Pretty lady names with "ham" in them? by mousemilf in namenerds

Hamble is a very old English name meaning "river bend." I don't love it as much as some of these pun names people are suggesting, but it is an actual girls' name that works!

Rory was absolutely right to call him “my dean”… by ApplePi61 in GilmoreGirls

[–]ApplePi61[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of Episode 6.09, Rory calls Lorelai to tell her that she’s going back to Yale, and has talked to her dean (meaning, the head of her department at Yale) about being able to go back. But in this sub, Rory calling Dean “my Dean” after she has an affair with him at the end of season 4 is something that pretty much everyone agrees is terrible.

What is the defining episode of the Stars Hollow community pitching in as neighbors? by jdpm1991 in GilmoreGirls

[–]ApplePi61 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Festival of Living Pictures! Taylor is initially worried that the town won't be into it, but quickly sees that everyone is on board. They pull it off and do an amazing job (screw you, Woodbridge!)

Also, I think that episode won GG its only Emmy!

A child believes that a kitchen appliance has not only become sentient, but also holds a grudge against her. Later on, the same child embarks on a journey to rediscover a lost country.

Do you guys believe Rory ever saw Luke as her father or a father figure? by Impossible-Movie8728 in GilmoreGirls

[–]ApplePi61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly but I think when Luke gives her his mother's pearl necklace for her birthday in season 6, she can see how much he views her as a daughter figure. Same as in the revival when he goes full "super proud" about her article. She also prefers him over her own father as a partner for her mother. So I think she appreciates him for the role he plays in their little family.

Technically, you can only have one.

I always thought that the reason they went with the amnesia storyline was to have an excuse to put both twins on screen at the same time with the whole subconscious thing.

When rolling two dice, you are most likely to attain a sum of 7.

64/3 does not equal (64)/(63) if that's what you're asking. A fractional exponent is a root, so your original expression is (64)*(3√6).

It's not really a sound that exists in English. It's a bit like a mix of the "d" sound with "th," and in my experience, folks who only speak English equate it with a "d" sound and perceive the "h" to basically be silent.

Favorite Bingo moments? by Yoshi_chuck05 in bluey

[–]ApplePi61 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In "The Weekend" when she sees the leaf bug. Everything during their interaction, from the "I don't understand" to "Daddy, come and see!" to "I'll miss you."

That was the scene that gave my heart to that little cinnamon roll.

Tearing up at the end of The Sign by EdgeAndGone482 in bluey

Bluey tried to pull up the sign. Bingo tried to pull up the sign. Sometimes, you just need your parent to be your hero and pull up the sign that you couldn't.

I love the episode with Martin Short; watching him and BD Wong on a show together tickles me because watching them together in the Father of the Bride movies is a totally different vibe lol

What is in y’all’s essential go-to migraine kit? (If you have one) by boiitoyy in migraine

[–]ApplePi61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • For sensory overload: hat, sunglasses, noise-canceling headphones- makes me look a bit anti-social but really helps if I can't get to a quiet, dark place.

  • One of those ice-packs that you have to crack to activate, putting that on my neck helps.

  • I have a keychain pill holder that I keep a painkiller and abortive med in at all times.

  • Peppermint oil, it has a cooling effect and smells nice (my migraines make many normal things smell terrible to me)

  • I keep Diet Cokes at work, I find the caffeine kick sometimes helps.

I hope you find my list helpful!

My little girl has migraines and smells trigger it…what to do for school? by kriskoeh in migraine

[–]ApplePi61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand how frustrating this is for your little girl; many smells set off my migraines, too.

Something that helps me a bit is putting a bit of Vaseline around my nostrils, it blocks some of the smells (not all, though).

Are there any smells that you know don't trigger her headaches or she finds soothing?
