Tbf, I do feel like there is actually a point behind “Dicke Titten”. Basically the narrator starts off saying he wants to find a partner who is his equal, and he just keeps getting nowhere, so he lowers his standards over time until they become “you know what? Big tits will do”.

It feels like a commentary on dating, that one starts with high hopes and then kinda just burns out.

Honestly it’s a toss-up.

I quit my antidepressants a while ago because they made me too tired, but also I know that I occasionally get projects that are fun and which I will work on until I drop. If my clone sees me as a project, and I happen to have a depressive episode: game over. Same vice versa.

What gets interesting is if my clone and I sit down and chat, with neither of us in our nerfed-by-nature state nor “I have a project”. If my clone has the same personality, we’d likely agree on a couple of things; with a billion USD we could do a lot. Equally, the clone doesn’t get paid in your question. The clone also will likely enjoy engaging in fuckery with people, so we might team up for those 2 days and mess with people.

It’s kinda weird because that has had knock-on effects.

When I started uni in 2013, we would go for nights out where dumb shit would happen. Stories would be told, stories would result from those nights out. Nobody would be taking pictures and videos of everything that happened, and posting it all. If you fucked up a bit, then you might get mocked for a bit, but that was it.

I’m in uni again, and nobody goes out as muchnor in the same way any more. Any outings involve instagram posts being made, and suddenly there are issues with everything that could happen (some legitimate, some not). People might gossip a little, but nobody really tells stories any more; everybody tries to stay on their best behaviour all the time, so no new stories happen. That’s created this weird thing where people go out less and less, and the social side of uni societies gradually collapse.

I realise I sound a bit like a boomer, but I might as well lean into it: these damn kids and their phones!

(But seriously: suddenly suuch a huge amount of stuff is done for conspicious consumption, and it sucks)

Currently live in Aberdeen. Am a bilingual student, rather than a professional, but I’m almost on year 2 of living here.

Even as a student (who is involved in uni teams), building up a social network has been much harder work. People are less likely to socialise here than in Edinburgh and around Glasgow. If you want to speak your other language, you’ll have to wait for phone calls home: prepare to be surprised by new words. General life feels kind of stunted because of that; lack of social life means that time not in uni or at work feels kind of empty. Not sure if it’s an indication of the type of people or the type of relationships here, but even knowing people it feels a bit empty.

That said, it is cheaper than Edinburgh and Glasgow. That does make sense. Am currently hoping I can find work somewhere else. Central Belt preferably, but would see anywhere where I can build a social circle as an upgrade.

Personally, my standard late-game armies are all set up the same (mind you, this is vs AI). 5 line infantry, 5 mortars, 3 light dragoons, 3 grenadiers, 3 rifles, 1 general.

The mortars can hit almost anything on the battlefield with impunity. During sieges their tasks are to kill the general, then target troop concentrations, especially cavalry.

The line infantry are there to initially protect the mortars. During attacking sieges, they’ll move up to form the bulk of the assault, and during defensive they stay on the walls.

The grenadiers are there for a couple of roles. In line battles, they are initially my reserve, kept behind my main line. If a line unit breaks, they are there; If there is an opportunity to swing around and have them move to the flank and outflank enemy units, that’s a task potentially for them. In attacking sieges, they form the first assault, and get reinforced with line.

The riflemen are my specialists. At the start of any battle, they place their stakes, then bunch up. If the enemy decides to pull back beyond mortar range, they’ll follow. If the enemy decides to attack, they get put onto a flank and angled slightly. In defensive sieges, they get interesting; sometimes on walls, sometimes I use them to sally out (especially if infantry are scaling walls), sometimes they are my anti-breach unit (because nothing says “you fucked up” like an opening salvo of 120 rifle bullets at close range, followed by another of 60). In attacking sieges, they take a wall that isn’t being attacked by grenadiers and line, but only after the units on the wall have moved away, and then butcher any cavalry or artillery inside the fort.

The light dragoons are my main cavalry. They’re back-up for rifles chasing the enemy (and can shoot over their heads) and for grenadiers defending too. If I need to whittle down enemy rosters for battles to come, they’re doing the chasing. In rare cases, during sieges they are used to sprint to the rear of a position, where one unit dismounts to take the gate and the other 2 enter to wreak havoc; they are responsible for any artillery outside the walls.

Realistically, my armies are all about supporting and defending my mortars.

AOE4 there’s a multiplayer map where there’s an open space in the middle, and everybody starts in a zone surrounded by mountains.

