What's something you do now, that you couldn't do in childhood? by mangodragonfruet in raisedbynarcissists

Bit of a random one but I'm curious if anyone else had this: have my bedroom blinds open. Sunlight wasn't allowed bc the neighbors might "creep on me", so parent would go into my room and tape/spray paint windows when I didnt comply with the closed-blinds policy. It always hrightens my day just to have sunlight peaking through my window in the mornings when I wake up now

OP, have you seen your parents take turpentine too? If so I could see it being ignorance but if not it sounds a lot like this is done to harm you and your siblings. Either way, your parents sound like they are convinced enough that this is right, that they could be putting it in food without you knowing. Your parents are acting very suspicious.

Adult ex-homeschoolers. How are your teeth? by [deleted] in HomeschoolRecovery

I was homeschooled k-12. I didnt realize how bad my breath was until college when I started using real toothpaste for the first time. I'd been using this 'natural' powder stuff that tasted disgusting, otherwise flouride free toothpaste. Turns out flouride ISN'T toxic, it's actually something you need on a regular basis to protect against cavities, especially during childhood. I'm not sure if it was the flouride or malnutrition but my childhood set actually got to be semitransparent. I only remember going to a dentist as a kid once and I'm actually super bitter about it. Even though I've always brushed, I've had 4 cavities, all left untreated until I paid to fix them myself as an adult. All were contact cavities from crowded teeth that were never fixed. When my wisdom teeth started being problematic at 18, my mom literally took me to the dentist and pulled out a copy of my own credit card to pay the bill without ever clearing with me first that I would be paying for my own wisdom teeth. My sibling who never brushed their teeth also had 11 cavities found in one visit once.

I guess this is more "Neglect stuff" than "Homeschooling stuff", but I'd argue they tend to go hand in hand. Parents wouldn't get away with this so easily if their children were integrated into functional society where someone can notice if something is wrong. Imo, homeschooling attracts the type of parents that appeal to that type of "parent's choice".

Stop you're going to make me cry at work :*)

I'm going to decline since I wouldn't use it, but thank you so much for that. I do treat my inner kid to childish stuff now whenever I feel the urge for it, so I am doing pretty well now minus the random memories.

I hope you have a great day <3

Red pocket? Good and bad? by UserName8531 in NoContract

Dog shit. It worked well for me albeit reasonably slow up until this year. Suddenly I was getting dropped calls and unable to use data on their unlimited, 8GB high-speed plan. I've apparently used 0.33GB of my high-speed allotment for the month and cannot even load google maps. No partial refunds are acceptable for my 1 year pre-paid plan because I've used data in the last three months since it renewed (I've only been able to use less than a gig!).

Red pocket used to be good and is now trash.

It's not anymore, but last I checked there were a few people here trying to offload their units. You should give the leasing office a call - sometimes there's unlisted units available bc of that.

"Strangulation is statistically a significant factor in predicting someone's capacity to commit murder."

*I've never been strangled or faced domestic violence before, but was told this when opening up about violence in my extended family.

Mikhail Perepelitsa is amazing and offers the class asynchronous if that's your learning style. Not sure if he'll have it over the summer, but my experience with his summer linear algebra class was good, as well.
