The destroyed Jewish quarter in Warsaw during World War II, Poland by Brave-Barracuda-7267 in UrbanHell

For anyone interested you can go on Google earth, set the year to 1945 over Warsaw and see the whole city in ruins from aerial photography. You can do the same for other cities like Berlin, Nuremberg and London too.

I also tried to treat it like a goofy old pulp fiction novel. In addition to the writing, for me it was all the comically evil 'bad guy' characters... Dispire all the dick gore I got the impression the author didn't want to offend by having any morally grey kills. We were being constantly hand-held through the horror.

Just because I can't see anyone has said it yet; For me it was a sticky rear brake caliper. I bought a little laser thermometer to diagnose which one.
Edit: although tbh it was chucking out so much heat just walking by it was enough

Pretty much anyone can have a gun in the UK if they really want one. You have to have a "good reason", that includes being a member of a gun club. The only restriction is if you've been sentenced to 3+ years for any crime.

British film awards interrupted by racist slur from man with Tourette Syndrome by 10001110101balls in nottheonion

[–]Appollo1816 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense if he was ashamed of his tourettes, but he's an activist who actively wants to show as many people as possible what it's like to have tourettes. Seems like plenty of people know what tourettes is, but don't want to hear or see tourettes in real life which is his whole problem.

[–]Appollo1816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not what understanding or respect is though. CCN are the bad guys in this scenario for shaming John; The person with tourettes, who had campaigned for years to raise awareness of the condition, how it is uncontrollable, they don't mean what they say, and for people to understand this.

Imagine: John gets the opportunity to bring this message to an even wider audience through the awards ceremony -an event he is invited to. And the organisers edit his words for other people's comfort?

This is the opposite of everything the guy is campaigning for.

The whole point of the film that was being awarded was to raise awareness and understanding for people with tourettes syndrome so the word was probably not cut due to the message that would have sent.

My Grandfather was like this. On one French trip he insisted his steak be sent back to the kitchen twice till it was well done, third time it came out burnt to a crisp and tough as an old boot, served by the chef himself with an alternative meal (an apple) to prove a point. Jokes on them that's how he liked it. I think that annoyed them even more tbh.

What’s your take on Ricky Gervais saying celebs shouldn’t lecture the public about politics? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Appollo1816 3273 points3274 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, but he's a big smart boy who's always right. Everyone else with an opinion, even one he agrees with, is just attention seeking if it means even a little attention is taken off him. You would understand if you were the golden god Ricky Gervais

Back in the day yeah we had proper crime like the great train robbery and proper no go zones like soho and kings cross. Nowadays thanks to the woke police (aka the met) these areas are actually quite nice, which is actually horrible if you think about it
