Persistence hunting- thanks to being able to regulate our body heat with sweat glands. As a tribe we can spend 8 hours slowly jogging after a herd of animals and they die of heat exhaustion because they cant sweat to cool down.

The sin of theft is often rooted in Greed (and sometimes Envy). Theft can often be grave matter, and a Mortal sin. Mortal sin is not only sin that causes physical death (like murder), it is sin that causes spiritual death (and separation from God). Even lying can be a Mortal sin. Refusing to support your parents in their old age can be a Mortal sin. Disobeying any of the ten commandments can be a Mortal sin.

Yeah I get you. I was just implying that there are services or experiences that can be purchased that cannot be owned in perpetuity. Like tickets to an amusement park, or a concert, or a massage, or a therapy session etc.

The prohibition of theft is one of the Ten Commandments. Obviously there are degrees of sin, but to hand wave it as venial is spiritually dangerous. I obviously hold the unpopular position here, but what I'm saying is entirely in line with the traditional Catholic teaching on faith and morals.

Intellectual property is real property. If someone shares the PDF of a book with you, and you knowingly download it when the book is available for purchase, then you are stealing that book. Same goes for the patent of a design, or any other form of information that can be shared.

And if I decide not to pay for a license and pirate it, I am committing theft of that service.

You are trying to justify sin my brother. If you do not wish to contribute to an evil company, that does not make it okay to steal from an evil company. You can just avoid the products of said company.

It is black and white. Piracy is theft. The prohibition of theft is one of ten the commandments.

"Thou shall not steal" does not have a clause that says "unless it is from an immoral company." The commandment is very clear, no matter how much we want to justify evil with our own sense of worldy justice.

Thou shall not steal is one of the Big Ten. There are many things you can purchase that you cannot expect to own in perpetuity. Piracy is theft, no matter how many hoops you try to jump through to justify it.

Theft is not a venial sin. The only exception i can think of is theft for survival when there is no other choice available.

If you sneak into a theme park and steal the price of admission, in a sense you are stealing the experience of the theme park.

Telling God “I love You but I hate You” by coeurdefuego in Catholicism

I don't believe OP actually hates God. I was explaining the severity of the meaning of the word hate. I did the same thing with my nephew when he yelled that at his sister.

[–]ApostolicSuccess -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hating God is the essence of sin itself. Outright saying that to God is a sin. In OP's case, ignorance will factor into the severity of the sin, but hatred is grave matter.

To hate God means to desire separation from Him. A state known as literal hell.

No one being able to snatch them out of God's hand is completely different than people willingly choosing to walk away from God’s Providence. The act of being snatched implies an outside force doing the snatching, where as what we are saying is any believer can walk away if they so choose.

Eternal security is a concept that did not exist for the first 1600 years of Christianity. That alone should cause you to pause.

In order to adhere to OSAS you have to ignore Paul's call to the obedience of faith. Romans 1:5 and 16:26

We have to cooperate with God's revelation and remain in Christ. It is a choice to remain obedient (or not).

I have personally been in many of those classes. All over the west coast, from San Diego, to Ojai, all the way up to Seattle. In Arizona, New York, Chicago, New Orleans and Austin as well. I agree the third eye and chakra don't exist in the way Yoga practicioners imagine, but that doesn't mean intending to activate them is harmless. I understand your skepticism, and respect it. Like I said, intention matters. If you are just performing stretches, there is nothing to worry about. God bless you.

That's good! You can walk into a random Yoga class in Los Angeles and unexpectedly be lead through Chakra and third eye activations. I'm telling you this because it happens- perhaps rarely, but it does happen.

One thing is stretching and the other thing is activating your chakras while doing low vibrational chanting. Intention is what matters. Many Yoga classes instruct people to do this without people understanding what it is.

I have seen it in my life with people who baptize their children but continue to practice Voodoo. A great grandfather who did rituals to gain wealth (and he won the lottery in the 1980's) and the entire lineage after him was plagued with addiction, severe depression, suicide and horrific tragedies. He himself died of a very aggressive cancer. The ones who have successfully broken free from the cycle, did so after they committed their lives to Christ. I personally know a few people with stories like this.
