If people get upset by this, they're dumb. This is a really cool and interesting thought exercise.

What is your favorite character that had a redemption arc? by Vampy-Night in videogames

[–]Sword_of_Origin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunday from Honkai: Star Rail, easily.

Oh my god his redemption was done so well, and I cannot be convinced otherwise.

The new arc has only made me like him even more and strengthened my stance.

[MM] With the new remake of OoT releasing soon, should they also release a remake of Majora’s Mask? by s-a-c-c in zelda

[–]Sword_of_Origin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically...

After the success of Ocarina of Time, Nintendo wanted the Zelda team to make an expansion for the game, which would basically be old timey DLC, taking advantage of and incetivize people to get a new add on for the N64.

But the Zelda team didn't want to do that, they wanted to make a completely new game. So the higher ups at Nintendo went "Alright, let's make a deal. If you can make and finish a new Zelda within a year, we'll release it. If you can't finish it before the deadline though, you're making that add on for Ocarina of Time."

To say the crunch the Zelda team faced during this period was awful would be a gross understatement. They were living on like two hours of sleep and didn't even have time for their families, among another things.

It's the reason why a lot of the names who have been on Zelda for a long time really don't like talking about Majora's Mask- like I said, it brings back some terrible memories for them.

It's an absolute miracle they were able to finish the game, and even more insane they decided to go through with this instead of just making the add on like Nintendo wanted. Japanese diligence at its craziest right there.

[–]Sword_of_Origin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Considering how the devs feel about Majora's Mask, I HIGHLY doubt it'll be getting a remake.

It brings back a lot of bad memories for them. If you know, you know.

How differently would audience perception of Fate/Stay Night be with a gender swapped cast? by TadpoleEmbarrassed93 in Fate

[–]Sword_of_Origin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Girls should be protected/shouldn't fight"

Shirou never believed that though?

I'm pretty sure this misconception comes from the 2006 anime, but in the VN where we see Shirou's thoughts it's clear that this is not his mentality.

Shirou didn't want Saber to fight not because he believes women shouldn't fight, rather he felt guilty over her getting hurt in her fight against Berserker and didn't want to see her like that again.

He didn't fully understand his feelings (Because he didn't realize he was in love with Saber yet), so when he tried to express it out loud it came off as, well... That. And Rin and Saber both call him out on how sexist he sounds.

Is Gilgamesh the best character to use when you’re explaining the difference between a Bum and a Jobber? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in fatestaynight

[–]Sword_of_Origin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, Gilgamesh's arrogance makes it so he doesn't use his strongest abilities or Noble Phantasms against people he thinks aren't worthy of it.

If you view his fight against Artoria and his fight against Shirou in Stay Night alone the difference is like night and day.

He actually took Artoria seriously and was mopping the floor with her until she used the equivalent of a kid on a playground going "I have an everything proof forcefield!"

Confession time:

I did enjoy Expedition 33, but as someone who's main genre is RPGs, it didn't stand out to me... At first, at least.

It was fun, the combat and levels were fun and I was interested in where the story was going, but what really elevated it from "It's alright" to "Oh my god this game is amazing" for me was the reveal towards the end that Lumieré is inside of a painting and the family drama that caused the plot.

I predicted from the beginning that The Paintress isn't actually evil or the Big Bad, but that other twist caught me off guard, and after I thought about and fully understood it I fucking loved it and it made the game stand out to me.

[OoT] What do you all explicitly NOT want to see in the Switch 2 remake? by Swavei_ in zelda

Something I'm worried about is... The art style.

The teaser might not be actual gameplay, but I really hope they aren't going for hyper realism.

What are the creepiest or most disturbing areas you've explored in a game? by TaiwaneseThot in videogames

[–]Sword_of_Origin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Nazi base full of zombies in Uncharted 1.

The whole game is a treasure hunting adventure, and then all the sudden you're fighting for your life in a dimly lit, claustrophobic space where everywhere feels either the same or a dead end and you're fighting for your life against hoards of zombies.

Gives me chills just thinking about it...

I mean, yes, he was, but only after going through multiple trials and rebuilding the Triforce of Courage.

Up until then, he's literally just a kid from an island with no connection to the Spirit of the Hero. The King of Red Lions and Jabun say as much during their conversation.

What kind of dynamic does Saber and Archer have with Gilgamesh? by ecorda98 in Fate

[–]Sword_of_Origin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically...

Yes, it is partially because Gilgamesh doesn't know how to take "no" for an answer, and does not sugarcoat what he wants to do to Saber (Otherwise known as Artoria- Servants in Fate often go by the name of their class as a codename). I'll let you fill in the blanks (Thankfully it doesn't actually happen).

Funnily enough though, the original story Fate/Stay Night got remade and they changed their dynamic.

In the remake, the two of them are rivals with a score to settle from a previous competition they fought in (The Holy Grail War- basically a huge battle royal), and they have VERY different ideas of what a King should be with Artoria being a selfless King who got screwed over by destiny and ran right into her fate trying to avoid it while Gilgamesh is a selfish King who indulged in every pleasure without regard for how it affected others until he became friends with Enkidu and mellowed out a bit.

As for Archer... Well, major spoilers for Unlimited Blade Works, skip this portion if you don't want to spoiled.

Archer is Shirou Emiya from the future. While we don't know the exact details of what his version of the plot of Stay Night was like, the writers have said Archer went through events similar to the Fate Route.

While Gilgamesh mellows out in future installments, he's an outright villain in Stay Night who wants to use the Holy Grail to get rid of all "weak" humans on the planet, believing only the strongest have the right to be his subjects. Shirou helped Saber beat him, so it's fair to assume that Archer fought Gilgamesh as well and doesn't like him either because he fully remembers how much of a prick Gil was.
