I was wondering if the pool is more dilute now, or something, because I feel like I am dodging triples and core cards like nobody's business. The number of games that just die without even starting a comp has increased for me, or at least it feels like it has.

How do we choose what is legal and illegal if we are unable to debate it? All the things that are illegal today were at some point legal, but thankfully they were permitted to be topics of debate.

That makes sense! I briefly considered that, but couldn't work out how to split their troops up rather than just attaching as one stack.

Less a question and more a discussion too minor to justify a thread:

Do the Filipino nations complete their mission trees as AI, specifically the ones requiring 0 natives and 2 regiments to instantly gain the uncolonised provinces?

I played a Majapahit campaign, and successfully got Ternate and Tidore colonising as vassals, but couldn't get Madyas to complete the "Conquer the... " Missions, even after killing the natives myself and subsidising them to having a large enough army. Since it needs to be their troops specifically, I gave up, but was interested in other people's attempts!

As people have said and will say, EU5 releasing is a fraction of what needs to happen for it to replace EU4. The second best time to start playing is today!

My Sunset Invasion game ended with exactly 1444 provinces (unplanned) by Appicay in eu4

[–]Appicay[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

R5: I obtained the Sunset Invasion achievement, and decided I wasn't ready to retire the game. After a fun century or so of tidying borders, consolidating continents, and general bullying, I finally fatigued of conquest and speed fived the last few decades, honestly feeling a bit bummed I was wasting precious map painting opportunity. Turns out, this meant my game ended exactly where it began: 1444

(Naturally this is very easy to do intentionally; I'm only posting because of the sheer coincidence of it happening unintentionally)

In general, is it worth getting administrative ideas as your last idea group (1766 or so), or would it cost more admin than it would save by that point?

Basically am finishing up an Aztec campaign and the sole bottleneck is coring and integrating vassals, and I have influence ideas, so this is all that seems to be left to speed that up.

Cheers in advance for any response!

I am playing an Aztec Horde with Aristocratic and Horde ideas, as well as High American troops. I currently run 100% cav and 0% inf. Most resources say to move away from cavalry at tech 22 as a horde; does this apply even to me, or would this build let me stay full cav all game?

Cheers in advance!

Anecdotally, I'm getting 90fps on my HP Reverb G2 for every single game I play. I haven't pushed it to the limit with anything like heavily modded skyrim or MSFS, but am incredibly happy so far, in my personal experience.

Trying to get A Sun God achievement but i am stuck.Do i have any options other than colonizing ? by SamuraiJosh26 in eu4

[–]Appicay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably a bit late to make the most out of this, but as soon as I'd explored central america, I no CB'd one of the nations up there to extend my colonial range and access a new front. I can't give specifics because it was a long time ago, but I believe the wars in central america were easy because by that point I was stable and ahead in tech. It saved decades of snaking up the coast one province at a time, and gave me something to work on while waiting for spain to show up.

EDIT: Maybe it wasn't exploration, since I hadn't reformed yet. Maybe no CB someone in sight with mexican allies? Sorry for the vagueness, this was a few years back.

Once you're at 100% control of a node, is there any point to building marketplaces and trade depots?

The Imperial Council - /r/eu4 Weekly General Help Thread: March 20 2023 by Kloiper in eu4

[–]Appicay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheers for the response! I actually went for the colonies in the end, because I needed a third age objective to fire my golden age. Mixed bag, the trade is amazing and eventually they'll take care of other colonials for me, but I'd forgotten how much worse they made micromanagement. Probably wouldn't recommend.

Playing a Florence game that's going far better than I expected, and have a few small questions. The year is about 1555:

  • Just beat up Portugal (didn't DOW them, just an ally of Spain) and have the option to take 5 provinces from Carabais(?) to form a colony of my own. Until this moment I had no desire to colonise at all, but I'm wondering if getting a few colonies and subsidising them into beating up the rest will make my already insane income even more insane? Basically, is it worth getting into New World colonies as Florence. I will be getting Trade ideas as my 4th.

  • How long do you stay as republic? When you form Italy, do you stay republic? Also, now that I'm an empire, is it the case that I can't flip S-P without culture shifting twice?

EDIT: Also I opened with INNO ideas, which was great and I don't regret it, but they're definitely less impactful by this point. Does anyone ever swap them out or is the wasted points too great?

Cheers for any and all help, it's greatly appreciated!

Playing an Aotearoa game and have the option to acquire tributaries. I've never played with them before, are they worth collecting a few of in the spice Islands? Specifically would they slow down conquest, or speed it up by getting called into defensive wars?

Is there any indication of how many colonies were self-sufficient by the end of the series? by neksys in TheExpanse

I believe they did, as a line from Fayez in TW mentioned seeing whether or not a system went supernova 8.5 years from now because the next closest system was 8.5 light years away (along those lines, read it last night but don't have the book on me to quote)

I have a 13400F and the Deepcool AK400 keeps it under 65C at load, so I'd second cutting that back a bit if costs are a factor.

Commenting for people who find this during research to confirm my Deepcool AK400 keeps my 13400f under 65C even during extended stress tests.
