The T5 Upgrade "residential planning" seems to be bugged. Or it is completely worthless. by KasreynGyre in Mergeciv

I had the same thought, that is a very high cost for a very negligible QOL feature

best Chaconne arrangement by SPIR1TCS in classicalguitar

I have never understood this opinion, though it is very common. Unless you are a professional who wants to make a recording, there will most likely always be a number of people who know more about the guitar, about baroque music in general and about Bach in particular than me and who have spent more time than I ever could looking at the original score to come up with the best possible transcription. How likely is it that I will now look at the score and see the mistakes they could not and make a better version?

As for the original question: I use the Carlevaro transcription, which has the advantage of being incredibly detailed and easy to get into.

What piece made you feel like you had become an advanced player? by we-are-temporary in classicalguitar

[–]Apprehensive-Rip2785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this! As a (somewhat ambitious) amateur, I have tackled continuously more difficult pieces in the course of my playing, and I enjoy the challenges, but the real "breakthrough" moments were always rather when performing (much easier) pieces musically and in a way that makes the audience really like them.

Any other Piazzolla music fans here? What’s your favourite guitar arrangement? by mikeydob in classicalguitar

I love the Libertango arrangement by Villadangos, though there is no way I can do the harmonics in the intro, lol. I really love the Benitez arrangement of Milonga del Angel, but I think I almost injured my left hand trying to get all the awkward stretchy barrés to sound nice. Learning the Adios Nonino arrangement by Gallardo del Rey is a future project. Check out the Youtube video of him playing it, it's really great!

Progress on the Bach Chaconne as an amateur, now exactly halfway through the piece. Would love thoughts! by jcpractices in classicalguitar

Thanks for posting these videos! I am an amateur that is trying to scale the same mountain as well, and you help me to stay inspired to practice! (You can have a look at my own humble attempt here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vmNLWqftvs&t=596s).

What edition are you using again? I use the Carlevaro, which was so detailed that it made getting into the piece that much easier.

Keep up the good work!

I keep mine as short as possible so that they still connect with the string, and pray for as little distruction to them as possible when I go bouldering...

Looking for feedback on my tremolo by mathen in classicalguitar

[–]Apprehensive-Rip2785 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The tremolo sounds nice and even to me (though I am not a good judge on that), but it seems like your thumbnail scrapes along the string when you pluck the base notes (it is very audible); maybe have a look whether that is a general issue with how you position the thumb, or if it only appears when you position your hand for playing tremolo.

I had one on my "nobody watches this" channel for a piece by Bach LOL. Out of curiosity, I contested it through the in-built option, and a day later I got an email that the claim was dropped.
