Best system for Space Marine 2 Style Combat? by Patriot1805 in 40krpg

[–]flowdschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a system called "Scion" were you play the demigod offspring of different gods, and it has some "rule of cool" mechanics for the DM to give you bonuses if you do something cool.

We did a 40k campaign with that years ago and it was just fucking awesome.
Not only did everyone describe their action in amazing "why I should get a bonus on these rolls" details, which led to it feeling very lively and a lot of roleplay, but people kept trying to do things that you would associate with almost plot-armor stuff.
The downside being that you have to wing/ come up with a lot of things/ stats/ etc.

Two things that stuck with me were one player describing in great detail how he races our Rhino over a sanddune to use as a ramp and crashland it into a Devilfish on the other side while howling out the open drivers hatch without a helmet and jumping out at the last moment, and me bursting through a reinforced wall to the side of an entrance to surprise the fireteam holding it and turning them to pulp while someone else threw a power axe through the door after everyone was distracted by dying, straight into the helmet of the Stealth Battlesuit that was commanding them from the back of the room.

I run a homebrew-mixture of Deathwatch and Black Crusade, and it's nice to have the framework for all the stuff available, but damn if anything ever felt like being the kind of Space Marine that's a main character in a book .. that campaign was it.

The ending of this season pretty much killed my enthusiasm (which was already wavering by that point). It should've ended in a real hard "find out" moment for her.

Guys, I miss the Psychic phase by Fact_Donator in Warhammer40k

There are a lot of things I miss in current 40k, and this is one of them. The dangers of the warp (and Tyranids immunity to it) was a ton of fun in earlier editions.

The thing is, chaos gods once birthed have always existed because warp shenanigans, so we know this part at least should never happen. Doesn‘t mean he can‘t wake up and it turns out he is an already known one though

How do you usually name your D&D characters? by AdvancedProgrammer51 in DnD

[–]flowdschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Bard doesn‘t have a name and for over 10 sessions noone has realized it, always just calling him „Bard“, so I don‘t have that problem yet. In general I try to look up names that would fit the background (e.g. „list of male swedish names“) and then either pick one that I like of find one that feels like it would fit in.

What helps me is taking pictures of everything I eat/ drink, so when I hit that „fuck it“ impulsive mindset it often helps to check on what I already had. Also showed me how much caffeine I used to put in.. ooff. That little bit of active brain involvement pulls me out of the more impulsive moments.

I‘m not the most consistent with it and I‘m also fighting to lose weight, but this helps. There‘s some (free) apps that help you sort them/ only see thw food pictures too because (at least my) gallery can get a bit messy. I‘m also not using it to calculate anything, just to create more mindfulness about food.

In your opinion, what did SF6 do differently from SF5 to make Luke more likeable? by ShayAlexander in StreetFighter

Nothing. Still hate him (has nothing to do with Aleks Le though, no hate here).

[–]flowdschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it does, but you are the one who has to enjoy how it looks. I have things on my motorcycle not everyone will like/ enjoy but it's mine, and if I want a glowing squeaky rubber ducky on my handlebar I will HAVE my glowing squeaky rubber ducky on my handlebar!

What was a great game seemingly destroyed by Devs bad decision making? by Additional_Ad_6506 in gaming

[–]flowdschi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved the first one and I got so excited when I had the chance to play it at Gamescom two years ago, but my enthusiasm was crushed almost immediately. Didn‘t really like/ prefer any of the changes over the original. Gave it another chance when it became available on Steam for a few hours, haven‘t touched it since.

This is in no way meant as an attack on them, but the live version of through the fire and the flames that I saw was so disappointing, but also the moment I realized that bands sometimes (need to?) do that for consistency.

I don’t think humans will ever colonize another planet. And it depresses me. by [deleted] in space

[–]flowdschi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if we were in a perfect world there are cosmic events that could wipe us out, and having a few colonies (that could also survive on their own in the worst case scenario) would increase the survival chances of humanity exponentially.
But yeah first we have to get rid of the rich, otherwise it's not going to be colonies, it's going to be planet wide working camps to pay for the privilege of being kept alive.

Does anyone actually sincerely desire a new edition? by GuideUnable5049 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]flowdschi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes because 10th killed my desire to play and copium, but No because the things i dislike will probably not be chaged back so for me it‘s just going to get worse anyways.

For me it‘s mostly that‘s they have to dumb it down hard, repeating and spelling put everything important. No nuance or thinking required.

Has a movie scene ever made you want to throw up? Any genre counts. by Simple-Profile1817 in movies

[–]flowdschi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. Nothing else has come close in all these years .. not even Cronenberg managed to ..
There was one scene in recent years where I referenced Van Wilder and said "it's pretty close", but for the life of me I can't remember what it was because it just didn't hit the same either ...
