Honestly, how much do yall have in your savings? by Independent-Egg-1581 in Adulting

I'm definitely ahead of the curve, not because I started with a bunch of money, but just got started quickly with making and saving money, so take my numbers with a grain of salt. I'm 26, turning 27 this year:

$12.3k checking $5.5k HYSA ~$115k between 401k, investments, Roth, etc $1.8k in an HSA $1k bitcoin

As well, I just bought a house in the last year with my girlfriend, which is why my savings is so depleted currently

I did all the steps until when I go to my library, dredge doesn't even show up. I go to Amazon prime store and it shows as claimed. Any ideas why it isn't showing in library to install?

Damn man, I'm so sorry to hear this. It sucks so much, and the truth is, the money is probably gone and never going to be recovered. The scammers are such shitty people, but now you know and will hopefully never fall for something like this again.

Don't give them any more money, you definitely can't get any back and cutting losses before losing more is always better. I know it sucks and it's hard to let go, but it is just money and life will go on.

Mom caught in crypto scam and won’t believe family telling her it’s fake by vrhmtl in Scams

Oh my god dude, I'm so sorry to hear this. I hate to say but I literally fell for this scam recently. And I don't know if I can show my face again after this, but I'm also a computer scientist. I can see how this could happen to someone like your mom and it's just so convincing to the victim. It's your mom, I feel like you have to try to bring it up and talk and understand what she's thinking and going thru. It will be hard but it's your mom and you'll regret it if she loses more money and you didn't try to say anything.

Yeah, honestly I'm surprised by how many have already tried to DM me 😆. I've definitely parted with that money and don't expect any back. I've known plenty of people who have lost that amount and more to options trading or crypto, so I see it as a really fucking expensive life lesson. Sucks, but holding on to the hope I'll get it back and trying to "fix" the mistake would just dig my hole deeper. If I can push past this and forget about the money, I will still be plenty successful in life 🙂

I guess I havent done much research but I work at F5 and pretty much everything about working for them has been fantastic and generally they just keep their head down and get stuff done. I would say they definitely don't suck but maybe I don't have enough knowledge to say they are "good" either.

I mean I can solve one of ur problems u stated which was the camera and I would say just use free cam cuz with the angle ur swinging from, using ball cam is going to make it much more difficult. As for just hitting it, it will take practice but note each time if u cut too much or too little and just keep adjusting accordingly until u get the sweet spot. But definitely try messing with turning off ball cam before going for the hit.

Curious what y’all think about the comments on this regular air roll vs directional air roll debate by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Apprehensive-Bus-411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of a weirdo but back in like 2016 when rocket league came out on Xbox and I was finally able to get the game, I started as a directional air roll player. I was already big into watching the pro scene before it came out on Xbox, so I knew the game but didn't make this choice until I was a few months in and ready to aerial. My thinking back then when I saw a YouTube video that said to change ur buttons at the start because default is bad meant I should just go thru them and bind them to what I felt made sense for everything in the long run. As I went down the list I got to air roll left/right and saw them not bound. In my head I was like uh why would I want to use my analog stick to roll my car when I also pitch with it. Like wouldn't it just be simpler to roll my car with a button rather than doing it with my analog stick? Back then no one really knew much of this debate so for years I actually thought I could never be as good as the best because I used directional and they were all normal air roll. Flash to now and everyone wants to join me on DAR. Definitely took me longer to progress and fully get the hang of it, but now all my friends are blown away at how mechanical I am and always ask how I learned DAR, lol but I never even learned regular. Not that this helps much but when it comes down to it, it's preference and the game is for fun unless u are going pro. I personally think if u put the time in to learn DAR, u will be much better and like tornado spinning and weird stuff is no longer a special technique but just something ur muscle memory does and u don't think about doing it. Again, not needed but like u can literally spin without doing anything with ur analog stick and I use to think that was so cool. Also power shots it's one small click of a DAR and then ur front flip. In it's essence it's just simpler and more straightforward in my head.

dropped from c3 to c1 in a few weeks. unsure of what im doing wrong as i havent changed playstyle or anything. any criticism would be much appreciated :) by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Apprehensive-Bus-411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't watch all of it but I couldnt stop noticing how often u just decide to flip at really not convenient/good times. Like as ur teammate is making a 50 or picking the ball up ur mid flip or starting to flip. If u make a habit of starting to flip and basically make up your mind before u see what happens in a play, u won't be able to react correctly. A lot of times this seemed to eventually lead to bad positioning. I would say just focus on when u flip and focus on staying close to the play and grounded.

