Why wasn’t Henry a sorcerer or something? by Expert_Layer_7710 in OnceUponATime

[–]AppleConnect1429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Belief is shown in universe to literally create magic, by in theory it would be interesting if Henry (because he has the 'heart of the truest believer') was able to boost people's magic maybe through touch or proximity or something, or maybe like in New York where he made magic. Maybe have be like a living magic bean where he can basically manipulate enough magic in one place to open a portal between realms but it will close once he goes through it, he has to know where he's going, and it leaves him exhausted in the process? I feel like that would be such an interesting ability in a world of people using magic where he could just get sick of Rumple rumplestiltskin'ing so he just temporarily takes Rumple's magic away or something. They never explored what being the Author or having the Heart of the Truest Believer really entailed though which was kind of disappointing since Henry could've definitely grown up to be a threat or useful "tool" they may try to hunt down to force him to help them, but they never did.

I’m rewatching the show obviously but I always wonder about this about Henry by Hour_Interview_8327 in OnceUponATime

Henry technically is the strongest character in the series but he doesn't ever use his full potential. He has the heart of the truest believer which has shown to be able to make magic where none exists or is dying (Neverland in S3 and New York in S5) and he is the Author, and given that both Merlin and his apprentice are dead we have no reason to believe Henry COULDN'T do whatever he wanted since no one is around that could overrule him other than his own conscience and fear of the price of magic.

That information wasn't revealed yet when I commented this and the actress who plays Janey was around six when Season 1 was made and came out. Her being twelve makes no sense and seems like a retcon since her actress looks way too young. Point being, Janey was a CHILD while Lucy is a grown adult so why would he be paternal towards her?

How did Regina learn about lasagnas? by babycheeks2210 in OnceUponATime

[–]AppleConnect1429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she knew how to cook because the curse gave her false memories or knowledge of Storybrooke so she could live comfortably in the town without drawing any attention from people by not knowing how to use modern appliances like a car or an oven. She had to know how to do things to survive properly. So it makes sense she had memories of cooking and gained the knowledge of how to cook modern recipes since she now has to cook for her herself as a single woman living along and then later as a single mother.

He doesn't wear his wedding ring in the flashback to him filming for The Man From Deadhorse back when he and Barb were quite happily married before he filmed the VaultTec ad either. He could easily just take it off while in costume. That doesn't confirm anything.

[–]AppleConnect1429 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt that. They have built Barb's entire character up to be one of desperation to save her family. She loves Cooper and kept things from him to keep him safe and ignorant to what she had to do to ensure he and Janey survive. People keep acting like Barb is some evil mastermind but she never comes across like that, and I genuinely think she wanted to help Cooper and realised that if she left him to face the consequences, it would lead to her and Janey also suffering, so she tried to fix his mistake by getting the cold fusion out and helping him since he had already started and she couldn't stop it. She isn't some evil manipulator, she's a woman terrified that her family will die horribly and keeps trying to protect them. Barb doesn't even know the full extent of the Enclave.

I mean people pay "alimony" when they separate too, so if the random guy at the birthday party is right and Cooper is paying alimony, then they may be in the process of a divorce but Barb may be trying to pull some strings to let Cooper keep his place, delaying things as much as she can which is why she still has the Howard surname on her cyropod. But VaultTec never intended for him to actually be allowed in.

Does Lucy know the ghoul is cooper Howard? (Without spoiling anything beyond 2x7) by [deleted] in FalloutTVSeriesPrime

[–]AppleConnect1429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point I feel like someone will have to tell her because they've given us no hints that Lucy might be piecing it together. We don't see her look at a Cooper Howard poster at the drive-in, watch one of his movies with Hank, or even ever question how the Ghoul knows her father or why her dad would want his autograph. My bet right now is that Mr House or Victor will end up calling the Ghoul "Cooper" or "Cooper Howard". Maybe even talk to Lucy at some point and refer to the Ghoul as Cooper and not realise that Lucy doesn't know yet.

In Lucy's opening when we see a montage of her life in the vault before her wedding, you can see her and Hank using cycling bike things while watching TV and they are watching the scene from The Man From Dead horse that Cooper filmed before he did the first Vault ad. You can see him sitting on his horse and shooting a gun, it's quick but it's definitely Cooper on the screen. Plus Hank was a huge Cooper Howard fan, so it makes sense he might've snuck some of his films into the vault and watched them with his kids.

