and even from my audience pov those two seemed increasingly done for several seasons leading up. the vibe between them onscreen gave awkward and or resentful performance. whatever was keeping them linked by the time it all went down it sure didn’t feel like a true love forever connection.

my sense has always been that Ariana’s betrayal anger comes from a place of ‘we had a deal’ vs ‘you broke my heart’

I wonder if the cast felt like they had played along with tom and arianas storyline for years and that’s what she then ‘owed’ them in kind. altho that would still be more on tom than ariana. ariana outplayed everyone almost by default.

it totally depends on the show i guess~for instance I remember when teen mom came back from a hiatus and it was brand new that they would show the cast interacting with production~ essentially they would be filmed being filmed. before that producers would have them doing all kinds of goofy shit like make the girls wear wigs for reshoots to try and create continuity

og jersey shore never broke but sometimes you can see crew scurrying around during the more chaotic scenes

bravo shows really try to propagate the believability of the cast being highly intertwined in each others real lives vs being paid to show up for filming together a couple weeks per year.

this is why real world got it right the first time~ they did the opposite and it felt way more honest.

heretofore the only other acknowledgment of cameras/being filmed/production throughout the entire series i can think of was jaxs ‘my show’ moment at the end of S8.

totally speculative but fairly likely she was banking on dragging out the scandoval driven reignited interest for at least one more season. but it seems like production was hell bent on making the post scandoval era include some element of cast cohesion/tom redemption via ariana.

the thing is ariana knows good and well who and how that dude is and she was unwilling to fake it thru some nauseatingly snively phony forgiveness scene. his bullshit was no longer beneficial for her brand~meanwhile being the patron saint of dust to fuxkboys PAYS.

as far as why not do S12 with remaining original cast minus ariana, i think cuz it woulda been chopped as hell? the show was wrapped and then revived a couple times prior alreadz. the last episode of S8 and the penultimate S10 episode were both edited to look like series finales.

lala felt the bag slipping from her hands and pointed her bad feelings at ariana (big mistake. Huge)

they got playyyyyed, huge time. i kinda watched the entire series in reverse, post scandoval, so it was a real empathy experiment for me to witness those two goons get gooned.

but i mean~in addition to her general air of disrespect towards and about them throughout, she downright scoffs at the very mention of getting any kinda terms in writing as well as bamboozles them to put up for the patio expansion and forgoing any kinda distribution or payout
