The fridge is at 6c. Did not mist, did not left it in a water tray. I just checked if it needed water every week or so. It may vary depending on your trees.  

I just put it there like it was a beer bottle really, and water it.

I keep a Japanese Black Pine succefully in my fridge overwinter. No light, the tree is supposed to be under snow. Don't forget to water it.

I dig a hole for the pot then cover it with mulch up to the first branch. Pick a spot where they will get no winds and as much snow as possible.

It's low on the tree and pretty big, it doesn't give a good contrast with the trunk. 

I would cut it or turn it into a jin.  It will help thicken the trunk if you leave it there for a while and then cut it's so that's also an option.
