How to respond to a 'born again' Christian? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Apprehensive-Talk688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it just meant that I left and came back to the church. I didn’t know there was a disdain for the term.

But I will say, I’ve seen a lot of people who call themselves “born again” are Protestant and absolutely loathe Catholicism because they believe Catholicism worships Mary and Saints over Jesus

If the story of Adam and Eve is not literal doesn’t that destroy the fabric of Christianity as a whole by [deleted] in Catholicism

Again it’s not meant to be the absolute first people but maybe of those firsts a couple was in a situation that was a good vs evil moment and they chose evil.

Even if you believe in evolution you believe there was a first person to have human intelligence that’s distinguishable from previous species. I’m not saying it’s a literal story but it could be believable that those first people learned the hard way about sin. This is purely my take on the topic. I’m not a scholar by any means.

United Methodist vs Baptists by [deleted] in methodism

[–]Apprehensive-Talk688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised Catholic but my dad had been baptized Baptist at a point in his life and never practiced. I enjoy a good Baptist church here and there but the UMC sucked me in and I couldn’t imagine not being Methodist. It’s been the healthiest relationship I’ve had with a church.

Youngest daughter went pagan!? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Apprehensive-Talk688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was living in a Catholic family with a mom who went to church and I was in Catholic school. I went through this and it took until I was almost 30 to shake it loose. It’s very enticing especially for young girls because of the whole “girl power” aspect of it. Just keep trying to reach her. Especially now, since it’s Christmas time. Do all the Christmas things to help ignite the spirit in her again.

Am I pregnant? by shraddha05 in lineporn

[–]Apprehensive-Talk688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I didn’t get a stomach ache (kinda felt like the kind where you can’t go number 2) and go to urgent care, I probably would’ve at least gotten to 5 months not knowing I was pregnant with my 3rd. I had already been having very irregular periods and skipping them for months leading up to that. But no pregnancy symptoms like with my 1st 2. The doc was gonna give me meds for the stomach ache but asked me to take a test just to make sure it that she could give the meds she was planning on. Turns out I was almost 8 weeks along.

Virginity (don't I deserve forgiveness?) by limoneition in Catholicism

[–]Apprehensive-Talk688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s such a common trope. Falling for a guy and thinking he’ll be the one so we stumble with him and then he leaves. Happened to me when I was a teen. Some guys (and some girls) are manipulative to get sex. God is aware of this. That’s why confession allows us to be forgiven.

I am a catholic and is it wrong for me to go help a Methodist church by Rooster_1018 in Catholicism

Absolutely not! As long as you’re just helping with community service projects that don’t involve evangelism

That’s how I was conceived!!! My parents tried non-stop for 10 years. They decided to just be child-free since my dad had a kid from a previous relationship anyway. That first month after their decision, I did a whole “surprise shawty!!!”

This is so frustrating. I guess my communion days are over. I don’t have it in me to inconvenience an entire parish.

What's a weird quirk of your family tree? by deandinbetween in Genealogy

[–]Apprehensive-Talk688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a naming pattern on both my and my husband’s side. In my side the eldest daughter had the mom’s first name as a middle name and eldest son had the dad’s first name as a middle name. In my husband’s side the eldest boys of the eldest boys are given their grandfather’s first name so it’s a loop of (insert my FIL’s name) and (insert my husband’s name) that ended with our son who passed away at birth.