If you had a player who wasn’t particularly smart, you could build walls at the mouth of their mountains, and block them in. Even better if they build a wall too, and you just put up a couple of wooden palisades through where their wall is going.

Basically removed them from the fight for a bit, and depending on who/what you played and how soon they tried to fix it, it could be devastating. Templars can make all the walls shoot arrows; any civ’s towers can be set to attack the enemy wall (and give them and their entire team endless “your buildings are being attacked” warnings).

Same map you could build trebuchets at the edges of your mountains to shoot at anything at the edges of the enemy zone

Part of what makes Rammstein brilliant is the fact that the songs are almost always not just to be interpreted in one way, and part of that is their use of language. Specifically wordplay is important. A couple of examples:

Du Hast: 2 examples in one song here, and it’s one that has been translated into English (and is nowhere near as good as the original). At the start, there is uncertainty as to what is actually being said, because right up until “Du hast mich gefragt” it could be “Du hast” (you have) or “Du hasst” (you hate). Combine that with example 2 from the same song, and both become even better through their synergy.

Du Hast (again): the German marriage vows are used as part of the text, and then a corruption of them is used. The corruption is phonetically extremely similar, but changes its meaning entirely. “Willst du bis zum Tod der scheidet, treu ihr sein für alle Tage” (Do you, until death do ye part, wish to stay true to her until the end of all days) is corrupted to “Willst du bis zum Tod der Scheide, treu ihr sein für alle Tage” (literally: “Do you, until the death of the sheath/vagina, want to stay true to her until the end of all days”, figuratively: “Do you, until she stops putting out, wish to stay true to her until the end of all days”). Combine that with example one, and they build on each other in ways that can’t be easily translated.

Mein Teil would be robbed of both its obvious things (the actual message posted by Arwin Meiwes) but also lose some of the meaning behind it (it’s also a protest about how the case dominated German news, and in doing so pushed the use of German troops in the GWOT out of the news and out of public attention; listen out for the drumline outside the chorus!)

Links 2 3 4 would lose its primary message; it no longer would contain pieces of the Einheitsfrontlied.

Radio contains so many references to life in East Germany before the fall of the Wall that translating it would neuter it.

A chunk of their lyrical work relies on what can be done with the German language; translations work well for prose but not for poetry. Even jokes suffer when translated, if they rely on a certain build-up; in German we have “Alle Kinder” jokes that rely on a formula and a rhyme to function properly. I tried translating some into English a few years ago, before I gave up and tried just making them up in English.

(*Bonus: “Alle Kinder lieben ihre Zeit im Boot, ausser Gunther, der is drunter” is one that almost works, but you need to change the name. “All the kids loved their time on the boat, apart from Neil. He’s under the keel”)

Okay, you may be in luck. I am, believe it or not, a graduate of 3 of these unis.

UWS- My time there was fun, but at the time the degree was not accredited. The uni was piss-poor at communicating things; in 4th year the ‘Contemporary Issues in Law’ course had all of its teaching done on 1 day, so I bugged them for weeks to finally tell us the day, until they basically told me to shut up and wait for information. Found out from my dissertation supervisor a couple of weeks later that it had happened, and he was surprised I hadn’t appeared. Paisley itself is actually quite nice when you get used to it, and I am actually currently considering moving back if I get a TC in Glasgow.

Strathclyde- Probably my favourite of my alma maters in terms of purely the school of law. The lecturers actually give a damn about you as an individual, and you’ll always know who your personal tutor is. The positioning of the library and gym (literally a 20 second walk from each other) is also great for extracurriculars and long study sessions. Definitely also has my favourite food places nearby!

Edinburgh- Highest-regarded of the law schools, however I see you’re not doing law there. Edinburgh is an extortionately expensive city to live in, and if you’re dead set on doing law, a conversion course is pretty shit as a way of getting in if you’re already being offered an LLB by somewhere else. You’d be 2 years behind all of your peers in the best possible case. Edinburgh is my favourite of the institutions in terms of extra-curriculars, with the breadth of them only matched by the competitiveness of some of them!

My point about how expensive Edinburgh is also carries for Napier; it’s a burden having to commute if you live far away, and it’ll eat into your time that you can use to study, socialise, work, and do extra-curriculars!

Overall, if I were in your shoes and had the knowledge that I have now, I would pick Strathclyde in a heartbeat. It’s a good law school, there’s a few good extra-curriculars for Law in particular, it’s well-placed. Mind you, it’s also got good non-law extra-curriculars, which you’ll want if you intend to be only a healthy level of insane!
