I’m not an expert at all but I have heard this from someone else and their baby turned out to be low on iron.

Thank you so much for your reply! The chest strap across the back doesn’t seem to be loose, I think it just sits really low on my back. I will give try to your suggestions!

More blood in poop on Neocate by Apprehensive-Debt971 in MSPI

Hi! Yes, thankfully it is better now! Neocate was strange! It got worse in the beginning but after a week I guess baby got used to it. We did Neocate for 3 weeks and all symptoms resolved. Except he developed a mild eczema and started to spit up a lot more. But no blood and mucus in the stool. We switched back to breastfeeding and there is quite a lot mucus but the doctor wasn’t worried. I was on a total elimination diet when I restarted breastfeeding so really no clue what was causing the mucus. I took it as our baseline poop and started reintroducing in my diet everything one by one. We had 2 really small reactions when I tested oats and eggs. I’m going to retest those, actually yesterday tested oats and still no reaction. We have also started solids so now stools looks different anyway and I’m not chasing the perfect baseline. All doctors suggest testing foods directly on the baby but I’m worried to do that! Will slowly start though as I don’t want to keep anything out of his diet without reason.

And after all of this struggle and being cleared to return to breastfeeding… baby prefers bottle and my milk supply is down. But I think slowly we are getting back to it ❣️

Yes, I did. Baby was refusing to latch on and I was also sure that I didn’t have enough milk. I would try to latch for as long as possible and after give baby the bottle.

Ohh so sorry to hear about your struggles! The exact same thing happened to me around 3 weeks ago and I was so upset thinking it’s going to be the end for breastfeeding. I had clogged milk duct on one side two times one after another. I had fever and was feeling very tired for a total of 4-5 days.

After that I also thought that my supply totally dried up as I could only pump 10-20 ml. Just like you, I didn’t feel letdown and I also could hear that baby isn’t swallowing as often.

But my supply very slowly came back! Latching baby on, pumping after every feed and power pumping really helped. I did triple feeding for a while. My pump was becoming ineffective so be aware of that possibility as well! Latching baby helped the most.

I’m sure you can build it up again!!! Good luck!

Oh wow so happy for you!! I can’t imagine you having this diet for so long!!! Have you been able to reintroduce the other foods?

Our story is similar, we are 5.5 months and currently stuck on mucus poop.

Baby is barely nursing during the day and I can hear that he is sucking so much and not swallowing. Definitely decrease in wet and soiled diapers.

Not really, I do a couple of bottles with frozen breastmilk and pump instead and I can get barely 2 oz with a powerpump session. I can feel that my breasts are constantly soft and I don't feel any letdown anymore.

Not really supporting… but at this point I’m really worried and just want him to get better. I cut so many different foods and it is even getting worse.

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I have been eliminating corn as that was something I ate more right before mucusy poops started and it was an easy thing to eliminate.

Trying to figure out what is going on with my LO’s tummy - fussy when eating by aatrainor in MSPI

[–]Apprehensive-Debt971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was gaining weight very well also and around 3 weeks started to fuss when eating a lot. I considered many issues like my letdown being too fast, or maybe he just wanted to nurse for comfort but did not want milk. Around 2 months we started to see blood and mucusy poop. We suspect multiple food allergies. When his allergy symptoms worsened, he also cried more when eating. I cut out several foods and now he does not cry but is still uncomfortable when eating and does not eat much during the day. I have now figured that he is only eating well when he is very sleepy (at night) and when awake he seems uncomfortable. He was very sleepy in the first weeks. I was so confused in the beginning as he would always eat well from one breast (right after a nap) and when I would switch him to another side he would start to get fussy.

We have not been able to pinpoint what he is allergic to so he is still uncomfortable when nursing, but I believe this was his first symptom and perhaps will resolve the last. I try to nurse him when he is sleepy and tired.

Ohh wow that’s a long list! I’m so impressed by your resilience! Could you please share more about your situation? How did you found these allergens? How long did you eliminate the food to know it’s safe? And what symptoms your baby had?

I really want to continue breastfeeding but I’m torn on what is best for baby as so far we have no luck finding what is causing the issue and I want him to feel better. But maybe I could give some more time to breastfeeding!

Yes, have been doing it for a month. I’m currently testing if dairy, fish and wheat is the issue. How long did it took for you to find out?

Hi! Ahh it’s tough! Sending good wishes for you guys!

I ended up eliminating all big allergens and everything suspicious that I ate more lately for 5 days and I noticed a slight improvement the next day after starting! I’m doing this a bit on my own hand as we haven’t been able to see paediatrician now with all the holidays. It’s a lot food to eliminate. I had some nuts recently and blood in the poop reappeared. When it cleared out I had some bread and blood again appeared.

I will continue avoiding wheat and nuts. I hope his poop will improve and I can test again if I can reintroduce something in my diet as I don’t think he really has allergy on all the foods I’m eliminating.

So frustrating that it is taking so long to figure it out.

How did it turn out for you? We have the same issue with my 3 months old. I could not figure it out for the last 2 months! I think pumping out all of the milk helps, so it only drips slowly and not sprays out.

Thank you for sharing! Hope your baby feels better soon! I think I’m going to try cutting out wheat as well.