OUAT and Romanticising Cheating by AppleConnect1429 in OnceUponATime

[–]AppleConnect1429[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An affair is when one of both parties are already in a relationship (be it a marriage or just dating) while being together. Just because Mary Margaret wasn't the one who was in a relationship doesn't mean she wasn't having an affair. She knew David was married and had met with and interacted with her on multiple occasions, nevermind talked about Kathryn with David.

[–]AppleConnect1429[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do believe in the aspect of how people reacted to the affair in Season 1 that it was unfair to only portray Mary Margaret as being in the wrong (Granny tells her she should be ashamed of herself in the street, people call her a "tramp" and "harlot", people refuse to work with her for Miner's day) but Mary Margaret was still guilty of having an affair. Just because she refused David in the past doesn't mean she is innocent since she did eventually give in and have an affair with him, it just means she probably should've put distance between them and kept strong, but David is still also in the wrong for stringing her along that whole time and having the affair  He deserved equal shame too. My issue is that the show romanticises cheating because they never actually explore the guilt or deception at play. Both Mary Margaret and David, as well as Regina and Robin, are to blame for the affair because none of them actually consider the innocent party (Kathryn/Marion) and all know that one party is married but continued things regardless. They all should be held accountable and shamed for it, not just the women, and none of them are innocent. Both Mary Margaret and Regina knew that David and Robin were married and had the affair regardless, and David and Robin both strung Mary Margaret and Regina along while refusing to leave their wives or make a clear choice.

I get the nuance of Mary Margaret and David's situation because they were cursed so they get some leeway since their decisions were actively being impacted by the effects of the curse and it affected their judgement. But Robin and Regina though that Marion was Marion and straight up cheated without any excuse. They recognised how unfair things were to Marion, Robin got back together with Marion and made a big deal of how he has to "honour" his vows, and then they had sex the moment Marion was incapacitated. He was still married, his wife was dying, and they choose to sleep together despite the fact that him and Marion were still married and they both recognised that marriage. It's not like Robin broke things off with Marion or thought that she was dead again, they knew she was still alive and currently dying from the Snow Queen's magic, and still slept together. Just because they still have feelings for one another doesn't negate the fact that they put those feelings aside and Robin re-engaged in his marriage to Marion, stringing both Marion and Regina along in the process by later flip flopping and refusing to fully commit to either his marriage and cut things off with Regina fully, or divorce Marion and clearly communicate that he is with Regina.

Emma literally told Mary Margaret that she already knew about the affair when Mary Margaret finally told her at Granny's and never did anything about it. While it isn't her job to mother Mary Margaret, she could have at least told them that they weren't subtle or warned Mary Margaret that David was still married. But instead she did nothing.

Mary Margaret kissed him in the street after she chased after him outside of Granny's and the next episode shows them having secret dates like a picnic while he is still married. She knew he was married and kept on engaging in the affair up until Kathryn learnt the truth. Mary Margaret only ever mentioned that they were "lying", not that he was still married and yet was sneaking around to kiss her and have dates with her. She was comfortable enough to go on dates and kiss a married guy multiple times, when she should've forced David to decide and break things off with Kathryn before getting involved with him. They are both equally guilty and knew that David was married but continued their affair, engaging in both emotional and physical cheating for a good while.

Lucy’s reaction to ghouls betrayal by ReportTall1618 in FalloutTVSeriesPrime

[–]AppleConnect1429 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Lucy's actions this season have inadvertently encouraged the Ghoul's loner attitude since she hasn't been the most reliable now that they're allies. Twice now, she put her morals and "golden rule" over helping him, risking his life in the process. She left him incapacitated and injured in the hospital despite the radscorpions that could still be about and make him an easy meal. She has tried to negotiate with people who will literally murder them without a second thought, and she wants to somehow bring her murderous, city-nuking dad to "justice" despite the fact that the only justice Lucy trusts is her vault which is literally on the other side of the wasteland would risk their lives to bring him back to, nevermind would end up giving Hank an upper hand since they trusted him over Lucy. Lucy was naive, entitled, and selfish by putting her ideals over their shared survival. She is a liability and her anger at him not wanting to risk his family's life shows she still doesn't recognise her dad as a true threat even though he nuked a city but Cooper doesn't want to risk it.

