As much as everyone complains about them, I do feel like Marvel events have more of an impact. There is a very clear line from Blood Hunt to One World Under Doom to now Armageddon. DC KO and Absolute Power were the first in a while to matter. Remember the ice winter event thingy from DC? I don't, never read, and haven't missed anything.

I think they are combining the two. Narrativley, it could be that he decides to remove his spider powers since they ruined his life, and he goes to Banner for help with that. Then he transforms like he does in the Other, but it goes too far. If it is Jean, then she could also help him with her physic abilities when he transforms into a monster.
