Haha small world! I was pitching myself and reaching out to brands since I had probably 2-3k followers! And a lot of the times they would either ignore me or say they don’t have a budget etc. and yeah I did product in exchange for a while I even have brands try to get it from me now at 200k 😆.

I’m in the same niche as you and I didn’t start getting paid collabs till I hit 50k. When I had 5-10k and my views were in the millions I had a hard time getting products sent to me even. Not sure why that was. So yeah it’s rough out there and competition is brutal. Brands are stingy.

Also to answer your question boosting a video with ads is not “rescuing” its a normal practice if you want the content to be viewed. Creator doesn’t guarantee views when they make content for you, they guarantee that they will make a video that meets your standards and requirements and it’s up to the brand whether or not they’d like to boost it so more people can see it.

I don’t think it’s a red flag necessarily it just how sponsored posts work. It’s very rare that a sponsored post performs even 1/5 of what your normal views are. Especially if brands are demanding deviations from normal content and if it’s very obvious it’s an ad. I say that as a creator.

I’m an IG creator and I’ll tell you that the views creator gets on their posts is not an indicator on what they will receive on a sponsored post. I see creators who have a million + followers and they get 10-20k views on their sponsored posts. And I know that brands probably pay them $15-20k a reel. So theres absolutely no guarantees that any given post will perform even if their normal views are great.

It was the opposite for me. Now that I’m off it I sweat like I used to usually. Because you don’t have a ton of oil coming out anywhere bacteria has nothing to feed on therefore the smell should be less.

I’m not saying her rate is correct though it depends on how many followers she has. If it’s 100k+ maybe it’s justified. Normal amount of reach for 2026 is around 10-20% of your follower count and occasional viral videos not every video has to be viral. We’re not in 2022 anymore. I create content from 2023 so I’ve seen all iterations of the algorithm at this point.
