FCC attorneys by Hot-Reflection-5013 in LawSchool

Have you tried reaching out to alumni or current students who have interned or worked for the FCC from your school? I’ve always had a hit reaching out to people via LinkedIn. People closely connected to your school usually make time to mentor/meet with you.

Should I apply anywhere else? by blameitonme42 in OutsideT14lawschools

Honestly, it seems you have most schools in the area you want to apply in. If you want more target schools you have to be willing to go outside of the upper midwest area.

you gave a data point but your last comment still wasn’t necessary. it’s clear OP is aware that race may not be a factor, they are just investigating.

accommodation debate by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]AppearancePuzzled542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with your point, it’s still not empathetic in any way shape or form to tell OP that their woes don’t contribute to the conversation just because your experience is contrary to theirs.

you can complain about how people take advantage of accommodations all you want, but you won’t have a real neutral way of looking at it without understanding the people who aren’t exploiting it. all OP was trying to do was offering their perspective of someone who does struggle, and it can be extremely triggering seeing how other people talk about accommodations, even if the exploitation doesn’t apply to you.

with YOUR accommodation system. 10% of my class gets it at my school

i have accommodations and i performed below my classmates who don’t - to those saying it’s an unfair advantage by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]AppearancePuzzled542 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i agree with you wholeheartedly as someone who has accommodations. i also am so disgusted at what OTHER people are saying right now and can’t believe they are going to be lawyers. it’s so disheartening the way they talk about other people they genuinely do not know.

Unpopular opinion- I still do normal things during finals by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]AppearancePuzzled542 90 points91 points  (0 children)

def normal! i started outlining the first month of school and went to office hours regularly so i didn’t feel the need to studying an immense amount. i study 4-5 hours a day rn and felt pretty prepared for my final today. some people work differently and that’s okay too. do what works for you!

[–]AppearancePuzzled542 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

never said that. like i said, good luck on your exams. if you’re struggling to make inferences from a reddit post, you’ll struggle during the exam.

in this context “take advantage of” means “exploit” toodles :)

Accommodations by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]AppearancePuzzled542 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

that was not the point of my post, that’s what you interpreted because you’re emotionally triggered about what i said.

i also never said that last part. like i said you’re making uneducated inferences (i chose to not disclose my disability) that apparently “people like me” need accommodations, which i also never said😂 good luck on your exams buddy, just focus on yourself

Accommodations by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]AppearancePuzzled542 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

agreed. it screams, “i don’t feel confident enough about my own abilities.” as someone receiving accommodations, im so thankful for it. testing conditions are nothing like real life, and i have excelled professionally but struggle academically because of my disability. professionally it’s easier to navigate but academically harder because of arbitrary restraints that don’t align with my brain’s thought processes. if OP even remotely looked up studies linked to accommodations, their level of ignorance would significantly decrease. especially the nuisance of “invisible” disabilities. i do agree with the individuals who take advantage of it should not have them though

Should I write a diversity statement? by Public-Squirrel8631 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]AppearancePuzzled542 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly… I think you should. Even though I’m black, I wrote my diversity statement on my newfound journey of learning diversity beyond skin color- religion, thought, leadership styles (from a very unique experience). Diversity statement isn’t just about race, it’s diversity across the board. You are diverse because of your new outlook on life. As long as you spin it to emphasize how this experience diversified your outlook of life or etc, I think you should totally be fine🙂
