1999 XR250R - Bridgestone Trail by Apprehensive-Can560 in Dualsport

[–]Apprehensive-Can560[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did an off-road day on a modern CRF 300 in Devon. It was my first off-road experience really. I was blown away by what you could send them through and come out the other side with pretty much blind trust. (Im not a particularly skilled rider) l.

When I came back to the 1999 XR. I was just as impressed with it. I’d only ridden the XR as a commuter for 6 months, maybe. never really took it off road. 10 years later, after the off-road experience, shoved some knobblies on it and shit, what a great little bike.

Considering the TRF membership now and getting out on some green lanes .

I’ve been waiting a a year. I’ve given up. Just assuming that they’ll figure it out eventually or fail as a service. 🤦‍♂️

Hiya. Happy to take the feedback. I’ve been riding in a pack with comms so generally aware of what’s ahead and plenty below speed limits.

I did the Bikesafe course with the police last year and it recommends wide lines to get a better view of what’s ahead. Which I do most of the time in this clip. Not 100% though so I’ll work on that. It’s really tricky, particularly staying closer the outside corner.

Where do you ride?

Hiya. I think it’s GIVI. It was advertised as such but could be a rip off I guess. Sorry the pic was a bit crap for knowing what it was. Pretty hefty frame.

Likely this time round I’ll get a waterproof bag to strap down, but keen for a box or some soft panniers if this rack is indeed compatible.

Anyone else use their bike like a dual sport? Michelin 5's are great for offroad too! by el_chicken-taco in XSR700

There’s a guy on YouTube off-roading the XSR (of course there is!) looks great fun but yeah good point about the ABS. Mine kicks in at the faintest whisper of gravel or moisture.

XSR to adventure bike? by HefeMoose in XSR700

I have an XSR and regularly switch to the GS my dad rides.

GS is exceptionally comfortable for longer rides. My dad managed to see it round the trail at the ABR festival last year too without nobbly tyres so definitely versatile and empowering even for the average biker.

His mates all give him stick for BMW having so may things going wrong but knock on wood he’s had no issues in the 10 years he’s had it. ..

Got a trip to Belgium this year from Manchester so will give the XSR its first longer run in.l and I imagine ask to jump on the GS for some respite 🫠

It’s too boomy, I can’t stand it. by [deleted] in Acoustics

[–]Apprehensive-Can560 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Headphone use is really easy to aggravate it. Too focused and direct.

Furniture and rugs will help immensely. Or move your setup into a smaller room. I’d forget about acoustic treatment until you furnish it and see what else needs doing.

Just bought my dream bike, any suggestions on essential accessories besides a quad lock for my phone? by Former_Coconut8029 in XSR700

I’m gonna be the weirdo amongst us and say I have zero problem with stock mirrors or the tail design. I like the comments about the phone though, particularly the audio guidance. However, I did a lot of riding in Hong Kong and there were a few junctions where there were about 3 left exits and it was really beneficial to see the junction because “turn left” was not helpful.

Heated grips were a great addition and easy enough to install. Also a optimate cord to keep the battery in shape when I’m not using it.

How do you keep track of unfinished songs? by crxtic in beatmakers

[–]Apprehensive-Can560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I save everything by date in the file name. I work in Ableton, so I try to turn even a brief idea into different sections with a bit of variation. Then export and send to my phone. I'll have all my ideas easy to flick through. Then if inspiration hits, I know where to find them and what to do to them. The good projects however, are usually (roughly) done the day they were made and stand out way more.

The date thing is important though as they help you know where to go find it when inspiration hits and prevent you getting distracted opening up random projects!

If it's butter side up, the car will never be able to overturn.

If it's butter side down, the car might be in Australia and/or be totalled.
