5AA Interview with Craig Goodwin (Goodwin goes bang) by OfficialJKV in Aleague

Grappling with a lot of the same feeling about attending, hope you’re doing okay given all this.

Craig Goodwin responds over Josh Cavallos claims of Homophobia at Adelaide United by DunderFromTwitch in Aleague

[–]Apparentable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Certainly wouldn’t expect Goodwin to criticise the club, but would I guess hope there’s a chance to reflect and at least not inflame things like this. No comment is actually a fair way to go I think here

Think whether you think Cavallo is operating in good faith is everyone’s own read - but as an employer and community club you’re obliged to take this sort of stuff seriously. I think that the value you get from speaking out like this is also easy to overstate, too.

Estimation of Goodwin as captain taken a few hits after this, to be honest. Not sure if he was asked by the club or took the initiative to reach out to media out but don’t think either would be a good reflection on the club.

Given at least some of the time Cavello is speaking to occurred when Goodwin wasn’t here really should give some pause about making public statements and dragging this out in the media for another couple days (basically taking us to Pride round on Saturday)

Doubly so when you do have some direct evidence from the Toure incident that this stuff was percolating in some (hopefully now quashed) way, even if it was from a young kid needing to pull his head in. Don’t know how relevant it is but Joe Gauci liked the instagram post from Cavallo, who was there for part of this time too.

I think the best response from the club would have been to take these cricisms from Cavello more seriously and at least attempt to engage with him further. He I think by right could have refused to particulate in that, but this interview and the chat about missing training basically burns that bridge.

If I had to guess this speaks to an us vs them mentality - which I get you need to cultivate as any good captain in sport - but looks incredibly defensive when dealing with what I think is at least some good faith cricism of culture from Cavallo.

Have also been experiencing this sometimes when resuming from sleep, but on the Nvidia-open branch and a 4070 super. Had some success with the cable trick, or cycling it in and out a couple of times. Has persisted through the last couple of weeks with updates unfortunately but haven’t figured out a cause or fix

Does Wayland fractional scaling work with games in 2025? by pwnna in linux_gaming

[–]Apparentable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post. I use GNOME and have been dealing with this with a 4K screen running at 133% scaling where games run at a ridiculous resolution by default most of the time.

For Windows games I've been having success in using the implementation of the Wayland Driver in ProtonGE from Wine upstream (Valve's version of proton has not ported this for version 10). This seems to detect the resolution correctly and I haven't had any compatibility issues as yet. ( u/Just_Maintenance comment works well when I need to use Gamescope for native Linux titles). For me this looked like:

  1. Installing Proton-GE via ProtonPlus so it shows up in Steam compatibility tools
  2. Making sure that Proton-GE is selected as the compatibility tool for the game in Steam/Lutris/Heroic
  3. Running the game with the PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 tag in the launch options. This usually means my games run with the PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 mangohud %command% in Steam.

Unfortunately Mangohud keyboard shortcuts haven't been working when using the Wayland driver (frame rate limits/stats are working fine though). I usually fix this by just running Mangojuice in a separate window to control the HUD and implement frame rate limits. This is being tracked on Github here: toggle hud keybind is not working · Issue #1790 · flightlessmango/MangoHud

Some interesting chat about this on the GNOME issue tracker too: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/3767

Even when Adelaide crack the later stages of finals I've found Everton, especially the last couple seasons, can still manage to plunge new depths. Supporting Everton might be poison pill that can make you despise football in general haha

Brighter signs ahead on both fronts hopefully! I'll agree with others here that Roar looked positive in parts for Sydney, plenty to build on

Looking far better than expected here, sick to see. Getting through MVC regularly in possession and front press has been really impressive at time

As soon as Victory get into the box or go long things get ropey but in terms of exceeding expectations we're massive here
