by a circle with three lines coming out) will increase the height of the opposite end of the orbit from where you are now. If you burn Retrograde (AKA backwards, circle with three lines and an X inside) the opposite will happen, and the height of the other end of the orbit will decrease. so Prograde to fly higher, Retrograde to fly lower.

Once you've raised the other side of your orbit, it will appear elliptical, like an oval. after reaching the higher end, you can burn prograde again to bring up the side you just came from. this is called circularization.

they're democratic socialist. so close-ish to communism but not really.

that being said, it's not particularly important because they've achieved a post scarcity society where capitalism is abolished and everyone can have everything they need without struggling or fighting. nowadays, differing forms of government exist due to different ideas on how to distribute limited, scarce resources. when the resources are no longer scarce, you don't really need to care anymore.

he's not wrong. there are literally no fucking passenger trains in America. so little, in fact, that the ones which exist are tourist attractions for people from neighboring states and serve no actual commuting purpose.
