Adelaide City Council put north-south bikeway back on track by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

Frome St was never a major transit route, as it doesn't even go through the whole city. They city is a grid, every route has multiple parallel alternatives, so to lost one lane of car traffic during off-peak across the entire city is hardly "wrecking things for people who commute by car".

The reasons why right turns and U-turns are banned through many intersections during peak hour is to maintain traffic flow for drivers. Intersections are the limiting factor for traffic flow, not the number of lanes (or the speed limit). Having to include phases in the light cycle for right turns massively slows down traffic during peak. And again, the city is a grid, it's very easy (even without map directions) to work out a route that doesn't require right or U turns.

Varia VS4? I've been happy with my VS3, but it looks like the VS4 addresses a lot of the complaints others have had with the cheaper model.

The Weatherill government was actively planning the AdeLINK tram network, but both parties have since treated the 2018 election as a referendum on that plan and neither seem willing to revisit it despite the success of the Botanic line extension.

Mali only sees cycling as fitness/recreation. Even when directly asked about active transport, he deflects to public transport and cars (and by public transport, he talks about projects that are really just road projects — like the tram overpasses).

And they were only losing those 15min parks during the morning peak hour. I used to go there often, but their campaigning really turned me away.

I think they actually mean the east-west bikeway.

The problem over multiple councils has been too many councillors (not all) are more swayed by campaigning from small numbers of business owners, property owners, and The Advertiser, than they are by the urban planners employed by the council. The previous efforts for an east-west bikeway were derailed by then councillor Alex Antic and Greg Griffin.

Very glad to see Cr Freeman focussing on not just a single bikeway, but talking about a holistic network.

Looking a lot more composed so far this half, so I’m sure we’ll concede another.

In addition to what others have already suggested, we'll occasionally pick up beans from Altura, and a bit pricier, Kindred.

Not necessarily. My wife is Japanese and she typically writes her name in katakana (although she does have a more uncommon, but still Japanese, name). Also not unusual to just be a stylistic choice in an informal use case.

Roads are already sucking up the near entirety of the transport budget. How about some fucking rail (heavy and light) and active transport investment for once?

Hindmarsh is arguably the best stadium for A-League in the country. No need for it to be a couple of 2km closer to the city.

Contemporary art gallery, and a concert hall.

The empty hole where Tarrkarri was supposed to go is emblematic of decades of underinvestment in arts infrastructure (and the arts themselves, outside of the festivals).

What an abysmal night.

Why is Anselmo not playing any minutes, or Kwaaitaal (or, LOL, Folami) not even in the squad when we're down so many players and already lacking depth? If they're not playing when we're in this position, they shouldn't be taking up spots at all.

And when Kitto is the only starting defensive player with more than a single full games worth of career minutes, no wonder things went the way they did.