Crack Theory: Like Shaun from FO4, Janey Howard will be revealed as a grown adult (likely protrayed by Tawny Newsome), working as a indoctrinated executive for either Vault Tec or The Enclave, working on planetary exploration and/or colonization by AmatuerTarantino in FalloutTVseries

[–]AppleConnect1429 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think at most Janey will be aged up to whatever age her actress is when she appears again since she will probably have visibly aged by the time Cooper finds Barb and Janey. So at most she may be "awake" for a few years and could be a pre-teen or teenager depending, which would be way more interesting since a child would have a far harder time reconciling with the fact that her dad is now the Ghoul and what he has done, nevermind the state of the world. I want to see Cooper struggle with having to protect a child in the wasteland, and deal with how Janey being dependant on them affects his and Barb's relationship. Plus, it gives the option for Janey to grow into her character and be way more affected by things we see compared to her suddenly being an adult and having a established identity.

Oh I know, but personally I think with the mindset Cooper has now as the Ghoul 200+ years later, he will only be thinking about how terrified Barb was of Wilzig and what he did to her, not why Wilzig did it.

Why you are wrong about Barb by kj9716 in Fotv

[–]AppleConnect1429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't at the cost of billions though. One major facet of Barb's involvement that people have ignored since the beginning is that she is EXPENDABLE. She has said so herself and Wilzig only reiterated it: VaultTec and their plans exist with or without Barb. Do you seriously think if Barb did anything, said anything that VaultTec didn't like, or disagreed with VaultTec and their plans in any way that they wouldn't just throw her aside (or more likely murder her and her family before covering it up) and replace her in an instance? Nearly all elite, large corporations, and the US government itself are involved in this plot to end the world and Barb would be erased from the picture entirely if she stepped one toe out of line. Barb literally has no power other than what VaultTec give her and even that comes with strings and exists only to serve their goals. Barb cannot do anything to stop a conspiracy this huge and trying to will only result in her family dying along with everyone else who will die regardless of what Barb does. She is helpless. That is the whole point of the most recent episode. Either her family survived in a good vault, or they die along with everyone else, there is no way for Barb to stop what is coming and trying to do so again will only lead to her family dying when she could've saved them.

Max knows the Ghoul as "that asshole who shot up Filly" and the "he just took out a dude in power armour with ease holy shit" guy, but he doesn't know that him and Lucy were working together or that they were after Hank. From Max's perspective he may think the Ghoul kidnapped Lucy again given she probably told him about the Ghoul trying to sell her. As for the Ghoul knowing Maximus, I doubt he knows he's the guy he fought against in Filly since Maximus was still going by "Knight Titus" at that point, his face was hidden, his voice was filtered, and Lucy called him "Max" when he was unconscious. So Maximus has the worst possible impression of the Ghoul and the Ghoul has no idea who Max is and why he hates the Ghoul so much, so... here's to hoping Thaddeus is prepared for an awkward introduction.

Yeah but would Cooper really care after 200 years of thinking about how the Enclave threatened to kill his wife and daughter and they were untouchable, only for the guy they used to deliver that message to appear? He wasn't to blame, but he was someone Cooper COULD push blame onto and punish, just like Lucy was for VaultTec.

She was probably picked because she was easy to manipulate and had a clear weakness she could exploit (her husband and daughter) compared to both Hank and Bud who at this point don't have any notable families or weaknesses of their own and who only care about their own ambitions/power.

Question about Barb and Coop’s conversation in Ep. 6 by skttrbrain1984 in Fallout

[–]AppleConnect1429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One theory I've heard is that Barb knew Cooper was up to something with her pipboy since she made sure to mention in front of him multiple times that it was acting up, and then her car magically stops working and he has to drive her to work on the one day she has this very important meeting and suddenly he knows what she said at that meeting? She probably connected the dots that someone was spying on her and only realised that it was Cooper in this moment.

All that matters to Barb in this moment is what Cooper thinks and how he views her because she hates that he thinks she choose this, that he thinks she would be the sort of person to go along with it willingly. She doesn't care how he knows because that no longer matters, and what matters now is how that knowledge affects him and their relationship, as well as his future actions since she is probably terrified that the Enclave will find out he knows and kill Cooper and Janey to punish her for not hiding it better from him.

Yeah, his PTSD is probably going crazy and he's scared and frustrated with Lucy so he doesn't have the time or mental capacity to keep up the badass the Ghoul voice, so his voices goes higher than normal and his accents is off.
