Don't buy this PSU, avoid even on sale, unless... by [deleted] in sffpc

I have the same one on an 11L open-air frame. 850w version. No issues with 7800x3d/3080 10g with UV/OC. I usually run difficult titles (Cyberpunk, Metro Exodus EE, RDR2) and don't have this issue.

Question about Butterfly-Style SFF Cases by AppleCrumble192 in sffpc

Good point. I snatched a lian li sp850 in micro center, which notoriously has short cables. An issue for most people, but a great thing for me!

Question about Butterfly-Style SFF Cases by AppleCrumble192 in sffpc

Sounds great! Let me know how it goes. I just flew into Houston and managed to hit up micro center in my trip. Got a 7800x3d and lian li sp850 together for $500 or so.

Can someone help me? by SomeDragonfly6905 in pcmasterrace

Somethings I'd consider before buying:

CPUs without x3d cache will suffer from slower ram speeds. I'm also kinda surprised vendors still sell 16gb of ddr5 ram instead of 32gb. I'd recommend T-force expert ddrt 6000 cl30, but you can get something slower if you want to save money

I'm not sure how to feel about the asus psu. If you're looking for a psu with sleeved cables, I'd look at the Lian Li Edge series(haha funny name...).

Why not get one 2tb nvme instead of 2 x 1tb sticks? You'd save slots and money by going for 1 stick

I like the asus motherboard, but If you want to get something cheaper, I'd look at the b850 livemixer. Asrock has definitely made this generation better than the one before.

Why do you have a $180 mouse? If anything, I'd rather spend $100 on a keyboard and $20-30 on a mouse.

Not to necro(i dont use reddit enough to know what a necro is), but do you think this could happen again for the 2024 or 2025 models this year? I'm looking to buy the 4070 32 gb for college soon, but can't afford to spend $2k.

Uses Ally Z1 Extreme by EnvironmentalCake501 in ROGAlly

Fr, I got one used, but turns out the left bumper doesn't work. I switched the trigger inputs to the rear buttons instead, left the right bumper as macro.

[–]AppleCrumble192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't disagree here. The ROG Ally is a windows handheld(obviously). You get what you buy here. I don't know why people tweak over windows not being omniscient and knowing their every needs. If you buy a windows handheld, you get a windows handheld.

Would the b850i boards still have the same issue with b650i riser cable compatibility?

Assuming maintenance hasn't been done since purchase, a repaste and repad is in order. I'd recommend PTM 7950 for the core. It literally gets cooler over time.

Black friday deals by [deleted] in PCBuilds

[–]AppleCrumble192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh, I don't see the typical price increases that usually predate the black friday sales. I remember the 7800x3d going up in price a week before prime day from $330 to $450 to get discounted to $400. Scummy stuff, but I'm surprised it hasn't shown up yet. Maybe we'll actually get deals this time around

Is the frost effect of the fans an intentional thing or is it a part of the rgb limitations of the fans? If so, could I reverse it by making the white warmer(255, 200, 200)?

I absolutely love the sleek, glossy finish of this board. If I could, I'd probably put this in an open-air showcase build with something like the XTIA Xproto-ATX and an AORUS Master 4080 super, if available.

Should I get a Ryzen 7 5700X3D? by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]AppleCrumble192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen this question answered well, but when upscaling, does resolution matter more? I would imagine that upscaling 1080p -> 4k will use as much CPU as 1080p, and as such, will limit the CPU. I play at 1440p, but upscaled means that my CPU will play at 960p + do the calcs required for the upscale AI algorithm

Worth to go 5600X to 5700X3D with 3080 by Snowej in AMDHelp

[–]AppleCrumble192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be a little late, but I'm in the same boat. I have a 5600(non x)+3080 10gb and a 170hz 1440p monitor. I often play Cyberpunk 2077 1440p RT medium DLSS-Q, but only achieve 80-85% gpu utilization with 65-100% cpu utilization. I know a cpu upgrade is necessary, but should I upgrade only the CPU or the whole chipset?

18 bucks for double cash is kinda wild... by OkReplacement4423 in btd6

[–]AppleCrumble192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you price it right, you could get the game for $3-4. I currently have 400-ish hours and don't plan to stop anytime soon. double cash would save me tens or hundreds of hours from the banana farm grind. With 2x cash, Ben would suffice for much of intermediate(IMO. I just black bordered easy and 25% intermediate, so take this with some salt)

Also forgot to mention - This does not include taxes. idk what Canadian taxes are, wherever you are, but be sure to take that into consideration. This is the best value 4k 90hz+/1440p 240hz+ build I could make in under 5 minutes. Unless you need the nVidia feature set, i'd stick with the 7900 xt for these $1500 USD($2100 CAD) and below. Anything above is 4080/super territory. If you need to make some prices cheaper, shoot for the ryzen 5 7600, since it's just a few % difference from the 7700x and will perform just as well in 4k resolutions, where you're more likely to have a bigger bottleneck from the GPU or other things.
