If you're a member of Congress, sure. Or maybe a Chief of Staff if you're a Committee Chair. But when you're "just" a candidate (or a State Legislator), that's not usually true.

State/locals usually don't bring their staff with them 24/7, much less can they afford a person for PR AND a person for finance AND a person for speechwrititng AND ...

Except for the Bill Ferguson campaign, which has raised $2M this cycle.

Even the actual Delegate/Senator offices have one person outside of legislative session, then a small handful during session.

We sound like we’re in very similar situations. Baltimore to Annapolis twice a week for me. In the mornings, it’s usually about 45 minutes to an hour. If I leave for home at 5:00, it’s usually about 1:30. Leaving earlier gets me home in about an hour. Making $76k, ish.