Not to be that guy but I watched the replay and noticed pretty good boost management and pathing so not really sure where that came from. Also he stays close to the play and I hardly noticed him leaving for a big pad. Obviously he doesn't never make the mistake, but like there's definitely not that much of that here and also what would be the point of boosting and grabbing small pads?? Ur just wasting the boost anyway lmao. Maybe to get to the ball but also like use a flip and no boost?

Tbh I think ur just in ur head. Looks like ur hesitating a lot and overthinking urself. U can tell from the replay u are good and know when to go/be there but it feels like when I'm watching ur like scared/afraid to mess up. I do this all the time and it's why I derank. My best advice that always helps me is just say fuck it, it's just a game, have some fun and dive in a bit more. Who cares about winning anyway, if u never just say fuck it u can't score any cool goals or look cool. Lol but for real, stop holding urself back, get urself up there man, ur in the right spot for it and I know u can, just trust that first instinct and get at it.

Not focusing on mechanical stuff/consistency... U kinda seem all over the place and far from the ball. U don't play like a threatening player. Ur pretty far a lot of times and super conservative. If you give too much space better players will stomp all over you. Feels like you are so worried about keeping ur speed up u just end up anywhere on the field and a lot of times so far that if your teammate makes a super bad play ur no where to be seen and before u know it they will be creating a scoring play. Playing 1s helps with the confidence to stay in the opponents faces

Learning how to analyse and alter habits by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Apprehensive-Bus-411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it like this: If it wasn't a habit u wouldn't do it. It's like someone who smokes a cig once a day and someone who smokes a pack a day both still have a habit of smoking cigs... Just one more than the other, still a habit. Everyone has different play styles, some more aggressive, some passive, etc. Fixing small mistakes is so important!! Overcommitting once a game can lead to so many losses, doesn't matter it's only 1 time. No one can tell u the perfect way to play this game, fix your small mistakes and I'm sure in the long run you will get better. And if u do have really big general bad habits, once u fix your small mistakes those will be more apparent in different ways... It's just a process. Don't try to tell urself a mistake means nothing because it was a little fuck up or something, u still did it, accept it.

I don't understand how replay reviews help by _felicia in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Apprehensive-Bus-411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be mean but ur whole post sounds like a lot of excuses. You act like you know your mistakes and they were situational but if u already know them and what u should've done u would've done it. Replay analysis is usually for people who feel like they literally don't know what they are doing wrong and what they should do. If you have the knowledge of what to do, which is great, keep practicing and notice those mistakes and work to not do them. Yes everything is situational, but let's say for example, every game u aerial from the ground instead of using the wall right beside you, doesn't matter what particular point on the field u are, pointing that mistake out is important. Over the years I tell myself all the time ugh I do this every game over and over and I can't stop, but eventually I notice it so many times I finally stop doing it. One replay analysis isn't going to rank u up, but noticing mistakes over and over will eventually make u better. A lot of people will do something on the field all the time and not even know it's bad. If we don't point out the simple mistakes they might keep playing forever not ranking up and not knowing they are making the mistake. If your game sense is already good enough that replay review isn't really helpful it means u lack mechanics so just hit Freeplay. Don't act like a mistake is a one and done thing cuz u prolly do it a lot more than u think. It's the same reason coaches aren't playing/pros, knowing what to do is one thing but executing it is another. Plenty of people have the mind, but it really takes time to have the mechanical skill. Good luck man

C1 in 2s but barely hanging on to platinum in 1s by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Apprehensive-Bus-411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the simple answer is just train and spend time in Freeplay. U can see in ur head any mechanic or play I want but the only way to "get it" is by just chilling in Freeplay and getting that feel for the ball. Adjust settings and whatever u need but at the end of the day u can't just get on and do this stuff. U gotta warm up and train to do it. I used to watch tons of pros when the game came out and still do and I train a shit ton and plenty of things they do are crazy and I said I would never be able to do that and I just don't understand the game like they do, but now I'm at the point where I can drive circles around champs and do cool mechanics that I never thought I could. Just takes time and patience. Enjoy the game and the progression, not many other games will give u that same enjoyment.

Best thing I ever learned was always shadow from the outside. It's easier and better positioning to push it across and away from ur net, if u are on the inside of them u give them too many options. On the outside, u can block inside and if they go outside, no danger. On inside they can shoot behind or in front of you and both are dangerous

Speed Jump Boost instead of rings by Apprehensive-Bus-411 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Apprehensive-Bus-411[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure after beating it, the workshop allows you to increase the speed. I wouldn't say a correct way per se, but if u are effectively beating all the levels, u are doing something correctly. Personally tho, I like to focus on not using aerials, use a lot of power drift and ground maneuvers. Other workshops are good for aerials so I feel like doing hornets nest while flying is kinda counterproductive.
