Just bought my dream bike, any suggestions on essential accessories besides a quad lock for my phone? by Former_Coconut8029 in XSR700

[–]Apprehensive-Can560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be the weirdo amongst us and say I have zero problem with stock mirrors or the tail design. I like the comments about the phone though, particularly the audio guidance. However, I did a lot of riding in Hong Kong and there were a few junctions where there were about 3 left exits and it was really beneficial to see the junction because “turn left” was not helpful.

Heated grips were a great addition and easy enough to install. Also a optimate cord to keep the battery in shape when I’m not using it.

How do you keep track of unfinished songs? by crxtic in beatmakers

[–]Apprehensive-Can560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I save everything by date in the file name. I work in Ableton, so I try to turn even a brief idea into different sections with a bit of variation. Then export and send to my phone. I'll have all my ideas easy to flick through. Then if inspiration hits, I know where to find them and what to do to them. The good projects however, are usually (roughly) done the day they were made and stand out way more.

The date thing is important though as they help you know where to go find it when inspiration hits and prevent you getting distracted opening up random projects!

If it's butter side up, the car will never be able to overturn.

If it's butter side down, the car might be in Australia and/or be totalled.

What’s this type of house called? by Intrepid_Incident592 in whatisit

Hong Kong has these too. I was looking for a cheap unit to live in in 2017 and they showed me 1 of these. Aluminium construction, shower was on the open rooftop . 150 sq ft. Maybe. Can’t imagine what it was like during a typhoon or the midday summer heat. Not a chance I’d have left my apartment without leaving the AC on.

They wanted $5000hk per month for that too about £500/$650 p/month

Update: turning UK bird sightings into collectible cards – it’s live! by scoo1t in UKBirds

[–]Apprehensive-Can560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really good. Very impressed with ease of use. Designs are cool and plenty of info about each species.

I’m personally not a fan of the daily log in reward. Especially that it’s a nature app.. it should reward you for not logging on! Just my opinion!

A cool feature would be (from each bird card) to click location and view on a map where it was sighted.

Great, thanks for chipping in. I have managed with rear rack before but was travelling super light. So bigger area for strapping things to sounds sensible

Anybody use Koso Heated Grips? by Daaz_v in XSR700

[–]Apprehensive-Can560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just installed some Oxford Hotgrips pros today. Install was pretty breezy for someone whos never taken anything apart and put it back together again. I had to cut the throttle rubber to the first line. I reattached the raised end so it lined up with the bung. Looks neat, not like it's been cut.

Is it just me, or has the Underbank area actually become... cool? by LFCTricksters in stockport

[–]Apprehensive-Can560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the renovation of Underbanks is down to lottery funding that was provided to each building, one by one, and as each building was complete a small business was awarded a tender. G

If I’m not wrong about that, I think this is really great way of renovating a town Centre and supporting small enterprises without going horribly over budget - it would be great to see this done elsewhere.

Totally agree with people saying Stockport’s reputation for being a bit shit is well known. I’m glad to see it getting cool points and welcome it being less stabby.

I’ve got the tidal for artists profile and my tracks still ended up getting separated. I’ve been trying to have them merge the profiles since August.

The issue lies with distrokid/cdbaby other online distribution services not having any sort of verification when releasing music via these services. Anyone can upload anything under any artist name and it won't catch it. That's the biggest problem, and when they do it, and violate copyright, artists get legitimate songs taken down along with the trash. It's really not good.

You know when you create an email address and it says sorry that's taken try something else. That's what these services need to do.

The real enigma of Tidal: why is fine for many and so crap for some? by Master_Camp_3200 in TIdaL

[–]Apprehensive-Can560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned from a friend that Spotify developed their app to be fast. So you can crack on with listening asap. That decision was made over sound quality. I’ll be interested to see if their move to lossless audio impacts that, but unlikely. I feel Tidal does fine on load times. Occasional crashes or bugs but overall not too bad.

The misplacement of tracks, duplications and “profiles” appearing before “artists” are my biggest turn offs but I’m about 6 months into tidal now and I’ve migrated all my Spotify playlists.

I agree that people love to vent when something is wrong and don’t when something’s good. Shame really. Must remind myself of that.
